It was a challenging task to write about only three concepts that I learned in this informative class. The concepts that stood out to me were Learning Style Inventory, preparation and delivery. I believe these concepts are critical aspects to a person’s success in the business world.
One of the concepts that I found to be very interesting was “The Learning Style Inventory.” “The Learning Style Inventory (LSI) describes the ways you learn and how you deal with ideas in day-to-day situations.” (Hay/McBer Training Resource Group, 1999, p. 2). The LSI is based on a test. The test contains twelve questions dealing with problem solving, working with others, dealing with adversity, career decisions, and the effect of relationships on individuals. Each question has four optional answers. The answers range from one to four. Answering a question with a one is least like your style. Answer with a four is most like your decision making style.
When I began the test, I read all the questions in order, before answering any of them. I then went back to the questions that jumped out at me. I did not answer them from “least like” to “most like.” I answered them from “most like” to “least like.” I tried to answer the questions with how I do things in my everyday life. I did not only reflect upon how I am at work, but also how I am at home with my family. Upon calculating my score and completing my diagram, I began to see how one sided my learning style is.
There are four different learning modes. The first is Concrete Experience (learning from experience). The second is Reflective Observation (thinking before doing). The third is Abstract Conceptualization (analyzing information and forming a plan based on that information). The fourth is Active Experimentation (learning by doing).
My score lead me to draw my diagram indicating that my learning style inventory is heavily dependant on concrete experience and active experimentation. I found the theory behind the test to be accurate. I believe that concepts and theories are not learned from books but from experience. A theory is only that; a theory until you have tested the theory and proven it to true or false.

...st sit there silently. We had a rule “he who talked first lost.” The idea was to allow the customer to react to what you just said, and directly act on their reaction. If the customer was surprised, I acted surprised. If they were mad, I remained calm. If they immediately said no, I acted confused. If they agreed I smiled and congratulated them. I practiced my delivery at home and with my co-workers, until it was perfect.
By practicing my delivery over and over again I sounded sincere. When I presented numbers, my deliveries and reactions were flawless, every time.
In conclusion, you must agree that preparation and delivery are key concepts to successful business practices. I believe the LSI is the most important concept. Everyone can apply this learning concept to their lives. And if they are honest with themselves they can improve.

Dr. Jekyll was acclaimed as a man of great intelligence and wisdom, but something inside him was seething. Jekyll was expected by his peers to maintain a reputable manner, but he had another side in which he hides from the public eye. When Jekyll was a young man, he had a darker side, but with age and knowledge he quickly refrained from his old ways. He knew he had to conceal his pleasures if he wanted to be taken earnestly, but this was a grueling task to obtain. Jekyll states, “I found it hard to reconcile with my imperious desire to carry my head high and wear a more than commonly grave countenance before the public” (123). This behavior could be compared to the Victorian era. Society was broken into two parts, there was no in between. People were either well- respected or had no value. Jekyll couldn’t go out and perform the indulgences he wished to partake in. His acts would disgrace him in the public eye, therefore causing Jekyll to refrain from certain activities.
When Westerners such as ourselves and people native to Europe are asked what they know of the Mongols the answer is usually ruthless barbarians intent upon world domination. After all these years you would expect that the educational points presented to the different generations in school would have given a different view of the Mongol civilization. Leaving this vision instilled upon generation after generation is detrimental to learning the different positive aspects left behind by such a powerful empire. The nomadic lifestyle that the Mongols endured empowered them to become hardy warriors. The Mongols began their conquests in response to Ghengis Khans personal missions as well as a disruption in trade and the ecology of the land upon which they inhabited.
In Plato’s, “The Allegory of the Cave” he is telling a story about Socrates and a conversation with Glaucon, Plato’s brother. In this story Socrates tells Glaucon of a cave, “Behold! Human beings living in an underground den, which has a mouth open towards the light and reaching all along the den; here they have been from their childhood, and have their legs and necks chained so that they cannot move, and can only see before them, being prevented by the chains from turning round their heads” (Plato). The purpose of the cave which Socrates describes is to show that we as human beings are blind. We don’t expand our knowledge or test our beliefs. We sit with chains around our legs and necks and don’t try to test our boundaries. We are all
David Kolb published his learning styles theory, in 1984, after many years of development. His theory stated that people learn in two different steps, inputting information and processing information. How people do this is also different. Think of inputting information on a vertical line, one person may prefer concrete examples at the top and abstract concepts at the bottom. Processing information is on a horizontal line with active experimentation on the left and reflective observation on the right.

Robert Louis Stevenson’s Gothic 1886 novella The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde can be read in a number of ways through any number of different lenses, which makes for a versatile novella, and an interesting read for just about anyone. It also makes for a great novel with which to learn literary analysis. Using The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde one can see how Freudian psychoanalysis, though it had not been so developed at the time of the novel can intersect with homosexual undertones, and how the manifestations of the repressed can come to light when the subject of homosexuality is not properly addressed.

The Smart Measure test shows that that I have a logical learning style. I learn better using pie charts, and just flat out fact. When numbers and figures get put out there it draws my attention straight to it. Shockingly, I did scores three way for Physical, Social, and Verbal learning. They ere all very close o my score in logical learning. Basically, I am capable of learning in all sorts of different ways. Wehn it comes to learning I like to use a variety of techniques to ensure that I have obtained the the material that was necessary.

The tools that I used in this assessment is the R. Craig Hogan and David W. Champagne for assessing the personal style inventory, Honey and Mumford’s learning style questionnaire for assessing the learning style I preferred, and finally R. M. Belbin’s team roles questionnaire for assessing the roles that I usually adopt in my social and everyday life.
“A learning style is a way of learning and refers to the way that you learn new information” (2). Most people have one preferred learning style and perform to a lesser standard when learning in a different style than what they’re used to. Nowadays, children are told to take a quiz in school to determine what their preferred learning style is, but after a few years, not many of these children remember what their preferred learning style is, or even if they do, they don’t apply it to their learning.
Thought out our lives, we are faced with many different learning experiences. Some of these experiences have made a better impact than others. This can be attributed to everyone’s different multiple intelligences or learning styles. A persons learning style is the method though which they gain information about their environment. As a teacher, it is our responsibility to know these styles, so we can reach each of our students and use all of the necessary methods.
