Prom Committee Personally, I would absolutely adore the oppurtunity to be a member of the prom committee for the 2016 year 11 prom for a variety of reasons. Firstly, I have an extremely creative streak and would relish in the chance to plan and think of new and unique ideas whilst working with and building off of the ideas of others to create a phenomenal finalised piece. Additionally, I don’t enjoy being a bystander and I dislike the idea of spectating when I could be participating and in general I strive to ivolve myself in as many opportunities that present themselves as possible and for this reason I am interested in doing more than simply attending the event but instead hope to play a major role in planning the event. From this I know that the sense of achievement and satisfaction for planning such a wonderful event would be immensly fulfilling and it would be a fond memory …show more content…
Furthermore, I like to be involved in descision making to voice not only my own ideas but the ideas of my fellow students as I recognise that each individual has their own idea of how they would like their prom to be and it’s about discovering the perfect balance so that everyone enjoys the celebration just as much as the next person. I am very fond of the idea that we are all looking toward one shared goal of a successful and enjoyable prom and by being a part of the committee it allows you the incredible opportunity to be a part of creating a night that you as well as all your fellow classmates will remember for the rest of your lives. Finally, I think that I would have an immense amount of fun planning the prom alongside the hardwork that goes with it and from the experience I would hope to take away new skills that perhaps I didn’t have before as I think being a member of the committee would be a leraning experience in istelf as I would learn to work with a diverse group of people and widen my perspective as I would work alongside people I would’ve otherwise not have
Overall, I was grateful for this experience. I was able to find out more about the behind the scenes responsibilities of our schools’ leadership.
Everyone took their roles very serious, which was the fun part to me. When doing a project like this you want everyone being as serious as possible and playing their role as it should be. Logan Diehl (mayor) really set the stimulation when he stepped up to the podium in his suit to give an overview of the meeting and call the meeting to order. Another aspect of the stimulation I enjoyed and thought it brought realistic vibes was when the city council representatives which included myself introduced themselves and stated what ward they represented before asking their
I visited the Ronald McDonald House on September 15, to meet a family that was staying there because they had a very ill child. I was there to interview Mr. and Mrs. Davis who’s had their five-year-old son, John was at Children’s Mercy Hospital. The Davis family was there because John has leukemia and needed chemotherapy. When I first met John, I was at a loss for words. I saw a five-year-old boy that didn’t have any hair (like me) and was thin like a cable wire. I thought it was great that John got to say with his family on good days. What amazed me so much was his spirit and thrust for life. Because they had faith in their little boy getting better, his parents were very much the same. I asked them what made them so upbeat and positive. They told me that they were getting the best treatment around and being close to him everyday really helped. I didn’t quite understand what they meant and asked them to explain. They told me that staying at the RMH with their son meant everything to the whole family. Instead of being in a hospital bed, or hotel room, the Davis’s kept close and were able to do everything that a family would do. Such things included playing with toys, having meals together, taking walks, enjoying closeness with one’s family, and all in the comfort of a home.
While only a small percentage of the entire workforce was able to participate in the event, its intention was to provide employees with something to strive toward. It was also rejuvenating for those given the opportunity to attend. The event was inspiring and left you with the feeling that you work for a great company and they do care about you; so much so that they are willing to spend a lot of money and provide you with a wonderful experience . The event also focused heavily on the driving force of the company: the students and helping them to improve and change their lives. Employees returned to work feeling inspired and ready to do just that. The event provided the company with an opportunity to invest in their employees, reward them, and make them feel
I will be a dance captain for the schools fall musical. Dance captain is like a job that I was assigned. I have certain expectations that I need to meet and have goals to complete daily. I have been built into the schedule so that I have times when people are working with me while the director is rehearsing other scenes. My duties include writing choreography for the show and also being able to learn every dance number and blocking so I can teach it to all of the cast members and be there for reference when needed.
Despite not being a part of over 20 different organizations, as some claim to be, being a part of a smaller number of groups has allowed me to focus on developing my leadership skills more thoroughly than I could otherwise. Not spreading myself too thin has made me much more committed and involved in the organizations that I am a part of, making my influences so much stronger. I firmly believe that I am trying my absolute best not only in school, but in leaving my comfort zone and being an active member in our community. I am honored that I have been considered for such a prestigious invitation as
“When you make a choice, you change the future”. - Deepak Chopra. If you choose me for yearbook you will be making the right choice, and you will be changing the future. Personally I like our school, and if there is things I enjoy I can put that into yearbook and make it more enjoyable for students! Yearbook is something for students to look back at when school is out, and if more students enjoy it, it will have a better representation which will make it more representable for our school.
.... This gives me motivation to do well in school and take opportunities like this so that one day I'll be able to pay back all he and my mom have done for me. Another reason is this will be fantastic for my future. Being in this would be very good for getting into an illustrious high school and that leads to a great college. Although I am not sure what I will be when I grow up, I know that whatever I am, I will put the things I know now and the things I have yet to towards it and will help the world in someway. The final reason I want to be in this group is for the experience. Being a part of this would make me a part of something prestigious and just the thought of that makes me happy.
This is when I decided to try and become a member of the student council. I was elected and soon loved it. My school is very important to me and I wanted to do my very best to make it the best possible high school experience for not only me, but every student that attends White Bear Lake. I found that was helpful to have many different views on the council, and I think I brought a new view that was not accounted for before. Being a hockey captain my senior year, I was elected to be in Leadership Academy. This group meets and talks about how to most effectively lead our sports teams as well as the school. This is very important to me because as a leader I want to set the best example possible for my peers and this group allows me to improve my leadership skills to make them even better. I value this program very much because I think it will help me to succeed in the future, because these skills are lifelong skills to have. I have also became a math tutor for my classmates. Being a tutor is very important to me because it allows me to share my knowledge and help
In terms of the more logistical responsibilities, such as taking attendance and assisting with layout, I would be successful not only because I have helped Amira with tasks such as determining who should be considered “staff” before, but also because I am very organized, in addition to being good at time management. For one, I rarely miss academic assignment deadlines, although I generally have a fairly heavy course load. Besides homework, I would have plenty of time to devote to editorial tasks - the Odyssey is one of my main extracurricular activities, and I have missed few meetings since I joined the club. I make it a priority to come after school, in particular, and naturally I intend to continue regularly attending
The importance of this topic to me is that this is what I want to do when I get older. I enjoy working with these children and helping them to learn while learning myself. I want to do this project because I want to learn more about children with disabilities and "ordinary" children that then of what I already know. I got involved in this subject last year while I was in Government Class with Mrs. Leach. I was looking to do something for my community service hours but I didn't want something boring to do. Mrs. Leach came up to me and asked me if I would be interested in working at William Grace Elementary in the special needs classroom. I said ok, boy am I happy I said yes. That was a great learning experience for me. My interest in working with children has always been there ever since I was little. My mom always tells me that since I was little I had a way with children. No matter if they were older, younger, or even my same age. My topic fits my personality because I love people. I love talking with, listening to, and helping all different types of people with all different types of situations. I work well with all types of different people too so I am usually found to be very friendly. It connects to my life in many different ways. In one way I work at a daycare where I am running into different types of children with all different types of needs almost everyday. Another situation it runs in with is the fact that I want to be a special needs k-8 teacher when I get older and I also be able to work with "ordinary" second grade kids.
Earlier on I had mentioned that I did not immediately consider myself for this position. One of the items that changed this is learning that the Drum Major is able to march with the band this coming year. I feel that by doing so, I would be viewed as a part of the band, and not just the kid on the podium. This is a very
I have participated in the school’s marching band for four years has a member of the color guard. The last two years I have even earned a leadership position. From being in marching band, I have learned the ability to look for a bigger picture in things. For instance, something that may not seem clear now may take a true shape in time. I have also gained working experience through my two lifeguarding jobs from the last three years. I have learned how “size up” a situation and see how to properly deal with a problem. I have also learned, through both commitments, how to time manage myself and both achieve in activity/work and in school. I believe that through these experiences, I can bring a different perspective to the Honors Program’s community and help better it in any way possible.
Being apart of yearbook could help me grow as a person while having fun. I hope to improve my organization, team skills, as well as improving my writing. Yearbook involves all the
I had big plans for this. I want to be the Junior Class president. Being Junior Class president is a big responsibility due to proms, concessions and other fundraisers, but I wanted the position anyway. I knew I could handle it. My mom gave me a great idea for a theme that I would carry throughout my posters, my speech, and my clothing attire on Election Day.
