Adnan Syed, the claimed antagonist of this case is clearly innocent and even if he is not there is not enough physical, well investigated evidence, that would claim otherwise. Adnan is simply being accused by word of mouth and call logs that do not match up. The witness whose testimony does not even keep a consistent alibi. There are just so many things that do not fall into place for Adnan to be convicted of the murder of Hae Lee. There are many inconsistencies in each case presented, which is exactly why Adnan should be innocent. Someone should not be wrongly convicted over minor evidence. Even if he did murder Hae, more evidence should have been collected at the time to actually prove that he did do it. With the lack of evidence and lack …show more content…
of consistencies it cannot be said as a fact that Adnan did kill Hae Lee. The most important piece of evidence collected that proves Adnan innocent is that there was a witness, Asia McClain.
Asia was the only person that could give Adnan a functional alibi that would have made it impossible for him to have murdered Hae, he simply would not have had enough time to go from place to place. The alibi Asia has for Adnan that day is: “And she told me,'that day after school I went to the public library and Adnan was sitting at a computer, checking email or something and I sat down next to him, we started chatting.'” (Koenig, “The Alibi”) The time frame for which Adnan was at the library was around 2:30pm and Hae was murdered at 2:36pm. This is a six minute window there is no possible way that Adnan would have been able to leave school, meet up with Hae, strangle her, meet up with Jay at Bestbuy, and then proceed to go and bury Hae's body, there is just no way. Asia was Adnan's perfect alibi, there were even two more people with her—her boyfriend and his friend—to testify that they also saw Adnan at the library. He could not have murdered her, time just would not allow …show more content…
it. Jay is the primary witness testifying against Adnan.
Jay provides Adnan's motive and plan. “That day he told me, yes. He told me, 'I'm going to leave you with my cellphone and my car, and I need you too come get me.' Yes” (Koenig, “The Alibi”) Yet this part that Jay tells is really the only part of his story that stays consistent. When it comes to where he is suppose to pick Adnan up, well, that is where it gets dicey. “I went to pick him up from off of Edmondson Avenue at a strip and he, uh, popped the trunk open and” (Koenig, “Inconsistencies”). Now this information changes when he is asked on a different day. Jay says he is called by Adnan and “Um, that bitch is dead. Come and get me. I'm at Best Buy” (Koenig, “Inconsistencies”). It is very easy to tell when someone is lying because this information would not have changed as much as it did especially when something very memorable happened that day, it is strange that Jay did not remember things more precisely. Leaving the question if he is lying and is either changing his lie to better fit with the evidence or if he had gotten to wrapped up in his lies and could not keep them from getting tangled and
confused. The primary reason for Adnan's conviction is that people have claimed a motive for him, saying things like “Adnan had to keep his relationship with Hae a secret […] he put everything on the line—his family, his relationships at the mosque—to run around with this girl. So that when she broke up with him […] he was left with nothing, and he was outraged. He couldn't take it, and he killed her” (Koenig, “The Alibi”). This is a very stretched reason for why Adnan would kill Hae, sure it might give a valid motive, but for most students in high school those first relationships are just flings and will likely change. It is extremely doubtful that Adnan would be so frustrated as to murder someone simply because they broke up with him, that is just ridiculous. Adnan has to be innocent, the evidence for this case is strongly lacking and is inconsistent. Adnan seems to just be a typical teenager who got into a relationship that did not work out, that is all there is to it, he my have been a bit upset but it would be pushing extremes to say that he would murder someone. To murder someone over a relationship would have to qualify Adnan for being a sociopath and he just does not seem like the type. Even if Adnan the type to just murder someone more evidence would need to be collected to actually prove and settle this case within people's hearts.
This reason makes sense because Asia and even a friend of hers claim that they saw and even spoke to Adnan that day and at that time Hae was murdered. This part of the story is when Asia found out Adna was arrested so she wrote him a letter explaining what she remembered about seeing him that day and time. This is from the letter “Im not sure if you remember talking to me in the library january 13’th,but I remember”. This means Adnan is innocent because he was not murdering Hae at the time he was at the library. Therefore Adnan is innocent because Asia’s letters prove that he was at the library at the time Hae was
Leanne Sarah Holland born 1st October 1978 was a 12year old girl from Goodna Queensland found murdered. Her body was discovered 8.9 kilometers from her home in nearby Redbank Plains down a dirt track on 26th September 1991. Holland lived with her dad Terry, older sister Melissa and sister’s de-facto partner Graham. Graham Stuart Stafford was a 28year old sheet metal worker from Goodna Queensland. On 25th March 1992, he was sentenced to 15years to life in prison for the murder of Holland.
The first piece of evidence that led to this theory was ice tray that was located at the crime scene. Due to the chromatography paper which was tested in Forensic Lab 7, it was revealed that the ice tray was poisoned by the one and only Beverly Hilis. In the Forensic Report it states, “The ph in the ice water was 9”(Forensic Report). This is significant, because this was the exact same ice tray Max used in his drink. The only person that was able to poison Max at the crime scene was Beverly. This is important, given the fact that the chromatography tests results showed that the ice tray was poisoned, Beverly could have made the poison because she is use to performing experimental things especially being a Chemist. Another piece of evidence that led to suspicion was Dez’s towel which was found at the crime scene. In the Preliminary Report it states,“ I took my dog down to the beach for a walk around noon”(Preliminary Report). If Dez was not near the beach house during the time of the murder then it raises the suspicion of why his towel was located at the crime scene. In addition to Dez’s towel being at the crime scene there was also the smell of cologne on the towel. In Forensic Lab 4, after testing out each of our suspects (Dez, Beverly, Chloe, and Ray) cologne we concluded that the cologne does match Dez. Due to the Forensic Report it stated, “The smell that
When Hae Min Lee disappeared on January 13, 1999, all of her friends (including the subsequently charged killer, Adnan Syed) thought that she moved to California. Hae’s body turned up a few weeks later on February 9, and the police later charged Adnan Syed, her ex-boyfriend with her murder. Jay Wilds, an alleged accomplice to the crime, confessed to the police that he knew that Adnan killed Hae and Adnan tasked him with burying her. The state later used Jay’s testimony as the foundation for their case, even though it contradicted some of the state’s own physical evidence. While Jay’s eyewitness testimony does identify Adnan Syed as Hae Lee’s murderer, it is self-serving and inconsistent, with no physical evidence to corroborate it. Therefore,
In December, 2011, two years after the unpleasant homicide of Wayne Boyce, the evidence collected for this particular crime suggested Prima Facie existing in the allegations made. The case then went to trial in the NSW Supreme Court of Australia. Where A 19 year old teenager referred by the initials of his name AH as he was a juvenile, pleaded guilty towards the manslaughter of Mr Wayne Boyce, 23 years of age.
Can you imagine being convicted of first degree murder at only 17 years of age? Adnan Syed couldn't believe it either. In fact he was mortified when they charged him of brutally suffocating, his ex-girlfriend Hea Min Lee, to death. Adnan Syed was a pawn that the Baltimore detectives played with, a mere dupe to cast off as the true killer. Syed is like many Americans, he was never granted a fair trial. There is some actors that make Syed guilty, but perhaps it was just pure coincidence that got Adan wrapped up in this whole mess. One simply can't overlook the major factors that make him innocent enough to grant him a second trial. Adan has spent half of his life in prison, due to a wrongful conviction that happened many
Teachers, friends, classmates, relatives and parents could not believe he kills his girlfriend. The reality sometimes is very hard to face especially when feelings are involved. Parents never will accept that their own child who was raised with comfort, love and support could be capable of murder somebody. Disturbing people could be disguised very well under a charming appearance. Many serial killers were known as decent, brilliant and admired persons. When a teenager is carrying a burden as Adnan was, probably feeling guilty for giving back to his parents, his religion and customs could transform him in another person for a few moments when he felt betrayed, humiliated, dishonored and abandoned by the person for whom he did all this. Then he kill Hae Min Lee in a rage 's attack or probably as Jay said Adnan was planning the murder in detail; that is why the police could not found enough evidences to probe him clearly
Based on information provided by Sarah Koenig’s podcast, Serial, Hae Min Lee is killed by Adnan Syed, he yet says he didn’t murder her. Adnan is convicted of committing homicide, which he didn’t do, should not be in jail. This is for 3 main accounts; if something important happens a person remembers that day, Jay knew where Hae’s car was, and by how Sarah and her friend go by the day Jay described.
You’re woken up by police officers one morning. They say that they are taking you to be questioned for the murder of Hae Min Lee. That’s what happened to Adnan Syed, a young man sentenced to life in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend. This would be any old hear-it-and-forget-it case, except that there were multiple problems with the case. The evidence that the State used was flawed. So, because there has not been any evidence presented that can prove him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, Adnan is not guilty.
The Greenland Natives were killed around 1000 A.D and many assumed that Leif Erikson was the murder. However, the time that this occurred Erikson was around the age of 8. How could an 8 year old kill all those natives? The answer is that he didn’t kill them, his father did. Erik the red was Leif’s father and the culprit of the Greenland Native’s deaths. Some people may have associated Leif with his father or just thought Leif did it all. But according to Saga Of Erik The Red, c. 1000 Red did it all.
In conclusion there is enough evidence in the Serial Podcast and other information available to say the Adnan Syed is the killer of Hae Min Lee in 1999. Adnan had more reasoning than anyone else to commit this murder. Adnan's family conflicts built up anger inside him causing his emotions to erupt and murder Hae. Lastly the phone log and where each call pinged the towers, giving an idea where Adnan was
In this podcast Sarah explores and digs deep into the two options, is Adnan guilty? Or is Adnan innocent of his past? Adnan Syed should stay in jail and not be released from prison due to some main reasons that lean towards Adnan’s guilt. It didn’t seem like a healthy relationship should look like.
“And George raised the gun and steadied it, and he brought the muzzle of it close to the back of Lennie’s head. The hand shook violently, but his face set and his hand steadied. He pulled the trigger.” (Steinbeck 106). In John Steinbeck’s novel Of Mice and Men, Lennie Small is a middle-aged character with a severe mental disability. He always feels as if he has to be petting something soft, or that satisfies his touch. One of these things he pets is a woman’s hair, and as he started to pet it more, she started getting angry and was shaking, as she thought he was ruining it. As he got nervous, because he had never seen a woman up close before, and he snapped her neck and killed her, accidentally. Lennie then ran away from the ranch where he was working and George Milton, his lifelong friend and travel buddy, found him, and decided to shoot and murder him thinking it would be the best way to handle the situation. It was considered a mercy killing in his eyes, when it was really a murder. Mercy killings are told to be assisted suicide, where one chooses to end their

Sunday, November 26, 2000 was the last time Leanne Tiernan was seen alive. Tiernan, a young 16 year old schoolgirl, went missing about a mile from her home in Bramley, Leeds, UK. After a day of Christmas shopping with her friend Sarah Whitehouse, Tiernan took a shortcut home alone and walked through a desolate and dark path locally known as Houghley Gill. Leanne reportedly had disappeared around 5pm.
