We are a 501-C3 non-profit youth skateboard club trying to expand. Our membership currently consists of fifty local families living within the town of New Hope! Many families from surrounding towns have begun to show an interest in joining our organization so their children could also have a safe environment to improve their skills and enjoy the sport of skateboarding. Our organization realized we needed a permanent home for our skate club, we needed an official skate park within our town to continue to grow and provide our children a place to improve their skills on a daily basis. To do this, we enlisted the help of a local architect who agreed to help up pro-bono. With our skatepark design complete the committee started the process of seeking funding for our project. We also had to go to the town hall and find out the population of the town, the parks and recreation budget, the annual municipal budget, any laws that ban the sport of skateboarding and the restrictions in the area. Next, our committee applied to the Tony Hawk Foundation for a money grant that if approved could get our organization $25,000 towards our project! However, what we did not know was that what most foundations and even government agencies have assigned a time line for theses types of applications. The next date that the Tony Hawk Foundation would accept any application for grants would be between May 3,2016 until June 16,2016 and any approved grants submitted in this time frame would be announced during July …show more content…

This letter went to explain our mission statement and our goal requesting their help in the building of our skatepark which is located in the local community. We were seeking any type of donation these larger companies would provide us with following this letter. Once we meet the towns basic criteria and with an architect stamped design in hand, we began the process of having the recreation board vote on approving our skatepark. The recreation board would then present it to the town board requesting their approval. At this point, all we would be waiting upon would be the funds. Unfortunately, the application process for grants were much more intense requiring all the criteria we used for the towns approval plus more. Once we have all the necessary documentations we must wait for the application date to submit our request. We then await the foundations and answers to begin out
