Academic burnout is a substantial problem associated with academic performance and is brought on by stress. A study explained by Shu-Hui Lin and Yun-Chen Huang (2014) is based on two scales, the “Undergraduate Life Stress Scale” and “Learning Burnout Scale” that were used as research tools to explore the life stress among college students and whether or not the results can be used as predictors of academic burnout. However, in recent years, burnouts have been noticed outside of work: marriages, athletes, but in particular, students. When being examined, students were ranked middle to upper level of the burnout scale compared to educators, counselors, nurses and, emergency medical service (EMS) responders. This has indicated that students are experiencing burnouts during their learning process. Student burnout can lead to a high number of absences, less motivation to do work that is required, or even drops out of school. This is evident that student burnout has a negative impact on academic learning. There are several reasons on the importance of student burnout: student burnout may be the underlying key to understanding student behaviors during their studies, student burnout may also influence their relationships, and the frequency of student burnout may affect the general reputation of the institution for new students. Student academic burnout has been explored in the relation of three factors. Those factors are as listed: a low sense of achievement; the decline feeling of proficiency and the want to be able to succeed, depersonalization; the unsettling feelings of detachment, and emotional exhaustion; the feeling of your inner resources being drained. As a college student that has experienced academic burnout, I can say that the three factors; a low sense of achievement, depersonalization, and emotional exhaustion are all true. The feeling of academic burnout is tiring. It makes you feel as if you are weak, and all you want to do is sleep. Burnout is a highly unusual type of stress disorder that is essentially characterized by emotional exhaustion, lack of empathy with patients, depersonalization, and a reduced sense of personal accomplishments. The nature of the work that healthcare practitioners perform predisposes them to emotional exhaustion. On the other hand, the lack of empathy towards patients is caused by the nurses feeling that they are underpaid and unappreciated. Numerous researches have associated burnout with the increasing rate of nurse turnover. This paper explores the causes of burnouts in nurses as well as what can be done to prevent the them.
In the Paleolithic Era, technology played an important role. Compared to today’s technology Paleolithic technology is quite inferior, but to the people of the Paleolithic Era their technology was of paramount significance. Their tools made of stone, their sharpened sticks, their command of fire, and their development and use of speech were all technologies that made their way of life possible. The purpose of this study is to help find a cure to burn out. The word cure is used here because it is an illness. Burnout like many other illness out there has symptoms, as mentioned earlier burnout can cause many issues like physiological problems, sleep disorder and overall feeling of fatigue. Everyone deals with stress at some point in his or her life. Most people deal with it daily. As defined in the book called Principles and Labs for Fitness and Wellness, stress is, “The mental, emotional, and physiological response of the body to any situation that is new, threatening, frightening, or exciting” (Hoeger & Hoeger, 2012). This stress is caused by a stressor, which is also known as “a stress-causing event” (Hoeger & Hoeger, 2012). Stressors can take all different forms, from moving to a new town, having a baby, or even writing a paper (Boyd, Wood, & Wood, 2011). One major stressor in life can be going to college. If not coped with properly, these stressors can leave a person with too much stress that could end up harming them mentally and physically, such as developing an illness (Boyd, Wood, & Wood, 2011). There are several ways to cope with stress. Some healthy ways to cope with stress would be practicing emotion-focused coping, building time-management techniques, and practicing meditation.
The cultural innovations analyses presented here illustrate the presence of cumulative cultural evolution in the upper Paleolithic and portray how a steady rate of change continuous with that seen in later human history.
