At the school, University of Illinois at Springfield, they hold an Academic Integrity Policy. The policy is designed to help the students get a value able degree. It also secures the school if students do a form of cheating. The policy also helps you become more of a leader. According to the University of Illinois at Springfield website, the Academic Integrity Policy focuses the attention on the respect for knowledge and the respect for others’ ideas. In other words the policy just wants to give credit to you when you deserve it because it’s your work and not someone else work. The policy is made for everyone to obey anyone enrolled in the university or working for the university. It is important to pay attention to all categories of violations. Some of the categories of violations consist of Plagiarism, Cheating, which are the ones people are most familiar with, misrepresentation, academic interference, unauthorized access, and Facilitating violations. When a teacher suspects a student of violating the Academic Integrity Policy they are taken through steps.
One of the categories that are under the Academic Integrity Policy is Plagiarism. In the sense of Plagiarism, I think it’s basically taking someone else words, word for word and not giving that person recognition on their work. Basically not …show more content…

Cheating could be copying off your friend’s homework, test, or quizzes. Cheating consist of using notes on a closed book/ notes exam to even writing answers on your body or even somewhere around you such as a desk or chair. Taking a friend old paper from his/her class and just editing the name and some information and calling it your own considered cheating also.
