The Important Places Analysis

Forest Woodward is well known as one of the adventures photographer and the filmmaker. As a young shooter, Woodward, shows unique techniques to direct few documentaries features films. Although, his contribution towards the photographer let him to a successful filmmaker and he able to manages good relationship between a photographer and a film director. Later on his life, filmmaker Woodward was able to discovers that he was a great influence by this dad, Doug Woodward, who walked into the wild and discovers the important place when he was a young man. The Important Places is one of my favorite documentary film directed by Woodward in 2013 from his dad landscapes’ memories when his father was a young man down the Colorado River, which ultimately

bring the love once much closer to the rest of the family, because the director use special visual techniques and sound effects to make film inspiring, and beautiful.
In this documentary film, the filmmaker and a photographer, Woodward, found a poem his father had written in 1986, the year Woodward was born. It was called The Important Place. Forest grew up in the mountains of western North Carolina. Later, when became a successful filmmaker, Woodward decided to reunited his father with the Colorado River for a 28-day rafting trips through the Grand Canyon in order to understand the man who had written that poem so many years ago. When Woodward first talk about the rafting trip idea with his father, he wasn’t sure if the old man would be interested. Meanwhile, upon his father approval, on November 12, 2013, Woodward took his 77 years old dad along with his friends and family member on the Grand Canyon trip. Woodward discovers different answers about his old dad, when he was a young from his landscape memories.
In The Important Places viewer observes the opening scene as by the scripted dialogue and stock footage, it allows the viewer to impress flash back story when his father was a young man. This opening scene express, viewer to feel unique and somewhat touching because as you grow up you gradually start learning new things. As sense flows through camera cuts and used dad archival footage, give dynamic feel as you watch it. Apart of this, it would have been good to have at least some details about his father in film; however, film is good. Not the best, but definitely worth watching. I absolutely loved the scene between two, son and father when he asked his dad, “How your feeling?” Dad reply with his cute smile, “Life coming back” shows good relationship between two and their value to help his dad to learn what his father was like a young man in Grand Canyon river. I think this film carry attention to details about two, son and father that made me like this film.

The music also plays vital role in making great visual transforming because as a shot clips cut, the music start changing in such a way that fits slides tone.

In The Important Places filmmaker choose awesome music because it gives viewer to feel in the best mood while watching. Similarly, Contributing Writer for Film Rejects, Allison, says “Music is an important part of any film, but with documentaries, the music becomes all the more important because it is reflecting real world issues and not just a works of fiction.” I agree with Allison, because music is the one media to draw viewers’ feeling, which touches the soul as well as capable of bonding people together from different background, and cultural heritage. What I enjoy about The Important Place is its organization plot flow smoothly, as well as the overall atmosphere of the sound quality is perfect. However, the rest of the family members who were involved in 28 days’ trips on a Grand Canyon river was indescribable, because it was the first time back on the Colorado since his father paddled it 43 years ago. Through the short interviews in the Canyon river, his father expresses complicated facial expression, and discovers different answer from his past landscapes memories—something more and something deeper from his tired eyebrows because he feels like he was a young man again at his age of 77, when his father rafts after 43 years ago. This shows great organization plot as well as smooth flow in the film.
When I was watching, The Important Place, I noticed film director, Woodward play interesting role because as a son it is really important that pieces of information that loosing today, brought joy in father life, as you got older sometime, life is difficulties or such details unable to open. The film director is brilliant as well as skilled, you can easily recognize as you watch closely to theme of the film. I believe, Anita Lee, Executive producer for the National Film Board of Canada, agrees that documentaries are important when filmmakers are guided by the principles of seeking and reflecting some kind of truth. Lee also mention, that mainstream media offers unique of view to documentary film to bring people together where people thoughtfully reflect upon their lives and the lives of others. When we contribute this kinds of documentary film in the diverse society. It is most interesting way of seeing the world and telling a story, as well as giving and learning platform for all people around the world. This makes Woodward a great value character to this film and lesson it conveys.
This documentary film was also different from the rest because it had a story concerning his old dad.

In one particular scene, director was truly a great one, featuring special focus on his dad life and the Colorado River. It was so cool to highlights of the movie by one of his favorite poem written by his dad when he was born, the Important Place. Also, this film was a good length, not excessively long but long enough to tell the story. This is really important today there were no such unwanted scene in the film, which literary the most closely and accurately delivered. In my opinion, this film is forced to possess the characters of a great aspect, and turns to make for quite the adventurous. There was no special character encounter rather than his dad, learned something from the secret Colorado River. Another great aspect of the film was the special footage that were introduce in this film was an enjoyable aspect to be a good documentary film, and that’s how this film is different from the rest.
Overall, in my opinion, this film portrayal the fantastic story of his beloved dad and the Colorado River. Also the lesson that he learned from his dad about the important place. It is a good short documentary film with the sums up his superb visual content and masterful personalities. Although, this film is what truly meets distinct atmosphere in its cinematography. I recommend watching The Important Place with your love once. Under these conditions, I bet you will like this
