Becoming A College Student Many studies now show that it doesn’t take a college degree to become successful but what people define success as is different for everybody. Success in my perspective is being educated in many different areas, being able to support yourself and your family to the best of your ability, and achieving as many of your goals as you can. Sometimes life gets in the way and may make it seem like it’s impossible but, often times you will find yourself with advantages that could potentially help you become who you want to be. By surrounding yourself with a positive atmosphere it can lead you on the road to success. Fortunate for me I have family who is willing to support me no matter where life takes me and that is one of the best feelings you can have. Since I am the oldest sibling and my parents never attended college my grandma made it her personal goal to help me throughout college. This semester she paid for whatever financial aid didn’t cover and left me with a negative balance in my account that I will receive back in a few days. Having someone that supports me in that way is a blessing because it alleviates an enormous amount of stress I would have if I were to be doing it on my own. Even for family that doesn’t help me financially, positive encouragement is just as good because it keeps me motivated to be the best I can be. I’ve received many advantages that have helped me become a college student. Things such as my parents not furthering their education themselves, attending Newton Public Schools, and having a generous and encouraging support system from my family. My hope is that one day everyone has the opportunity to attend college. My hope is that one day everyone views college as being realistic and something they can do. Set yourself up for
