There should be a community center that focuses on the distinct cultures of people that live in SeaTac. I have also noticed that there are not a lot of recreational sites and most residents go to other districts and cities for entertainment. This will allow for the residents to connect to their city and in result be an enjoyable place to live. If the people are engaged and know their city well this will lessen the effect of the other issues of urban design and increase the legibility and the people’s perception of the city is important. This city should become more community based especially on the unrepresented people and be recognized as a growing diverse city.
My proposed plan for this site is to create a community center. This could be

Sea-Tac area has accessible transportation. The A-line stops all around SeaTac and just last year a new station was added which has made it easier for the residents who travel to Seattle Area. I choose these demographics because Sea-Tac is growing city with a diverse group people and I was curious about the income of the families. When I doing some research on the demographics of the residents of Sea-Tac I found that 20.5% of the population are in poverty and about 26,965 people who are mainly families live below the poverty line which is higher than the national average of 14.7%. The most well-known race or ethnicity living below the poverty line neediness line in SeaTac, WA is Black or African American, trailed by White and Hispanic or Latino. While researching I also found that the most common jobs in SeaTac, WA by a number of employees are Administrative; sales and Transportation. After seeing that transportation was one of the top jobs in Sea-Tac and it explains why Sea-Tac has a variety of transportation and a regular A-line transit/rail travel and I wanted to see how frequent the transit is. The community site development would be a convenient place to get to since it is located in an area that is walkable and close to it there is the 195th Angle Lake bus stop and Angle Lake light rail station. The frequent transit and rail station helps the residents …show more content…
My proposal was this site is to develop a community center This could be a social place where individuals come and hang out. There could be an adolescent focus as well and events that can be arranged for all people to come and participate in. This site is walkable and there are many individuals who stroll past this site to get to Angle Lake Park and so it would be advantageous for those individuals it is situated here. This project allowed me to discover different aspects of a city that I have lived in for years and have learned more about the elements that make up a city and I’m able to identify them. I also got the chance to gain skills on map making and learned how to make maps on different demographics in cities which was interesting. I have also learned about how the elements that are used to build the structure of a city and the importance of how people perceive the environment. The observer which are the people select, organize, and gives a meaning to what’s being seen while the environment suggests characterizes and relations. In addition to that, I learned that cities should be built for the people and be a place where all people could live in comfortably and meet most of their needs. There should be more demand for public space for pedestrians, not for cars. Communities are created when people mingle with each other, which is an important part of the urban environment.
The Greenhill Community Center was a multi-service center in Coastal City. Its main purpose was to provide human service programs for various factors throughout life with an intergenerational setting. Some of these included day care, elder programs, music classes, and afterschool programs. It was founded in 1982 and was set up in an old schoolhouse. In short, this community center could use some help.

The Library of Hattiesburg, Petal and Forrest County is located in Forrest County, Mississippi. This public library system is headquartered in Hattiesburg, MS, and has an additional branch in Petal, MS. The library began serving the reading needs of the community with a circulating collection of books in 1916. Later that year it relocated to the lounge of the first floor of the Forrest County Courthouse. During World War I, the American Library Association established twelve branch libraries in Hattiesburg to serve citizens and soldiers at Camp Shelby. Then the first public library building was dedicated on Main Street Hattiesburg in May 1930. The current building was opened in March 1996 and is located at 329 Hardy Street. The library features tributes to the state in the Mississippi Tower, Mississippi Room, Genealogy and Observation Level and the Author’s Walk honoring great Mississippi authors. The centerpiece is The Spirit that Builds, a 10-foot-high, 167-foot-around mural which hangs 30 feet above the circulation desk. It shows Hattiesburg history in an artistic view painted by University of Southern Mississippi art professor, William Baggett.( Greiner, 2004, pp. 175-178 ) The library offers: 1) a large selection of fiction, non-fiction, reference, and children's materials; 2) a growing collection of MP3/Play-A-Way and books on CD; 3) DVDs & VHS tapes for circulation; 4) two computer labs for public use; 5) several specialized book clubs and story times; 6) a beautiful and welcoming building and ample seating; 7) Wi-Fi connections throughout the library, including the ever-popular Reading Room; 8) study rooms available for patron use for study sessions or meetings; 9) gallery space for rotating collections and exhibits; and 1...
Community is like a Venn diagram. It is all about relations between a finite group of people or things. People have their own circles and, sometimes, these circles overlap one another. These interceptions are interests, common attitudes and goals that we share together. These interceptions bond us together as a community, as a Venn diagram. A good community needs good communication where people speak and listen to each other openly and honestly. It needs ti...
I would inform them so that they could assist me and my mission and also so that they could provide me with possible solutions. I would also call the bank and set up an account just for scholarship awards. I would send my team to contact Re/max to scout for buildings with farmland nearby so that we could start working on the first neighborhood center before building the rest of them. Re/Max has been around for over 40 years and is “is a leader in the commercial and investment arenas”. Although it would cost more, I would get it furnished by local small independent businesses. The centers would focus on making the people independent and teaching core values and ethics to make them a more productive part of society. They could grow and tend to the land and feed themselves and the neighborhood. I would get homedepot to help with the gardening supplies, fruit and vegetable seeds, and sheds for the supplies. I would also reach out to Big Brothers and Big Sisters so that neighborhood kids could have good role models to look up to. It is an organization that “helps children realize their potential and build their futures….nurture children and strengthen communities.” I would have to recruit teachers to help at the facility as well. Whether it be art, music, dance, home
We can team up with some teens and hand out flyers that will educate the community.
The plan covers New York City, Long Island, the lower Hudson Valley, and coastal Connecticut. Its aim is to create more jobs and mixed-income housing in specific downtown locations and low-income neighborhoods served by the MTA Metro-North Railroad and the MTA Long Island Rail Road. I believe Binghamton should draw inspiration from NY-CT Sustainable Communities Consortium because of its vision to create a network of downtowns and neighborhoods. Binghamton should incorporate parts of this plan because of the need to further develop our downtown area.
In cities like Philadelphia, there are organizations such as the Registered Community Organization (RCO) that deal with how people of the community want to shape its development. However, these organization aren’t able to reach the entire community which sometimes stagnates progress. Regardless, giving residents the knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes of their community can help development help everyone and influence developers. Lastly, city government needs to protect its residents and keep the culture already established but bringing in others to that culture and helping the understand what makes that special. A community that sticks together and forms plans together can

Community engagement is very important to strengthen the relationship between the individuals within the community. This motivate and empower people to take part in community activities which likely benefits the members to learn new skills and help them increase feeling of helpfulness and responsibility. In addition, reflecting on their practices is very significant as individuals benefits from community engagement, it is vital for each member to reflect on what they learn and perhaps share the knowledge with other community members. When we face problem, we approach it as a community and solve it in creative way
A Community can be defined as a group of people who don’t just live in the same area, but also share the same interests, experiences and often concerns about the area in which they live. Often when individuals have lived on a street or in an area for a while they become familiar with each other and the issues surrounding them. Children often attend the same schools and grow up together, again sharing similar experiences. In some instances adults may work together, and quite commonly all community members will share the same doctors, dentists, hospitals, health visitors and other public services and facilities.
The general basis in whole for this community is to desensitize and for the people to govern themselves and their own ways of life (“Broadacre City: A New Community
We have an abundance of historic buildings, and an attractive and accessible waterfront that is underused. It also feels like the powers to be just want the town to stay the same. The more a community comes to look just like every other small town the less reason there is for anyone to visit. All we need is to implement a small number of new ideas in Carleton Place. They could make a big difference in this community.
This course could serve as a platform to showcase my intellect, experience and ability to implement new ideas. Sustainable, livable, and urban design could be made possible with the right amount of effort, support and work ethic. I
Community engagement will be made through a variety of different formats to ensure that each social, religious, sex and age group is engaged in the process. Traditional methods of engagement such as leaflets and mind mapping sessions will feature as part of this process where residents and local business can suggest new ideas and give us feedback on the neighbourhood plans findings. Information boards will be erected along the main route in Rusholme to inform passers-by as well as residents in order to engage the widest possible audience that has a relationship with the area. Finally, social media will play a crucial role in informing residents on sites such as Twitter and Facebook where it can access Rusholme community groups, Greater Manchester special interest groups and create an early online presence for the Rusholme Neighbourhood Plan.
