4-H is the Washington State Extension Youth Program that gets kids involved in either animals, technology, cooking, sewing, photography, etc. Each of these groups have clubs within them. I am a part of the Washington State 4-H Dog Program. I am specifically President of the “D.O.G.S” dog club. We base our club off one mantra; head (managing and thinking), heart (relating and caring), hands (giving and working), and lastly health (being and living). 4-H encourages kids to do public presentations in front of judges, which teaches children how to speak with a confident voice. Also, 4-H holds “oral reasons” which is an event that teaches kids how to hold an opinion on something and explain their reasons for that opinion. But, the point is that
Some medical professionals do not believe that mental health patients can benefit from therapy dogs and go as far as saying it is a risk far as to say that it is a to the patient and compromise the patients ability to take care of the dog. When people who suffer with mental health issues qualify to get a therapy dog. The mental health patient is tested to see if they are capable of taking care of the dog. Those in need of assistance should use therapy dogs frequently do to the part of the benefits to using these pets to improve mental and emotional health as and physical health. Therapy dogs are beneficial to people who suffer from mental health issues by providing companionship as well as support. Some people with mental health issues have a hard time trusting others and need someone to talk to; Service dogs are important because to make they people with mental health problems feel better and help people with these disorders deal with their emotions.
People of different ages, young and old, will love having a dog or a pup around. They even treat them as their best friend. Nevertheless, you must also think of the possible consequences that come with owning one. Effective Dog Training is necessary for your dog and you should understand you have to make an effort to socialize your dog. You have to expose your dog to the outside world, so that it will not intimidate other people.
...s mission not for every kids but for many kids. Clubs seek to help kids marginalized and cast to the side and is very effective doing this. I probably will go back when I’m not in college and volunteer. Classism is going to continue as the gap between social classes continues to widen however clubs and organizations can help kids to rise and achieve what they otherwise might not have been able to achieve otherwise. Positivity can go a long way.
This can be extrapolated to a community service as a recreational activity, where people have to interact and that way the life of a city becomes more outgoing. A dog park can be a good experience for dogs because they can feel the relaxing place where they do not have to use a leash, so they are free to move wherever they feel like inside the park. This situation can be helpful to the people, since they are free of worries of their dogs because a big, closed pet-friendly place would give them the confidence that there are no hazards, like vehicles, or any damage to the dog. Also, a dog park in the city would help to create friendship and an identity of community since dog owners do not have to go to other cities to enjoy these kind of parks. Instead, they can be part of an identity and recognize themselves in their own city.
Belonging: 4-H members are awarded for their participation in activities, earning symbols of belonging as they continue in 4-H (e.g. ribbons, achievement pins).
Without a doubt the most meaningful activity I have ever been involved in is 4-H. I have been a member of the Cheerful Champs 4-H club for almost ten years. When you join a 4-H club the members and leaders become your friends and family. 4-H’s mission is to provide a positive environment for kids to grow and succeed through. With such an environment 4-H hopes to give kids confidence and empower them to do whatever they hope to achieve. Empowerment turns kids into leaders and teachers. After being in 4-H so long you learn how to lead and teach the younger members of the club and others in the community. Through 4-H I have gained a family and many qualities that I will cherish for life.
Training your dog is the most important part of canine companionship. A happy dog is one who has structure and boundaries. Dogs are pack animals, and as such, they need guidance in the behavior that you expect from them. If you don't follow through in this leadership role, then the dog will naturally feel as if it is his place to do so. A dog that understands that you are the leader will naturally be easier to train.
Holistic dog treatment needs to be understood as for what it represents. A holistic veterinarian seeks to promote the animals' natural healing capabilities from within as well as through harnessing the energies from the body. They use the least toxic, least invasive and most nurturing path to healing. Holistic medicine is defined as any system that diagnoses and treats a disease in the context of the whole patient.
By nurturing a deeper understanding of the world and our natural environment, the 4-H Program empowers young people to be more successful in school and to build a life characterized by positive relationships and experiences, as research has shown and as 4-H’s members gladly attest. The 4-H Club offers an abundant range of options, whether you are intrigued by working with domestic animals, studying science and technology, exploring nature, or learning practical life skills. Whether young or old, a winning opportunity awaits everyone who gets involved in the 4-H Program.
Setting up Clubs in an early childhood classroom may seem like a challenging task for some, however I feel on the contrary. I believe early childhood teachers have an advantage to
For hundreds of years it has been recognized that not all learning takes place in the classroom. Students mental and social development also occurs outside the classroom in athletics, music, and clubs. No matter what club the student is involved in, he/she fosters organizational, interpersonal, communication, planning, critical thinking, financing, and evaluation skills. A club gives students the opportunity to combine components of their mental and social development into personal action. These students have opportunities to test their skills and talents in different situations. Students will always work together to set goals, develop action plans for achieving those goals and implement those plans. Doing so, students could develop and maintain working relationships and friendships. The soul of a club is the students, but it also consists of many things that happen behind the scenes.
A study titled, “A Qualitative Outcome Study of Boys and Girls Club Program Leaders, Club Members, and Parents” aims to identify this relationship. This study differs from the others because it offers a wide range of participants like staff, leaders, adolescents and parents. The researchers collected data by observing the program and it’s facilities as well as conducting interviews with parents and leaders. The results of this research show that even though the staff was suppose to plan activities that centered around self-development, most of the time the purpose of the activity strayed and took on a very general and casual approach. However, this did not fully hinder the benefits that participants received.
In the Tuff University’s longevity research study about the power of 4-H positive youth development indicate three characteristics—positive and sustained relationships between
Most schools offer a variety of activities, classes and clubs, my school offers a club called the Nerd Herd club. The Nerd Herd club is a club for people who like nerdy things. Like Anime, video games, Board games, and more. The club is easy to join and is available to join all year long. The Nerd Herd club is one of the clubs at the school.
Instead of learning about volunteering from an indoor setting, I was able to first-hand experience volunteerism. I truly enjoyed being able to help my community while also earning credits by doing so. It was a win-win! If I had the opportunity, I would definitely take a class similar to this one. I will be transferring to the University of Kentucky and I am hoping that they will have some clubs/organizations that specialize in volunteering so that I can continue to help with the community. You will encounter some rough patches while volunteering, but that should never discourage you from continuing on. I know that at first while volunteering at MCHS, it was pretty strenuous. I hadn’t worked with any other animals other than my own and I had never volunteered at an animal shelter before, but everything ended up working out. I learned so much more about working with animals, gained people skills while working with other volunteers/adopters, and became more aware of my community’s needs. I will continue to volunteer and encourage others to do the
