I looked back to see that Midnight had made it through the brush with no problems what-so-ever. Must be nice to be as small and as sleek as a cat sometimes, I thought as I watched her lick her front paw while staring at me from atop an old deadfall log that was halfway rotted. She soon finished cleaning herself, as so did I, and then she gave me a meow if as saying, Move your ass, girl, before taking off through the pines. I followed her ascension up a hill and through the spruces, but found myself struggling to keep up. As I would trip whenever I got my foot stuck in the occasional rabbit burrow or snagged on an exposed tree root or downed branches.
