It’s 6 am, Monday morning,I have to get ready for school with this alarm screaming in my ears. A big way on how to spot an 8th grader is by the size of their backpack. If it’s gigantic their probably an 8th grader, because going to your locker is a waste of valuable passing period time. I have been in school for nine years now and every year is new experiences, so far this year it has been very overwhelming with all the homework, projects, tests, etc.. But I have a feeling that i’m going to get used to it pretty fast. Three things teachers should know about us 8th graders is that most of us barely have any time for homework, people wake up early to go to school so we don’t focus that much in 1st hour, and finally most of us like to have a social life but they can’t because of homework. One thing you should know about 8th graders is that some of us barely have any time for homework. Like it’s currently football season, so it’s 3 out of 5 days of the week, and when all of us get home we get a total of maybe 45-60 minutes to do lie 3 classes worth of homework. But that’s just football there’s other extra curricular clubs that make you stay back after school. Plus some people go to sleep earlier than we do so they get even less time than others do. We also get to wake up very early every morning to go to school, some …show more content…
A lot of us know from personal experiences that if you keep making rainchecks on plans with friends for homework purposes , that they’re going to think you don’t want to hang out with them anymore. Plus a lot of us like to got to the football games on Friday nights. But us football players have a game in the morning so we can get some rest. So we have to stay home and finish our homework instead of hanging out with friends at the games. And a lot of us would rather be at the game with our friends rather than home
The first major step in healing America’s exhausted teenagers is to reduce the amount of homework they receive. Kids from the ages of fourteen to twenty-two alike are expected to play sports, join clubs, and hang out with friends – all on top of an average of three and a half hours of h...
79% of American middle school and high school students take part regularly in at least one after-school extracurricular activity. Many students participate in sports that can take up to 4 hours of their time, daily. Homework takes time to do after school and extracurriculars. If a student goes to school at 9:00 and gets out at 4:00, then goes to an after-school activity from 4:00 to 6:00, they will come home and have dinner from about 6:30 to 7:15, which means that they will probably start homework at around 7:30. This means that high school students will be up until about 11:00 finishing their homework, that’s without factoring in how much time the students will waste.
Most kids in school play a sport or does an afterschool activities. Right after school they go to their program and when that program is done they go home. Now, the hours those kids go home could be around 5 to 8. When those kids get home they’re not thinking about homework. They’re thinking about eat and then sleep. Homework doesn’t even come to their mind. Homework comes to their mind when it’s time to go to school and by then it’s already too late to do homework. Kids just don’t have the time to do homework. Coming home after a long day of practice, the kids going to be tired, and the kid has responsibility. The kid has to do his chores, clean his room, fix the bed and after all that he has to help his little sister or brother with their homework and that’s going to take another hour. By the time the kid has time to himself it’s time for him to go to the bed and he can’t go to bed because he has to do his homework and his homework is going to take another hour. That kid is probably going to bed around 10 or 11. He’s not going to sleep. After that he has to repeat the same process all over again. This routine is going to have a huge effect on the kid. This routine is going to affected him in his school work. He didn’t get enough sleep so when his in class he’s going to be sleeping and when his doing his work, he’s not going to be focus and well activate because his brain isn’t awake yet. These are all the effects homework will have on these kids. My friend told me this story about her cousin. She told me has an after school activities and after the after school activities he has to help his little sister and she says ‘’He’s being falling behind on his work because he doesn’t have time to do his homework.’’ I don’t blame him. Teachers love to give a lot of homework and teachers believe kids have time to do all that homework when they actually
Todays students are busier than they have ever been in American history. Homework is a large contributor to this. The average student in America has approximately four hours of homework each night. If students start homework right when they get home from school, that gives them free time starting at 7:00 PM. The majority of students also have jobs. So. between school, work, homework, and practice, that leaves them virtually no time to be able to hang out with friends or to participate in family activities.
Most important, we have homework every night and some kids forget to do a certain homework because we have a lot. It’s not hard to do but, we don’t feel like doing it every single night except Fridays. After we do our homework one night we come in to school with a whole bunch of answers wrong. Homework is a waste. It doesn’t make sense.
When your child has a long day of sports and they are tired and overwhelmed, but they still have homework that takes about two hours, it is just too much. Over the years, students have gone through needless misery and they have missed sport events just to do homework. Today, students still go through the same problem even if they are in first grade or a junior in highschool. Homework is the teachers top priority now a days. Teachers will punish you if you are too busy to do your homework even though you already have learned the same concept over and over again.
to allow students to get healthy sleep. More than 4 in 5 (82.3%) of U.S. middle, high, and combined public schools require students to attend class at times earlier than recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and American Medical Association.(Wake Up Calls) Our school is part of the 82.3% that start before 8:30 a.m and my opinion on it is that if we started school at 8:30 a.m. or even at 9:00 a.m. I would feel more rested and prepared for the day. I’m pretty sure a lot of other students would agree with
Schools find homework beneficial to students, but the amounts of homework given needs a reduction. The schools have debated the use of homework, causing modifications to the system of homework. They have also looked back into times as early as the nineteenth century, to find old techniques that may help students in today’s world. Countless hours of research, has proven that the human mind cannot process amplitude amounts of information in so much time. Homework can lead to academic success, and it becomes crucial to a student’s life. Although, it causes students to become stressed and losing time to do other in school or out of school activities. In today’s times, teachers need to understand how times have change
Do you like taking a mountain of homework home? Well if you do then get off of this, but if you don’t like taking a mountain of homework home then keep on reading. One reason why students should have less homework is because when they come home they have a lot of stress because they have a lot of homework when they come home. When they come home instead of spending time with their family they have to do their homework and different people have different speed rates of doing their homework. One last reason is that some children have after school activities so they might not even have enough time to do their homework because they had no time to do it.
Kids must have less homework because its effect the sports. One reason is When kids get home from sports and all they want to do is rest they can’t because they have to start their homework they have to start it otherwise it will be late. Another reason is Some kids have to stay home from their practices and games because they have too much homework and they have to finish They have to because if they don't get it done they won't
Imagine this. You have eight hours of school, you get out at 3:05pm, then let's say you do a sport or do some extracurricular activity and you don't get home till 6:00pm. This is just on a normal day. Some days you might have to do other things and go out even more before you get home. Even when you get home you still have other things to do at home besides homework.
Ring! The bell has rung letting you know school is finally over. You slowly trudge to your locker to get all the homework and textbooks you’ll need. Once again your teachers have piled you with lots of homework that you know will take you hours to do. Every single school day, hundreds of schools across the country assign homework every night. This leads to hours of work after school that many students just don’t want to do. Many parents and schools think homework is helpful. However, this may not be the case. Schools should not assign homework because students need time to relax, and too much homework may cause health problems.
Many balance extra-curriculars such as sports and music with a job, school, and social activities. There is just no way that squeezing in an extra class into their already busy schedule would be helpful. But, there is enough time. A homework class would only be acting as a substitute for the time spent at home doing homework! So instead of having set aside time for one's homework later on in the night, they will be given the opportunity to get it done in school.
The fact of going back to school means much for kids as they are excited of seeing again their friends, looking forward to have new experiences and it is also mean the resumption of homework which children have to do at home in the evening with great dismay for some of them, surrounded by their parents who try to help as much as they can. The pertinence of homework makes a general consensus even if kids don’t always agree with the way of giving them. After questioning some children under the age of 10, 3rd and 4th graders, I always obtain the same type of answer as the following: “It is quite demanding, it always is more difficult than what we did in class, it is not as easy
For an average middle school student, it takes around 90 minutes to complete homework every day. According to a study made by Harris Cooper, a professor at Duke University If kids have to complete more than an hour of homework a day and also have an extracurricular activity, then it can make them go to bed late and then the next day they would not be able to play their best in their activity. Homework is a bomb. Most schools encourage kids to be in extracurricular activities and most of them are after school for usually and hour or more and then put another hour of homework on top of that and eating dinner and doing chores that can take until 9 and studies show that kids around 9-12 should go to bed around 7:30-9:00 and if they are used to going to bed at 8 then they will be way too tired and will be too tired to play in their next extracurricular activity. Homework is a knife. Research shows that you should get at least 7 hours of sleep a night. So if you go to bed at 11:45 and take a few hours to go to sleep and end up at going to sleep at 2 and wake up at 7 then you 're only getting 5 hours of sleep a night because of homework and that is not enough sleep and can make you do terrible at your big game! That is why teachers should not be allowed to give homework after school, maybe they can give it over lunch or
