The Medical Psychology department mainly focuses on the mental well-being of patients. Health care professionals within this department will use medications, talk therapy, recreational therapy, muscle relaxation and behavior modification as forms of treatment. A hospital that contains a Social Services department, will mainly help aid their patients with referrals leading to seek assistance for things such as: housing, mental, medical and financial services. The Pharmacy department sole role within the hospital is dispense any medications as directed by the physician, they are to provide information to every patient about the drug and the proper way to take them. For an example, the hospital utilizes electronic medical records to increase patient services. Using electronic medical records makes it a lot less difficult for our patients to gain access to their own information without having to request on a needed basis. It is also great for patients because all their information is located in one place making it more accessible which is attractive to our patients (Makoul, Curry, & Tang, 2001).
