In the book “You’re More Powerful Than You Think: A Citizen’s Guide to Making Change Happen,” Eric Liu, an advisor to President Bill Clinton says, power “is the capacity to ensure that others do as you would want them to do. If that sounds menacing or distasteful, or makes you feel squeamish, I understand. And I invite you to get over it” (Jaffe, 2017). This explains, candidly, what power is all about. It’s something a lot of people want, while a lot of people get uncomfortable towards people who has it.

For example, Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 to 1829) was a great military leader. He was admired by his country men. On a personal level, one need to keep track of the changes that occur to oneself while gaining power. This can be done through development of self-awareness and reflection. Allowing others to check on oneself could be done through listening and being empathetic towards others.
