Leadership is often described as leading a group of people, however, leadership means much more than that. Leadership is encouraging others to go beyond what they can do and to help them achieve what they think to be impossible. 'Leadership is not magnetic personality, that can just as well be a glib tongue. It is not "making friends and influencing people," that is flattery. Leadership is lifting a person's vision to higher sights, the raising of a person's performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations'; this quote by Peter Drucker sums up an opinion of leadership.

Meanwhile, other individuals believe that leadership is based on mutual trust and that collaboration is needed to lead successfully. All individuals are included in decision making and their views are valued. Leaders encourage everyone to share their ideas to form the best possible course of action. Having multiple opinions leads to more preferable ideas and help the leader to come up with productive solutions to different problems. When a leader shows that they appreciates others feelings, even if you don't agree with their belief, they feel as though they are an important part of the group. Understanding other's feeling with allow a leader insight to what they need to further succeed in the job that is to be done. Teachers promote independence in their students through providing a solid learning environment. While teaching students the basics of good writing skills, how to prepare and give speeches along with other various tasks, this creates strong independent individuals. Individuals that can work independently can be strong leaders. Independence is like a backbone for leadership. Leaders have to be able to take control and be steadfast in their actions.
