Writing has always been my passion. With this passion I have discovered other artistic talents I possess. It has lead me to a desire to start my own publishing and film business. However, I not only wish to further my career, but assist in the artistic growth of Christian teens in my community and beyond with the creation of my own non-profit. This non-profit will aid Christian teen artists (ages 12-19), from all art backgrounds, in gaining guidance, knowledge and supplies. It will also aid in growing their skills by teaching them to employ their supplies and knowledge and expanding upon them. This organization, hereafter known as the Emerald Rosebud Foundation or ERF, will be created from the funds of my future businesses. It's location will be near my movie studio. I will have a center large enough to assist in the training of these individuals and to store supplies and …show more content…
Through a blog, I will document the process of the setup and the continuing events of my project. Each week, a handful of lucky students will also have the chance to have their art documented and promoted. Through various forms of social media, including Facebook, Google+, and YouTube, I will display links to my sites, and addresses to events. I will also upload videos and commercials of and for the ERF. Bi-monthly I will help my students set up and perform talent shows in the community. These talent shows will supply exposure to the project, and also allow the young artists from the community the chance to show off their talents and the opportunity to sign up in the foundation as well. Four times a year, fundraisers will be held where a group of my best students will perform or show off their talents or masterpieces to the community eye. All these events will hopefully provide exposure and the boost needed to the ERF to grow and expand in the community and maybe even
Analysis of CAFOD (A Charity Organization) The charity I am going to analyse and explain is CAFOD. CAFOD was formed in 1961when the National Board of Catholic Women decided to carry out a family fast day, because the people of the Caribbean Island of Dominica had requested help for a mother and baby health care programme. A year after the family fast day the Catholic bishops of England and Wales decided to set up the “Catholic Fund for Overseas Development” or “CAFOD”. The main aim of this charity was to bring together the vast number of smaller charities and to educate Roman Catholics in England and Wales about the need for world development and also to raise money for developing countries. Even now CAFOD is still helping all around the world thanks to the support of Catholics in England and Wales.
Non-Profit organizations are a major mold in society in general, and they continue to help advance many of the social causes of our time. From the description, we know that employee and volunteer morale is quite low, and that is the fault of the senior management. In an organization, it is important that each individual knows that they are contributing to something larger than themselves. In many cases, employees seek to work somewhere where they can earn a living, but also where they can become a member of a team, and feel a sense of purpose. When they are not treated with respect or given the ability to make their own decisions, they lose engagement and become stagnant in their work. Volunteers look for much of the same thing; they are, after
Weinstein, S. (2002). The complete guide to fund-raising management (2nd ed.). New York: John Wiley & Sons.
It has 3 staff members in its Southern California Office; 2 staff members in its Northern California Office; and 1 staff member in its Central California Office (Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, n.d.). Actually, the total number of full-time employees of the Foundation is 6 for all its three branches. This is an indication that the organization may be suffering from financial resource constraints, which makes it unable to hire an adequate number of full-time employees, especially if it truly intends to achieve its objectives and goals. Poor financial resource and inadequate staff present a threat to the survival of this Foundation. Therefore, the Foundation tries to correct this deficit by implementing volunteer programs to assist in the running of its activities and programs (Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, n.d.). However, the overreliance on volunteers is also not healthy for an organization because volunteers require a lot of financial, material, and time resources to be invested in training them, which is evident that the foundation lacks. The end result is that most of the organization’s programs are never
Describe the differences between nonprofit and for-profit hospitals. William & Torres provided a table to reflect hospital ownership, and noted that some hospitals, while owned by one type of entity, may be operating under a contract by another entity, such as a hospital management company (Williams & Torres, page 185). Some of the largest groups of hospitals in the nation are nonprofit community hospitals (Williams & Torrens, page 185). Nonprofit entities, including hospitals, function under special provisions of corporation law in each state, and under federal and state tax provisions that recognize their community service function (Williams & Torrens, page 185).
Tiyatien Health is a non-profit organization working towards rebuilding rural healthcare in war-torn countries. This charity brings medical care to some of the most remote corners of Liberia. It was implemented by a group of Liberian civil war survivors and American healthcare workers to seek justice for Liberia’s healthcare crisis. Raj Panjabi, Alphonso Mouwon, Weafus Quitoe, Marcus Kudee, Theo Neewrayson, and Amisha Raja co-founded the organization and were later joined by Peter Luckow in 2009. The name “Tiyatien Health”, meaning ‘justice in health’ in the local language came to be known as Last Mile Health in 2013. This organization recruits, trains, and manages members of the community, to provide safe healthcare for those in need that
The Clay Arts Center, the Boys and Girls Club of Newburgh, the Center for Creative Education, The Rockland Music Conservatory and the Wallkill River Art School have placed themselves as agents of change within their communities. Although they function like most non-profit do, their unique placement and responsibility considers addressing challenges and opportunities specific to their organizational entity, community and programming influences while also working towards a financial balance of maintaining funding and generating means by which to continue their mission.
Nonprofit Organizations The purpose of this research is to define nonprofit organizations, describe opportunities that are present in nonprofits, outline advantages and disadvantages of working in the nonprofit sector, and explain how you can determine if this is an area for you to consider as a career. WHAT IS THE NONPROFIT SECTOR? "Nonprofit" is a term that the I.R.S. uses to define tax-exempt organizations whose money or "profit" must be used solely to further their charitable or educational mission, rather than distribute profits to owners or shareholders as in the for-profit sector. The term is also used to describe organizations which are not a branch of -- are independent of -- the government and the corporate sector. This term refers to one of the most important uniqueness of a nonprofit organization: it is independent of both the public or government sector and the private or corporate sector.
The biblical worldview is essentially the integration of fundamental biblical teachings to become a meaningful and unified response to the routine opportunities and challenges of modern life. An individual wholly inscribed into a biblical worldview projects a belief system that the core purpose of existence is to love and serve the Lord God alone. Essentially, a Christian worldview is formed in reference of the infallible living Word of God (Tackett, 2014). After a believer fully believes the living Word of God then allows it to form the basis of everything in their life. That implies, for instance, that when a believer chooses to pursue Romans 13 to respect people in authority then must take priority in voting and electing new leaders into power. A bible believing person should lead a life that portrays the biblical teachings and truths. As practical Christians our gut reaction should be limited to the biblical established truths (Wayne, 2014).
“You never know how strong you are, until being strong is your only choice.” This quote by Bob Marley describes how every parent feels when their child is born (Ringly, 2014). Having a child challenges every inch of your mind, body and soul. It pushes you farther than you ever thought imagined. This is especially true for parents of premature babies or babies born with a birth defect. The non-profit organization March of Dimes’ mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. March of dimes was originally founded by President Franklin Roosevelt under the name The National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. In 1938, he founded this organization to establish aid polio patients and
Nonprofit and for-profit businesses have multiple similarities and differences. For-profit organizations are very different from non-profit organizations because the driving goal of a for-profit organization is increasing its revenue whereas a non-profit organization will not go out of business if it suffers financial loss or does not have a bottom-line. The marketing process also differs, with the biggest differentiating factor of profit marketing is to encourage customers to buy and while the nonprofit marketing purpose is usually to encourage people to give. This means that the return on investment differs between the two. Although the principles of marketing remain the same, some of the methods must, of necessity, be different. Because of the intense involvement in the community as well as support from government, agencies non-profit firms should not compete in the same markets as for profit companies nor in anyway position their organization in any way to give the impression that their efforts could be commercial based (Nelson, 2002).
One assessment tool that I think every non-profit organization should have is the Assessing and building your organization capacity tool. This helps an organization better understand its policies, along with its managerial, financial, and administrative systems. This assessment shows an organization how to examine its assets such as funding reputation and skills which would allow the organization to effectively carry out their programs to better serve their communities(Foundation Center, 2017).
My current environment is a non-profit organization where project completion to within budget and schedule is the main goal. The program budget and schedule are derived from the excepted proposal. The program managers are the one who will determine the scope of a project using data from past similar projects, if there is one, to make educated guess of how long a project takes to complete. The estimate time the project takes to complete and the dollar amount require to do this is put in the proposal. The proposal is used as a bid for the project. If project is awarded, the program manager will design a detail cost schedule to be monitored and controlled. The estimate cost and the actual cost is closely monitor on weekly basis. If there
I think preparation for a career in the nonprofit sector should encompass both management skills and an understanding of civil society and the overall role of nonprofit organizations. Traditional management classes do not provide sufficient education in terms of preparing an individual for entering the nonprofit sector, however; management skills are essential to providing the day-to-day leadership that is necessary with any organized endeavor. Further, it is critical that an individual have a strong understanding of the mission oriented focus of non-profits. They need to be aware of not only their special regulatory requirements and obligations but also their roles in communities.
