College is a unique experience for the freshman coming to the college of their choice. College, in general, is harder, larger, and can also be more fun than any other high school. It is, however, imperative for one to get into college and to be able to succeed, one must have the right skills, attributes, and must put that everything else together to make a quality college student. UMBC is a great college and it requires great students. I believe that I have the traits to become a good college student, but I also have goals, dreams, and a passion to be a great person, on the campus and off the campus. In this paper, I will tell all I have to tell about the strengths, goals, dreams, and challenges that I have or will have to overcome. My goals and dreams in life are very …show more content…
I want to live a healthy life, I want to get married and have kids, and I want to be a successful person, but, those seem very boring goals to me as well. I love to have fun and whenever I can smile, I feel better about the situation I maybe going through. One of my strengths that I received from the StrengthFinder survey that my class did in COMP 101 was “Belief”, and my faith is one of my most important goals that I wish to continue to grow and work on. I did find to be interesting that “Belief” was chosen for me because I have religious background, so it was nice to see that even the strength survey confirmed my faith. I have many different dreams that I want to pursue, so it is tough to pick out which one means the most to me. It is good to have a variety of dreams, because if one doesn’t work out, there are plenty of other ones you can choose from. One of my primary dreams is working for a tech company named Google. I love
Success isn’t always so easy. Sometimes there are risks and factors that play along to allow for growth. However; personal development is a lifelong process. It’s a way for individuals to assess their skills and qualities, and consider their aims in life to set goals in order to maximise their potential. In order to receive the best outcome; there may need to be obstacles and challenges in the way to prevent an easy route to reach the top in success.
My fifth goal is the last but by no mean least, it is my lifelong goal to please God and make heaven my home. Some would argue that this is not a professional goal. To me, it is both professional and personal. When my life is pleasing to God, it will also be reflected in my professional life. Proverbs 16:7 (KJV) says “When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Every person has strengths and weaknesses, now to take a closer look at
In all parts of life there are periods of adversity that we must face, the real challenge however, is what and how we gain from conquering those trials. There have been many times that I have been faced with adversity, it has happened in all aspects of my life at one time or another. Whether it is dealing with the ups and downs of hockey or balancing the pressure that comes with an elite hockey schedule and high school, there are always obstacles. Some of these challenges can bring about positive effects that influence the path of one’s life. In one such experience of mine, the amount of adversity was not near as great as the positive out come that came from my experience.
It is easy to forget that a huge part of your success in college is staying healthy, keeping a sharp mind and sound body. It is very important to eat right and to maintain a routine sleeping schedule. Staying active and making sure you get enough sleep so that you can keep yourself healthy. A recent study found that walking once a day increase your memorization, which in turn helps you to do better studying.
Most people today think of college as simply a place to get a better education, or merely as a steppingstone to financial success. College is far more than that. College is an experience that shapes a person, which can have both positive and negative outcomes. It is all up to the students to make the college experience worth their time and effort. Students must realize the importance of the responsibilities now demanded of them by higher education.
For personal and professional growth, given my personality traits, I need to embrace my strengths and weaknesses. I must use my strengths to my advantage, to be more effective academically and in the workplace, but I also need to identify and try to overcome my weaknesses, especially professionally.
How do most people define success? People who aim for material life may think that success is having a huge amount of money or getting a high position. Others who do not care about material may think that success is to have a peaceful and happy life. There is no right or wrong because people define success based on their own background and experience. And for many students, success in college only equals to their academic achievements such as getting good grades and graduate with a high degree. However, success in college should be defined with the achievement in four different areas, including academic achievement, academic engagement, time management, and social life.
Writing about my personal strengths is a challenging task that requires me to focus on the strong points that make up my character. However, to attack my weaknesses, is to challenge myself to take control over the areas that need some redefining of certain skills to make greatest success in life. My life is not defined by weaknesses, but more so the makeup of my personal strengths.
I bet you thought I was going to say 'Get Clear On Your Goals! ' but that 's not the first thing you need to for happiness. Your beliefs make you who you are. Therefore, if you are unhappy,
Your goal is not your desires, but the confidence and optimism of your higher self having already received your desires. When you achieve that, everything will follow. The expectation of success is half the journey. Your moral and holy values will be pronounced in your
Faith has built me to the exact person I was created to be and the person I want my children to learn from. My dream is to spread The Gospel and teach the world how to survive the storms that stir in our brains and hearts. The waves that crash against the walls of my mind can be calmed by the Words of God. We can not only breathe but we can truly live. Without the Bible, I would’ve never learned how to survive the deep scary waters.
My strongest qualities, determination and independence, are deeply rooted in my family. Coming from an extremely tight-knit family all living within 30 minutes of each other, we bring new meaning to the cliché, “It takes a village.” My Aunt Betty is CEO of two corporations and taught me to sacrifice nothing for my dreams. My Grandmother, having borne seven children of her own and cared for twenty-one grandchildren while working with her husband in the family business, taught me that I do not have to sacrifice one for the other- prosperity comes in the balance. My strength comes from my mother. Having overcome obstacles and making immeasurable sacrifices, she lives her dreams through her three daughters. She never accepts anything from the best from me and I do my best not to disappoint her. She instilled in me the strength to have MY OWN dreams and to never be afraid of them. Individuality emanates from my Aunt Kathy, as she has always encouraged me to break the conventional molds of femininity and go after what I desire.
Personal Statement (Rough Draft) All my life, I had been told to try my hardest and to push through any obstacle that came my way. Whether it be a personal issue or a simple quiz, I would always manage to triumph. The burden of struggle has always been in my family. Before I was even born, my family was suffering a terrible crisis in their homeland: Afghanistan.
Tony Hsieh the CEO of Zappos once said “Chase the vision, not the money, the money will end up following you.” My dream job is to own my own business someday to become an entrepreneur. “Entrepreneur is someone who has a vision of something and a want to create” once said by David Karp, Tumblr founder and CEO. To take responsibility to be the person that is the leader of my team. To help my vision come to life and be successful at it, I will need to reach my goals and gain knowledge. My wiliness to help others find their goals in life and them to accomplish them.
The time to breathe before advancing further in my future projects, the difficult moments instead of discouraging me, these moments give me motivation and the necessary energy to move forward. I am optimist but realistic. My parents taught me that we live in a world that is constantly changing and to succeed we need a smart plan and the ability to adapt and adjust to the changing world environment but more importantly one need to prepare one’s self to succeed. We need discipline and above all an unshakable will to resist difficulties when they happen. “An ongoing work of art” would probably be one of the best ways to describe my life. From very early on in life, I have learn that I can be the artist of my own life through guidance and hard work, I learned that we are the architecture of our life, the artist of our own destiny through work, commitment and determination. Every route taken or not taken will somehow impact our existence and leave a trail like a shooting star in the night sky, the beauty of the trail depends entirely on the nature of our actions in life. This is the first time in my existence I have had the opportunity to write the story of my life in detail. This exercise
