Generally, strategic management is a set of managerial decisions and actions that determines the long-term performance of a company, involving both internal and external environmental scanning, strategy formulation, strategy implementation, and evaluation and control. According to the study of strategic management, the corporation should concentrate on monitoring and appraising outside opportunities and threats based on an organization’s strengths and weaknesses (Thomas Wheelen and David Hunger, 2012).
According to Wheelen & Hunger, strategic management “is that set of managerial decisions and actions that determines the long-run performance of a corporation. It includes environmental scanning (both external and internal), strategy formulation (strategic or long-range planning), strategy implementation, and evaluation and control” (2004, p2). All eleven good to great companies are benefit from strategic management and gain long term strategic advantage then lead to outperforming compared companies.
Strategic management is the ongoing process of ensuring a competitively superior fit between the organization and its ever-changing environment (Kreitner, G13). Strategic management serves as the competitive edge for the entire management process. It effectively blends strategic planning, implementation, and control. Organizations that are guided by a coherent strategic framework tend to execute even the smallest details of their mission in a coordinated fashion. The strategic management process includes the formulation of a strategy/strategic plans, implementation of the strategy, and strategic control. A clear statement of the organizational mission serves as the focal point for the entire planning process. People inside and outside the organization are given a general idea of why the organization exists and where it is headed. Working from the mission statement, management formulates the organization's strategy, a general explanation of how the organization's mission is to be accomplished. Then general intentions are translated into more concrete and measurable plans, policies, and budget allocations. Implementation is the most important part of the strategy. Strategic plans must be filtered down to lower levels to be success. Strategic plans can go astray, but a formal control system helps keep strategic plans on track. In the strategic management process general managers who adopt a strategic management perspective appreciate that strategic plans require updating and fine-tuning as conditions change. Given today's competitive pressures, management cannot afford to let strategic plans sit as is. A strategic orientation encourages farsightedness. Sun Microsystems Inc. is one company that developed a strategy to become the competitive leader and become the most reliable in the net business. First I'll discuss who Sun is and what encouraged them to develop their strategy.

Organization a good management system needs to be organized, and ready to go. If you as the manager want to run a successful team, you need to be organized. If you as a manager expect your team to be organized, then you as the manager need to lead by example. Organization to me is what falls next to planning. If you are organized, that means you have planned well. People expect managers to be organized, and know their plan of attack, and know what they are talking about when in meeting, seminars, and etc I believe that organization is a major part of being in management, if you are not organized; you can not plan, lead, or control.
In the business world today, the professional workplace requests more work from fewer employees. With the goal of the company to remain on top of things, they have to utilize the correct leaders and the best managers. The initiative style of those in control impacts the viability of the employees working under them. However; leaders and managers are an indivisible unit. This paper will cover the major four functions dealing with the principles of management. Which are: “Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling,” and what each of these functions involves. I have learned that it is very important that a manager understands each one of these managerial components which allows one the power to navigate through numerous procedural, interpersonal, and structural challenges in the process of guiding one 's team to the completion of goals that have been set forth for them. Therefore, “planning, organizing, leading and controlling,” demand that managers become good decision makers.
It has become evident in the modern society that most of the successful companies put a generous amount of effort into developing their strategies. Strategic management helps an entity to clearly identify its goals and objectives and achieve them quickly and efficiently. However, it is still argued that the strategy is not an essential component of organizational management, and it is not necessary to invest in strategic development. This essay critically analyses the question of whether it is essential to have strategy as a management component, gives the definition of a strategy in a managerial context and briefly outlines possible problems of modern strategic development.
The rapid progression and improvement in information and communication technology has led to modern organisation finding new ways to work. One of these innovation ways is using work group. More organisations are now becoming global than ever, which means they rely on distributed teams to carry out certain tasks (Nedelko, Z, 2007). Although now a days most jobs require a degree of individual and group work and it is left to the management to identify which method might be appropriate for the task (Belbin, M, 2007). In this essay I will be looking at how organisation can use work group to their advantage, and the different factors that can affect a work group’s performance. In addition, I will also be discussing when is it appropriate to use work group and individual, and discus whether an organisation can reply solely on work group to be for it to be successful.
Strategic management helps organizations to complete the major goal or task with providing the suitable formulation and implementation for all organizations, and also considers the internal and external environments where the organizations compete. However, alternative ap¬proaches have been introduced to strategic management because the existing linear model does not work successfully (Dunning,2015).
What I benefit from this course strategy management class is knowing. The strategic management is consisting of the analysis, decisions, and actions an organization undertakes to create and sustain competitive advantages. strategic management analyses. concern with overall objectives, involves multiple stakeholders, incorporates short and long term perspectives, recognizes tradeoffs between effectiveness and efficiency. The essence of management in the organization is to bring to or more people to work together with one goal and that is making the organization successful, and that is why it is regarded as the organization of activities and people in a company so as to reach defined objectives. But, for all these to be accomplished, directors and managers of these organizations usually play a vital role in the decision-making process that in turn helps in achieving a good management (Cardy, 2008). Management - is one of the areas of modern economics, aimed at the creation, planning and implementation of development plan for businesses, organizations, and firms in order to maximize the potential profit of the company, creating a sustainable enterprise management system (Drucker, 1993). Management helps companies to achieve a certain goal step-by-step.
