We are a 501-C3 non-profit youth skateboard club trying to expand. Our membership currently consists of fifty local families living within the town of New Hope! Many families from surrounding towns have begun to show an interest in joining our organization so their children could also have a safe environment to improve their skills and enjoy the sport of skateboarding. Our organization realized we needed a permanent home for our skate club, we needed an official skate park within our town to continue to grow and provide our children a place to improve their skills on a daily basis. Our organization appointed a committee to achieve this goal. We first attended New Hope’s recreation meeting to propose our new skate park within the town’s recreation …show more content…
To do this, we enlisted the help of a local architect who agreed to help up pro-bono. With our skatepark design complete the committee started the process of seeking funding for our project. We also had to go to the town hall and find out the population of the town, the parks and recreation budget, the annual municipal budget, any laws that ban the sport of skateboarding and the restrictions in the area. Next, our committee applied to the Tony Hawk Foundation for a money grant that if approved could get our organization $25,000 towards our project! However, what we did not know was that what most foundations and even government agencies have assigned a time line for theses types of applications. The next date that the Tony Hawk Foundation would accept any application for grants would be between May 3,2016 until June 16,2016 and any approved grants submitted in this time frame would be announced during July …show more content…
This letter went to explain our mission statement and our goal requesting their help in the building of our skatepark which is located in the local community. We were seeking any type of donation these larger companies would provide us with following this letter. Once we meet the towns basic criteria and with an architect stamped design in hand, we began the process of having the recreation board vote on approving our skatepark. The recreation board would then present it to the town board requesting their approval. At this point, all we would be waiting upon would be the funds. Unfortunately, the application process for grants were much more intense requiring all the criteria we used for the towns approval plus more. Once we have all the necessary documentations we must wait for the application date to submit our request. We then await the foundations and answers to begin out

The tournmanent has only been limited to college students, we would like invite other community members to join in on the tournament. The tournament will take place in the middle of the spring semester.

Sea-Tac area has accessible transportation. The A-line stops all around SeaTac and just last year a new station was added which has made it easier for the residents who travel to Seattle Area. I choose these demographics because Sea-Tac is growing city with a diverse group people and I was curious about the income of the families. When I doing some research on the demographics of the residents of Sea-Tac I found that 20.5% of the population are in poverty and about 26,965 people who are mainly families live below the poverty line which is higher than the national average of 14.7%. The most well-known race or ethnicity living below the poverty line neediness line in SeaTac, WA is Black or African American, trailed by White and Hispanic or Latino. While researching I also found that the most common jobs in SeaTac, WA by a number of employees are Administrative; sales and Transportation. After seeing that transportation was one of the top jobs in Sea-Tac and it explains why Sea-Tac has a variety of transportation and a regular A-line transit/rail travel and I wanted to see how frequent the transit is. The community site development would be a convenient place to get to since it is located in an area that is walkable and close to it there is the 195th Angle Lake bus stop and Angle Lake light rail station. The frequent transit and rail station helps the residents

The debate on whether all healthcare institutions should be nonprofit, or for profit brings back many complex issues that need to be solved. What should be examined is whether nonprofit hospitals are better than for profit hospitals, and whether there is enough evidence or data to support as to whether one is better than the other.

As a native of Lancaster, I feel an obligation to act and do something that will benefit my community. I am well aware of the many perils that youth face, and these obstacles can be extremely difficult to overcome without positive figures to aid and provide guidance. There is a great need for an intensive mentoring program within the community to positively influence the lives of youth. For The Land of Dreams, I have proposed to host a community basketball tournament to raise funds to implement a mentoring program to assist in the personal growth and career development of youth in Lancaster County and surrounding areas. The program will form partnerships with local school districts and the juvenile court system. This event will aid Lancaster County by providing additional discretionary resources that will be used to fund such activities as tutoring programs, leadership courses, and college tours.
There are a variety of youth programs that rely on volunteers, including sports leagues, field trips, special events, camps, and classes. Parks and recreation agencies should consider using volunteers for programs such as these, as volunteers can provide special skills, experiences, and connections, frees up staff time and resources, bring unique viewpoints, ideas, and feedback to the table, can help the agency extend its services, and offer a way for the community to get involved in the organization’s programming (Guide, 2011). Just as there are benefits to using volunteers in youth programs, there are also difficulties that arise. Recruiting suitable volunteers and letting go of unsuitable volunteers can be a tough and lengthy pr...
Our project is to make a blueprint for Arkansas Storm Shelter or Home advisor to use to make a storm shelter. At school getting under desks isn't safe enough but with the storm shelter we will be safer. All of the students, teachers, and parents will benefit from this because the students and teachers will be safer and the parents won't have an injured or killed child. My team in Logan Halfacre and Matthew Heartsel. Our storm shelter will be done by the end of the year. We have used sketchUp to make the blueprint. We will get our grant from grant gopher. After our research towards Arkansas Storm Shelter and Home advisor that we have done, the have low costs and have done good jobs. We will need to get permission from the school board to build
