Function of Position Responsible to the University President for the overall administration and management of the university intercollegiate athletics program; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions Submits recommendations and supporting documentation to the President, Athletic Advisory Committee, and Tennessee Board of Regents as necessary to make decisions regarding goals, academics, capital expansion, staffing, budget appropriations, and other aspects of intercollegiate athletics; implements and communicates directives, including maintenance and control. Accepts public speaking engagements to promulgate department philosophies and objectives. Coordinates and supervises men=s basketball, golf, baseball, men=s and women=s tennis programs working directly with the Head Coach; supervises the administration of all other varsity programs through the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations. Oversees all internal financial and administrative operations through the Manager of Athletic Business and Ticket Operations; promulgates budget guidelines and approves final submission for each area; monitors conformance to established budget. Develops long term plans to determine need for and feasibility of constructing or upgrading athletic facilities. Coordinates scheduling for sports events involving conference participation of revenue contracts. Negotiates and administers contracts concerning radio and television (network and cable) coverage of athletic events; serves as the university=s primary public relations liaison for intercollegiate sports. Represents the department on a conference and national level; serves as an ex officio member of the Athletics Advisory Committee; ensures that coaching and administrative staff actively support the department and university=s joint commitment to academic achievement, which entails helping each student athlete make normal progress in completing his/her degree and to graduate within a five year period; serves on university and other committees that involve intercollegiate athletics. Supervises fund development through the Executive Director for Athletic Advancement; may personally secure gifts or establish endowment funds by cultivating the interest of corporations, individuals, foundations, or associations.

A transplanted kidney can last a person their whole lifetime yet in the greatest country of the world, the government bans the selling of organs. This leads to thousands of citizens desperate to find a cure for themselves or a loved one. A solution to reduce our supply and demand gap would be to pay our donors. By paying our donors, this would increase the supply of kidneys tremendously. People living in extreme poverty are willing to put so much on the line for money. People in third world countries are accepting as little as $1,000 for a kidney just so they can supply their family with some food and necessities. This black market of organ trading needs to be stopped but we should not ask a patient to accept death easily. If organ sales did become legalized it would need to be highly regulated. Some people in less fortunate countries are only left to sell their organs on the black market. Why not build a regulated system that compensates people fairly and provides them with safety? As unpleasant as it seems to commodify organs, the current situation is simply too tragic not to change something. During the 1920's and 30’s, America went through a period of astonishing artistic creativity, the majority of which was concentrated in one neighborhood of New York City, Harlem. The creators of this period of growth in the arts were African-American writers and other artists. Langston Hughes is considered to be one of the most influential writers of the period know as the Harlem Renaissance. With the use of blues and jazz Hughes managed to express a range of different themes all revolving around the Negro. He played a major role in the Harlem Renaissance, helping to create and express black culture. He also wrote of political views and ideas, racial inequality and his opinion on religion. I believe that Langston Hughes’ poetry helps to capture the era know as the Harlem Renaissance.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) consists of individuals with skills in athletics like the students, athletic personnel, the faculty student groups, researchers and other stakeholders. The NCAA has various divisions with various students and athletes with different levels of capabilities. The divisions have special considerations for the students in order to enhance the students’ performance on athletic activities. The NCAA divisions include the Division 1, Division and Division 3. In most cases, the D1 has the prominent collegiate athletic skills and powers. Division 1 has robust budgets that cater for the athletic students’ needs. The division also has sophisticated facilities that are large and efficient in ensuring training of the athletic students. The division also has scholarship programs for the athletes and offer better services as compared to the other divisions in the athletic associations (Bracken & National Collegiate Athletic, 2009).

In this role, I oversee the entire program from fourth through twelfth grade. I develop the master plan for our program that includes player academic progress, position fundamentals, scheme, player development, coach education programs, practice plans, and game planning. In addition, I manage a staff of eight high school, four middle school, and six youth coaches. I do all of the budgeting for program, as well as lead our football booster club in fundraising and support for our whole program. There are many parts to our program that I use the support of my assistants and our athletic director to help facilitate. Finally, I am the spokesperson for the program with our area newspaper and radio station.
