Murder Could you believe or even imagine a charming, handsome and popular high school boy killing his ex-girl-friend? This is the case involving Adnan Syed in the murder of Hae Min Lee in 1999. "On January 13, 1999, a girl named Hae Min Lee, a senior at Woodlawn High School in Baltimore County, Maryland, disappeared. A month later, her body turned up in a city park. She’d been strangled. Her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was arrested for the crime, and within a year, he was convicted and sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison. The case against him was largely based on the story of one witness, Adnan’s friend Jay, who testified that he helped Adnan bury Hae’s body. But Adnan has always maintained he had nothing to do with Hae’s death. Some people believe he’s telling the truth. Many others don’t"(KS). If people feel resentment, betrayed and humiliated, I believe they …show more content…
Teachers, friends, classmates, relatives and parents could not believe he kills his girlfriend. The reality sometimes is very hard to face especially when feelings are involved. Parents never will accept that their own child who was raised with comfort, love and support could be capable of murder somebody. Disturbing people could be disguised very well under a charming appearance. Many serial killers were known as decent, brilliant and admired persons. When a teenager is carrying a burden as Adnan was, probably feeling guilty for giving back to his parents, his religion and customs could transform him in another person for a few moments when he felt betrayed, humiliated, dishonored and abandoned by the person for whom he did all this. Then he kill Hae Min Lee in a rage 's attack or probably as Jay said Adnan was planning the murder in detail; that is why the police could not found enough evidences to probe him clearly
This reason makes sense because Asia and even a friend of hers claim that they saw and even spoke to Adnan that day and at that time Hae was murdered. This part of the story is when Asia found out Adna was arrested so she wrote him a letter explaining what she remembered about seeing him that day and time. This is from the letter “Im not sure if you remember talking to me in the library january 13’th,but I remember”. This means Adnan is innocent because he was not murdering Hae at the time he was at the library. Therefore Adnan is innocent because Asia’s letters prove that he was at the library at the time Hae was
then convicted under the Stolen Valor Act and sentenced to a fine. In the appeals
When Rabia begins speaking of Adnan the sentence she leads with is that “He was like the community’s golden child”. By using this phrase, Rabia is connoting that he was considered perfect, which is a very bold statement to claim. After she elaborates upon her description Koenig later fact checks her “accolades” as any reporter would. She finds that Rabia “was mostly right, though she sometimes gets a little loosey-goosey with the details”. Rabia would have successfully convinced Koenig, as well as the listeners at hand, of Adnan’s reputation by simply describing him as a ‘boy with potential’ or as one ‘generally known to be respectable’ but by choosing to pronounce him a “golden child” specifically, she identifies him as impeccable, and thus incapable of committing a crime. Rabia personally knows that her descriptions are not entirely true, being that she was close with him, however, she still chooses to make use of them despite their inconsistencies. Not only does she go forth with them, but she chooses to falsely summarize him as a “golden child”, despite knowing that he was not in fact perfect. Rabia could have chosen to just state the facts as they really were, in the less
Based on information provided by Sarah Koenig’s podcast, Serial, Hae Min Lee is killed by Adnan Syed, he yet says he didn’t murder her. Adnan is convicted of committing homicide, which he didn’t do, should not be in jail. This is for 3 main accounts; if something important happens a person remembers that day, Jay knew where Hae’s car was, and by how Sarah and her friend go by the day Jay described.
First off, Adnan had always felt a little guilty for dating her because she wasn’t Muslim like him. It didn’t really look good in their religion when people did things like that. Plus, if his parents found out, he would be in A LOT of trouble because he was not supposed to be dating anyone in the first place. But his parents did end up finding out in a pretty bad way, at least that’s what I think. They found out because while Adnan and Hae were at a school dance, one of the parents called his parents and asked about Hae.
The second reason is that Asia McClain can give an alibi for Adnan's after school activities, but she was never used to defend Adnan's innocence. Asia’s timeline of that afternoon was that, “She and Adnan spoke for about 15 to 20 min while she was waiting for her boyfriend to give her a ride around 2:40“, which completely contradicts everything Jay said about how he got a call from Adnan saying he has killed Hae when she supposedly was died by 2:36 pm. She wrote to Adnan right after he was arrested trying to help him in any way, because she honestly thought he was innocent, which can directly be shown from a quote in the letter, “Through your actions that day I have reason to believe your innocence. I went to your family's house and discussed
Seung-Hui Cho was a mass murder from South Korea who in April 16, 2007 used a Glock 19 pistol to murder 32 people including himself wounding 17 people in Blacksburg, Virginia at Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech Review Panel, 2007). The motive of murdering these 32 people according to a note he left in his room criticized deceitful charlatans, debauchery, and rich kids, who he said attributed to his act of murder. Cho’s diagnosis of anxiety disorder called selective mutism and major depressive disorder led law enforcement to believe contributed to the murdering of these 32 people. However, reports from the media speculate that he became enraged after Emily Hilscher rejected his romance advances.
My first piece of evidence is that he was a great student-athlete that was a star on the football team and that he was a great student in getting good grades. Rabia Chaudry a woman described Adnan “ like his little brother “ is Adnan’s attorney. In the first episode, Sarah Koenig said that Rabia and Saad told her, “ When they told me about Adnan Syed, their friend, not just a good kid but an especially good kid. A smart , kind, goofy, handsome. So that when he was arrested for murder , so many people who knew him were stunned.” This means that people would not expect Adnan doing it
I believe that Adnan Syed is innocent. He may have had something to do with the crime or known of it but Adnan was not Hae’s killer. He won’t say if he is guilty or innocent so we will never know but I know he didn’t. My first point will be that the whole day was based on one person. His name was Jay Wilds.
Something that bothers me about the prosecution’s case is that they try to paint Adnan as a bad person because he kept secrets from his family, a major one being his relationship with Hae. But most teenagers have secrets and indulge in something their parents wouldn’t approve of, Adnan is no different. So I don’t think this is a fair allegation.
Rabia knows an amazing person, Adnan, could not commit murder. Rabia even tells Koenig “he was like the community’s golden child.” Everyone knew of Adnan’s greatness and him as someone to one day do something big. When Koenig interviews Rabia, Rabia describes Adnan’s greatness in detail with excitement: “He was an honor roll student, volunteer EMT. He was on the football team. He was a star runner on the track team. He was the homecoming king. He led prayers at the mosque. Everybody knew Adnan to be somebody who was going to do something really big.” Rabia exaggerated and Koenig clarifies point-by-point everything that Rabia exaggerated. For example, “Adnan was an EMT, but he didn't volunteer. He was paid for it.” Rabia said that Adnan was a volunteer EMT, and Koenig corrects it by saying Adnan was an EMT, but not a volunteer, he was paid for it. Obviously, Rabia’s personal agenda is to prove Adnan’s innocence. She admits this in the beginning of her podcast when she says: “I also happen to be someone who is connected to the case on a very deep and personal level. I’ve known Adnan since he was 13, and he is my younger brother’s best friend.
These different and complex pieces of the case are examined and portrayed through the podcast serial from the creators of This American Life. Sarah Koenig, an american journalist and host, searched through thousands of pieces of evidence and documents to bring audiences insight into this complex and detailed case of Adnan Syed. With my deductive reasoning of the evidence provided in Serial and general knowledge of the case, I strongly consider Adnan Syed as the one who murdered, strangled, and disposed of the body of Hae Min Lee. Those who have confidence in the guilt of Adnan claim that the invalidated alibi’s, the Nisha call at 2:36pm, and Adnan’s claim of no remembrance of events all provide notable and significant importance in proving his guilt. Even with substantial evidence proving his guilt, those who stand by his innocence can argue that not all alibi’s are insufficient evidence, the Nisha call could be a butt dial, and finally the fact it was a normal day because he wasn’t involved. But it is hard to deny the fact that every aibi from after school can be proven wrong, the unlikelihood of the Nisha call being just a simply butt dial, and the events that evidently made the day
Adnan Syed loved Hae Lee while they dated but after they broke up he was sad but then like most teenage
Adnan Syed is currently is jail for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee. He states till this day he didn't murder her, he has many standing behind him believing that he's telling the truth and that he would never lay a finger on Hae. However, he also has many people standing in front of him saying that he had a motive to killing Hae Min Lee. Was he discriminated because of his age? Keep in mind Adnan was a young teen when these accusations came flying out of the sky. Was he discriminated because of his religion and or race? Adnan Syed was a Pakistani Muslim. The Serial podcast brought international attention to Adnan Syed’s
Although some may argue that Adnan is sketchy, in reality, he’s pretty chill. Adnan is super relaxed about all of the questions and just the situation in general, he knows what was going on. If he was sketchy, he probably wouldn’t be easy going, maybe he’d be freaked out or uncooperative. As stated in Serial Season 1-Episode 2,
