AVID is a fun and educational elective that prepares me to go to college. AVID has also been helping me reach goals that I would had never expected to achieve.This elective has been really helpful for me but at the same time I am having some trouble in keeping up with work for class.I get a lower grade in AVID than in any other classes, so AVID is bringing my GPA down due to all the work. If I stay in AVID, then I don’t get the choice of any other electives besides Band, Chorus, and Orchestra. If I also had the choice to pick any elective with AVID like Spanish for example then I would remain in AVID.

electives that I am interested in, like Spanish does not require as much work to be done unlike in AVID. Therefore, if I got out of AVID and joined Spanish I would have less work to be doing and that would be helping my grades. And if I stayed in AVID I would have have more work to do. And since I have trouble sometimes doing the AVID work I have a lot of missing work or late work. Another one of my reasons of why I would like to leave AVID is because I get a lower grade in AVID than in any other classes that I have.
Since AVID is the class with my lowest grade it brings down my GPA . If my GPA is going down because of AVID then i’m getting lower chances in getting an award for honor roll or principal’s list. If I got out of AVID then my GPA wouldn’t be going down so much. And with A higher GPA, I would have a better chance of getting Principal’s list or honor roll. Getting Principal’s list or Honor roll would also let me get involved in more school activities.
My last reason for leaving AVID is because of the elective choices I get with AVID. My only other elective choices I have to choose from are Chorus, Band, and Orchestra. Since my only other choices are music I want to get out of AVID to join any other elective besides music electives. That I would also help to get an easy A if I get in Spanish because I wouldn’t have so much trouble in that class. Especially since I can speak and read Spanish.

be fluent in Spanish. I am planning to be fluent in Spanish because being fluent in Spanish can get me a better job. I also want to learn how to speak proper Spanish. I do know how to speak Spanish but most of the Spanish that I speak is not the proper way to speak it. Therefore, I want to leave AVID to get in Spanish so I can reach the new goals I have set for myself.
I joined Avid, because I knew it would help in college.Joining AVID in high school helped prepare me for college readiness and success in life. If i hadn’t joined avid i would be walking out of high school clueless to what to do next. I believed the program would have me better prepared for life after high school. Avid provides you with everything you need to know about college, and the skills needed to succeed in it.
There will be opportunities for you to take, such as sports like football, basketball or clubs like FFA or Trust. I decided to stick with cross country and FCCLA. They have help me, with FCCLA I have grown as a stronger leader, before FCCLA I was a shy kid, and now i'm a state officer. Also I have been able to travel the United States, from Washington D.C. to San Diego, and I have been able to meet some amazing people along the way. Recently the guidance department of Boston Latin School has instituted a new policy that limits the number of Advanced Placement classes students can enroll in during junior year. Previously students after being granted a waiver could take a maximum of four AP classes. However under the new guidelines all juniors are restricted to three. This is unfair to students who seek to reach their full academic potential.
Middle School and AVID has prepared me for high school in many different ways. I will use everything I have learned in middle school and AVID in order to achieve success in high school. I have learned skills such as managing my time, organizing my work, and taking good and quality notes. If I use these skills in high school I know I will succeed. I also know that these skills would make it easier for me to reach my goals in completing dual enrollment and receiving at least a 4.0 GPA.
I offer an immense amount of academic strengths and skills to the Advanced Placement program. To begin with, I excel in science, English, geography/ history and visual arts. My primary interests are in marine biology and the life sciences. However, I use my incredible work ethic to help guide me to success. I have often wondered what it would be like to experience the freedom of choosing my own class schedule. This has to be infinitely more stimulating and enjoyable. I am also aware that college will be significantly more challenging, but I have always found it easier to study for a class that interests me. I am willing to accept the fact that as long as I am in school, there will be required courses which may not engender excitement or enthusiasm; however, success should not be as difficult to achieve due to the maturity that is developing during this last year of high school. In addition, I have gained an understanding of the benefit of being well rounded. There is value in all classes taken. It helps to know that even my least favorite subject will contribute to the ultimate goal of personal and career development.
As a student in the classroom, I have consistently challenged myself with honors and AP classes. Some of these include various honors and AP Sciences, History, and English. Throughout my four years, I have stayed active in school by being a part of the baseball and the robotics program. I have also dabbled in the environmental club as well as best buddies. I had the opportunity to manage the varsity baseball team my junior year. During the course of my junior year as well, I was blessed with the privilege of being a member of the Mountain Pointe Robotics team, Pridetronics, and their drive team. Cliffside Park High School has offered me numerous opportunities. I took honors courses in English, mathematics, and science ever year. In addition, I have taken three years of Spanish as a third language and an advanced placement class for U.S. history. Throughout the past couple years; I have been able to sustain a high grade point average of about a 4.4 (based on calculations made at the end of sophomore year) and make High Honor Roll for almost every marking period. To me, extracurricular activities are not just clubs that I participate in to make my college application look more “full” and “impressive.” I participate in them because I enjoy being a part of them. An extracurricular that I am very passionate about is band. While I have played the piano since I was five, I wanted to be a part of a group of people that share the same passion for music as I do. Band has two seasons, marching and concert season, and I am a section leader for both of them. During marching season I am in charge of teaching the freshmen how to march, teaching them how to play their instrument, and teaching them the basics of marching season and what to expect. I am present at all of the auditions, camps, and practices, and I help anyone that is in need of it. Since I am in percussion, we have auditions to see what instrument we will be on during marching season. I chose to stay on my instrument from last year to improve on my technique and playing, as well as to help the incoming freshmen that will be new to the instrument. Since I am the front ensemble (a part of the percussion section) section leader, I assigned the music, I moved all of the instruments outside (along with the help of fellow percussionists), and I lead practices for my section. The multitudes of extracurricular and academic activities I participate in were chosen because of their focus on my interests. I want to pursue a career in computer engineering and/or biological engineering. In order to help me accomplish this I carefully consider how extracurricular and academic activities will assist me in the future. Currently I am participating in several rigorous academic courses such as AP Physics C and AP Calculus BC to gear me towards a college environment, as well as a variety of clubs that focus on engineering and the sciences. A vast majority of the classes I take are advanced placement, which gives me the chance to obtain college credit before entering college. Advance placement classes also challenge me with faster paced instruction, which prepare me for the speed and difficulty of college level courses. I am currently taking AP Biology, AP Computer Science A, , AP Literature and Composition, AP U.S. Government and Politics, Pre-AP Chinese IV, and Honors Independent Research. In terms of extracurricular activities, I currently participate in the Stock Market Club, Science and Engineering Club, our school’s FRC team, and Chinese Club. I’ve just entered my senior year of high school. I know that this is a very important year. I have a lot of decisions to make and not much time to make them. These decisions will either make or break my life, and I want to make sure that I make them to the best of my ability because there is no turning back. I need to make sure I definitely want to attend college. The decision is totally up to me. There are many positives and negatives of attending college. Go over them, and then decide. I know myself better then anyone else, and I won’t let anyone else tell me what to do. I will make sure if I am going to attend college that I have something in mind that I will want to do, to succeed in. Choosing a major can be a very stressful situation so why not sit down and take some time to do it? Be creative, don’t rush, give yourself plenty of time and really think about what interests you in life. In the beginning of the semester, I thought it would be enjoyable to take Anatomy and Physiology since I had already taken it in high school and actually received a high grade. I had heard from many students that this class is much harder in college and will often have a big lecture setting with more than three-hundred students, but I brushed this off and went into the classroom with a positive attitude. I quickly learned that big lectures were not the classes that I would succeed in, instead I preferred a small classroom setting where I am able to ask questions whenever needed. I began taking advanced placement classes to challenge myself, to be the best I can be. Although it was difficult to maintain good grades, practice 10 hours a week for the swim team, and working a part-time job, I enjoyed the push and the outcome I received at the end. Due to wanting to be in the Medical field, I took Honors Anatomy and Physiology in order to learn more about the human body; prepare myself for the memorization and the use of note cards. All the information felt like my head was bottled up, I wanted to enjoy my high school years, because “they pass by so fast, make the best of them” my brother would constantly say to me but failed to mention if I really wanted to do what I loved, I had to let all that go and focus on school; which became my biggest responsibility. There were times where I just wanted to take the easy way out and drop the class, but I knew no good would come from that; instead I balanced out my schedule by prioritizing my time between school, practice and work.
