The 4-H Club is an international program that offers children more understanding of the world and nature around them by building academic competence, personal confidence, and a lifetime based on successful experiences, as shown by research and personal anecdotes. Using the philosophy of “Learning by Doing”, the 4-H Program is based on a “do, reflect, apply” method, because young people thrive academically when they are actively involved in the learning process. Researchers observed that young people who participated in the 4-H program demonstrated greater success in academics than their peers. Furthermore, the 4-H Club has proven to be an enriching accomplishment for people of all ages who enjoy family and community activities.
In 1902, A.B. Graham initiated a youth program to introduce new agricultural technology to the adults in the farming community, who did not easily accept new ideas. This was the origin of the 4-H Club, which was symbolized by a four-leaf clover, each leaf representing one of its four goals for the development of youth: Head, Heart, Hands, and Health. The 4-H pledge explains what each of these goals mean: “I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service, and my health to better living, for my club, my community, my country, and my world.” Today, the 4-H Club has become an international network, with youth programs in every county of every state in the U.S., in all American territories and Army and Air Force installations worldwide, and in more than 80 other countries.

...teen-year-old Ellen Hevenor, whose family has entered lambs in state competitions for generations, stated, “It’s challenging and fun.” In addition, 4-H sponsors a program called Health Rocks!®, which encourages families and communities to work together to reduce tobacco, alcohol and drug use.
By nurturing a deeper understanding of the world and our natural environment, the 4-H Program empowers young people to be more successful in school and to build a life characterized by positive relationships and experiences, as research has shown and as 4-H’s members gladly attest. The 4-H Club offers an abundant range of options, whether you are intrigued by working with domestic animals, studying science and technology, exploring nature, or learning practical life skills. Whether young or old, a winning opportunity awaits everyone who gets involved in the 4-H Program.
Arthur L. Caplan, in his news article, “Distinguishing Science from Nonsense,” warns the audience about the uncertain economic future of the United States of America due to the abandonment of science within society. Further, Caplan’s purpose is to inform the audience how the dwindling importance of science in children is not only due to schools, but also due to American culture. Therefore, Caplan uses a combination of rhetorical devices to not only warn and inform the public about the importance of science, but to also engage them to an extent that persuades the audience to take action.
A nobel prize winning, architect of the atomic bomb, and well-known theoretical physicist, Professor Richard P. Feynman, at the 1955 autumn meeting of the National Academy of science, addresses the importance of science and its impact on society. Feynman contends, although some people may think that scientists don't take social problems into their consideration, every now and then they think about them. However he concedes that, because social problems are more difficult than the scientific ones, scientist don’t spend too much time resolving them (1). Furthermore he states that scientist must be held responsible for the decisions they make today to protect the future generation; also they have to do their best, to learn as much as possible,
I began by tutoring at the Boys and Girls Club (BGC) and eventually became a teacher at the boys and girls club. The focus of my continued volunteer work was to enrich the children’s after school experience whether they needed help with homework or busy work. During my volunteer work the issue that stuck out in my mid continuously was social class or classism. The BGC emphasizes many different issues and points such as “creating aspirations for the future,” “Helping youth become responsible, caring citizens and acquire skills for participating in the democratic process is the main thrust of these programs and also to develop leadership skills and provide opportunities for planning, decision-making.” BGC encourages kids to engage in healthy and positive behavior as well as to help the youth build and discover creativity in the arts “Club programs help develop fitness, a positive use of leisure time, reduction of stress, appreciation for the environment and social and interpersonal skills.” (bgca.org)

Myths regarding the improper socialization of homeschoolers are as ever-present in modern society as they are false. Studies show that home-educated students are not only equal to publicly educated students when it comes to social skills, but are actually superior to their public schooled peers. While this may seem counter-intuitive, as public schooled students spend most days surrounded by dozens, or even hundreds, of other students, some suggest this is the very reason home-educated students hold the advantage in social fields. While public school students are segregated entirely based on grade, home school students interact with individuals of all ages, through partaking in various athletic activities with teams in their area, taking classes at co-op home-school centers, auditing classes at local colleges, and interacting with other social groups in their area. A study by the Seattle-based Discovery Institute in July of 2000, in which counselors were shown videotapes of homeschooled and public schooled children playing, supports the theory that homeschoolers possess superior social skills to public schoolers. Without knowing which children were from each category, the counselors noted that the homeschool students

Health 391 course- Principles of Community Health focused on principals of community health and my class of about twenty junior level students was in charge of planning, facilitating, and evaluating a health fair. We separated into different committees and each committee had specific responsibilities. My committee was in charge of the making the flyers and getting things together. Within my committee, we called community members, created and disseminated surveys, and used previous data on the community to identify community needs for health promotion and disease prevention. We researched the community to better understand the demographic details and what resources were available in the communi...
There are many ways to teach children in the world. Some children are learning at the school and others are learning at home. Homeschooling is one of the most common ways to teach children. Because of, technologies, the numbers of home schooling are increasing. Nowadays, many parents teach their children at home because they are able to use the Internet and read about anything they want. Moreover, homeschooling has different ways to teach children; it depends on the parents and the methods they teach. Some of the parents take courses to improve their knowledge about how they can educate their children and teach them new things. Some of the children like to study in a group, so parents communicate with other friend’s parents and decided to go on a trip with each other and study. Although many parents think that home schooling is beneficial for their children, students should not be homeschooled for several reasons: it is dangerous for children’s health, children will have limited education, and it does not have much quality.

These negative effects include cuts in funding for art programs and sports that have little popularity. The reason this is important is due to a students ' ability to create a social structure outside the classroom. Going through high school, counselors always say to participate in school, both in the classroom and out as it will help with the students ' grade. But due to these program cuts, students ' have fewer choices in after-school programs which correlate back to their grade. The reason for this is closely related to why many people exercise to relieve stress. An archive from John Holloway states that when a student does participate more outside of school, their grade point average goes up. Holloway gathered research from other sources stating, "adolescents who participated in structured activities supervised by positive adult role models were more likely to make personal investments in their schooling that might, in turn, motivate them to excel academically" (Holloway par. 9). It gives the students a reason to get up and go
Right now science education plays a very significant role in the improvement of the medicinal field. Hundreds of thousands of educated doctors in the US are helping patients with anything from the flu to cancer. It is not just doctors though: science education is enlightening kids to be researchers, scientists, and more. If science was not taught, this world would be full of unanswered questions and wrong answers. Science is so amazing that if we didn’t pass down this knowledge of what we have gained, all our hard work would be for noth...

All of these things have some type of subject in them such as science, history, math and English. Every action tells a story. This is meaning that there is a story behind all of this. If people would give these a chance and try new thing they might actually enjoy doing them. I can help you with your social life. The community comes together to do these curriculum activities. Some school may not have these activities in their school, but I think it would be fun to have them.
