Having a balanced nutrition is a necessity to live a life full of an efficient diet. Watching your diet leads to good health and a lack of disease. This was demonstrated through the experiment of tracking your everyday diet. This was recorded through the use of the SuperTracker program that analyzed the nutrients/minerals and the food groups of the foods I consumed from a 5-day food log. Observing my diet changed my perspective on what I eat, how much I eat, and how the foods I eat effect my body.
The project involves keeping a 5-day food log which includes at least 2 weekend days. This involves recording all foods and beverages consumed in this period of time to add for every meal and snack. This information is used for the SuperTracker program to determine the nutrient content from the foods that were consumed throughout this period. Another strength of mine is trying to portion what I eat by not eating large amounts of food and stuffing myself. My weaknesses tend to be not getting enough micronutrients in my diet. This is something I need to continue to work on. Regardless of my health I still want to try and incorporate more nutrients into my diet to be even healthier. With the strengths I may have, I always believe I could be healthier and more fit and want to strive each day to be better. The changes that were easy for me to make was to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into my diet. When I eat a meal such as pasta, I try and add as many vegetables I can into my pasta I wouldn’t normally get such as zucchini and spinach. It was hard to cut out processed foods, but I did this as well the best I could. It makes it hard for me to have a good nutrition at times due to I am so busy with working and school I eat what is most accessible.
