Imagine this. You have eight hours of school, you get out at 3:05pm, then let's say you do a sport or do some extracurricular activity and you don't get home till 6:00pm. This is just on a normal day. Some days you might have to do other things and go out even more before you get home. Even when you get home you still have other things to do at home besides homework. Homework could effect sleeping, could cause stress, could effect social time, and isnt the best for learning. Students should not have to homework over top of their already busy day.
The first reason students should not have homework is it could effect their sleeping schedule. Students already spend over half of the day at school learning. Students are tired when they come home. If a student has to do homework after an already busy day, they could be up past midnight trying to complete it. Most adults get angry or upset if they aren't able to spend time with their friends or family. Students should get the same respect. Some parents get mad at teenagers for staying in their room. Teens need to be able to be social without having to worry about homework that is due. Students have to go to school for most of the day, they should at least have the rest of the day to be with family and other social activities. Also, people do not think of the consequences such as conflicts with transportation.
A article by Annie Murphy Paul called The ´´Trouble With Homework´´ talks about how homework is like a double shift for High School, Middle School, or College School students as their first shift is 7-9 hours in school per day. The trouble with homework is that students have other things to do after school like sports, hobbies, or a job that they have to attend to after school. Some students also want to just relax after school and have a good time with friends or family and homework is affecting them because they always worry about it and can't do things they want to because they have to finish it. One mother said ´´School for [my son] is work´´ as she is referring that when her son comes home he has to work another 1-5 on his homework and

Elementary kids having physical problems just from homework can eventually lead to other possible problems down the road. These problems include substance abuse, becoming a high school dropout, and possibly death by suicide. So why risk a student’s life for a few homework

In conclusion, homework is a waste of time. Time that can be better spent is with family and having fun participating in extracurricular activities. Eliminating homework allows students the reward of free time and the invaluable time spent with family. Homework creates unnecessary stress and strain for parents and students alike. Also, homework allows teachers to pawn off their own teaching responsibilities to students and parents with hours of homework. Homework is not beneficial and it should be banned for students Kindergarten thru 8th grade.
Many parents are also bothered over the force of homework on the connection between their kids and teens.... ... middle of paper ... ... Think about how much homework we’ve done since we were in kindergarten, how many times we’ve stayed up and woke up half-awake, how many times we’ve kept others awake, and how much paper we’ve wasted. If you think that is a lot, think of all of the students around the world doing the same.
As Kelly Wallace mentions in her article “Kids Have Three Times Too Much Homework, Study Finds; What’s the Cost?" homework is a reason for damaging students. homework causes a lot of stress, and affects physical health such as ulcers, migraines, lack of sleep, and weight loss. The writer thinks too much homework is actually harmful to students. Additionally, a majority of high school students think excessive homework is not beneficial to their academic achievement or GPA, and there is some evidence that it’s harmful to other aspects such as school attitude, grades, self-confidence, social skills, and quality of life.

This, unfortunately, is almost a complete lie. It is true that homework can provide some academic advantages, however these benefits almost only affect those in upper high school grades 10 through 12. And to make things worse, these benefits are only gained with moderate to light amounts of homework, so most of these students never reap the benefits of homework. This is because they are simply given way too much. Most high school students receive between 90 minutes and two hours of homework per night, and some students up to three hours.
Teachers should limit the homework they give a student each night because students don’t have very much time after school so with the homework, teachers currently enforce on students they don’t have very much time to complete other important tasks, another reason is less homework will allow students to have more rest for the following school day due to them staying up late at night trying to finish their assignments, and lastly it will allow stress relief for many students due to homework being one of the leading causes of stress in teens throughout high school.
Fast forward to 2:00PM. Now you’re looking at an enormous amount of homework, and with limited amount of time to complete it, on your hands. With a job, a sport, or after-school activities, it restricts the student even more. The negotiation of arranging later school times, leads to safer, and better academic performances. For most high school students, it’s difficult waking up at around 6AM, coming home at around 10PM on certain school days due to a job or a sport, and still be productive enough to deal with homework, or studying for tests.
The last reason why students shouldn’t have homework is because if they don’t get enough sleep, they might fall asleep in class. Students getting adequate sleep would allow them to be more focused
Students are bombarded with hours of homework every night and it interferes with their lives. They are tired of staying up late at night to finish their homework or a paper that is due the next day. They should not have this workload that they have every night because they also have to live their childhood. Life is too short to be staying up until 11:00 because of schoolwork. Homework is unhealthy for students and it is not academically beneficial for them.
Adding on to stress, homework also cuts into students’ family time at home. According to Peter Druker, the editor of Huffpost stated, “Children need time to spend with their family, catch up with friends and attend extracurricular activities so they can refresh their minds and bodies. Sadly, homework eats up the time children have to do all these” (Druker online). Druker is explaining how students need to take a break and focus on their other important activities after school as well
Natalie Wolchover says,”Inundating children with hours of homework each night is detrimental, the research suggests, while an hour or two per week usually doesn't impact test scores one way or the other. However, homework only bolsters students' academic performance during their last three years of grade school. ”This supports the claim Too Much Homework Is Bad For Kids because less homework makes kids not feel
