“Mom, would you like to play a board game with me? It will be fun!” I asked my mom as I feel the cold and old marbles through my fingers and caress the wooden board with my hand, “No hun, it’s late, maybe next time?” I closely examine the board, trying to find the reason for such quick rejection, the board looks rough and worn out; the 2 parallel rows of neatly carved squares look empty and lonely, the marbles are missing, each box should have 5 marbles, and each side of the board should have a happy and laughing person. “I only have an hour left to get to work,” she added apologetically while trying to send the last text confirming the working hour. But an hour is 60 minutes, which is 3600 seconds, which means you would have to count from 1 to 1800 …show more content…
Statistically speaking, you would have to count past the tenth, the hundreds, the thousand, and triple that, and then, it will be “time’s up”. The marbles feel warm between my fingers now. Did those marbles receive the heat from the warm air, or my boiling hot rising temper? Maybe sometimes things need warmness, like some love, to show that it has not been forgotten. The marbles were begging for that warmness. Maybe if a game of board game is considered too long, how about a half of a game? A half of a half a game? Or a half of a half of a half of a game? Still better than no game to me. I bet the board misses the marbles, after all, the marbles is all the board ever known. They were inseparable ever since they were created. What if one day the marbles had to be used for a Marble game, but the board couldn’t join, would the marble be sadder or the board? She seems to be in a hurry, she shouldn’t be, after all, she has 3200 seconds left, I’m sure she could do way more things than she thinks she could in those 3200 seconds, way more things. If it takes 200 seconds to set up, we still have 3000 seconds left, it will be enough,
Results: The experiments required the starting, ending, and total times of each run number. To keep the units for time similar, seconds were used. An example of how to convert minutes to seconds is: 2 "minutes" x "60 seconds" /"1 minute" ="120" "seconds" (+ number of seconds past the minute mark)
“Anyone can have a child and call themselves a parent. A real parent is someone who puts that child above their own selfish needs and want.” – unknown. “Rules of the Game,” a short story crafted by Amy Tan, depicts a conflict between mother and daughter. The cry for help was not heard. Emily came up with so many excuses to spend some quality time with her mother and they were not acknowledged. “Can’t you go some other time, Mommy, like tomorrow?”(Pg.225) Emily’s mother was young herself and had a rough raising did not know the signs of asking for help.

One day recently, Cynthia Newton 's 12-year-old daughter asked her for help with homework, but Newton didn 't want to help her, because she was too busy on Facebook. So her daughter went upstairs to her room and sent an e-mail asking her for help, but Newton didn 't see the e-mail, because, well, she was too busy on

Audrey’s mom is like my mom. They both are averse to video games. My mom doesn’t like it when I am on my phone for a long time. Audrey’s mom doesn’t like it when Frank is playing video games all day. “How many hours have you played on your computer games this week?”(Kinsella 9) Audrey’s mom is worried about Frank because she read in the Daily Mail that video games are bad. She believes that everything in the Daily Mail is true. She asks Frank to add up all of the hours he has spent on his computer this week. He doesn’t want to because he knows she will get mad. When he tells her, she is so mad she could throw his computer out the window.☺(hyperbole) When my mom asks me to check how many hours I have been on my phone, I get scared too. Audrey is getting better.
“Well dear I must be on my way,”said Mrs. Chipley. “Your aunt should be here within the hour.” Mrs. Chipley, walking to the door turned facing Sally and said, “Open up, don't be afraid to ask questions i'm sure she is expecting them.” ,she said with a smile. After Mrs.Chipley left the house became quiet with the only exception of the rain beating on the windows with a steady rhythm. Sally began to think what questions to ask. “Whens your birthday?, What's your favorite color? How much do you weigh?’’ These and many more questions went through her mind. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Knock! Knock! Knock! There stood a woman with brown hair with blonde highlights and she looked about 5’6 with a sundress as blue as the sky and a vibrant
I woke with a jolt of instant panic. I peered over at my phone to see the time. It hit me suddenly, like a ton of bricks; I was late to pick up my mom. I was supposed to wake up early to take my her to a very important doctor’s appointment. This elusive doctor was impossible to book. My mom had been on the waiting list for a month; we cannot be late! Just like in Junot Diaz’s “The Money”, I foolishly expected my mother to be grateful for my efforts in arriving at her house quickly. Instead, I got “Nada” (Diaz 116).
Marbles have been used throughout history. The Aztecs, Egyptians, Romans and the Greeks all used marbles. Marbles throughout the ages have been made from round stones, clay balls, marble, porcelain, glass and even steel. Marbles got there name from a white alabaster marble that was commonly used to create marbles. In the 1800’s, most marbles were made in Germany. This stayed the same for a century, until marbles began to fall out of style and became unpopular.
There was a note on the counter that read “Hi Ella. I’ll be working late tonight. Here’s fifteen dollars for a pizza. Love, Mom xx”. Ella’s mom usually did this about once a week but this time she left two pennies on top fifteen dollars which was strange to her because she had seen this once before while sitting on a park bench, there lie two pennies. Maybe it was just a coincidence, Ella thought. After finishing her homework, Ella decided to kill time before her mom got home by drawing in her sketchbook. She was not much of an artist but she did not care because she always had the greatest time expressing herself with her unusual art. Right as she opened her sketchbook, she was surprised. Something had fallen out of her book. Two pennies. This was not a coincidence anymore, this was a sign.
There are 365 days in a year, 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, and 60 seconds in each minute. This vital element to life is often looked over and is thought of to just pass as we go along our days. It’s not something that we usually stop for to think about and examine. To humans, time is seen as useless and easily brushed off, but many don’t realize that it is a crucial and necessary concept that affects our everyday life and could easily live without us.
Aggression can be defined as the feelings of anger or antipathy resulting in hostile or violent behaviour. Aggression can be either physical or verbal and can have a huge impact on surrounding individual. When dealing with aggressive people you must assess the situation for its level of risks and always be cautious of your personal safety, the safety of colleagues and other patients. You must ensure that you do not attempt to deal with these situations alone as huge repercussions can occur. This negative behaviour can impact on the resolution of conflict and cause the situation to be dramatised. Within the case study it is evident that the patient becomes aggressive when they are asked to not smoke on hospital grounds. Although the health care
Granite is a readily-available, durable material. That makes it an outstanding choice for kitchen countertops, since they take a lot of daily abuse in most homes.
As usual I woke up to the sound of my father pounding on my bedroom door, hollering, “Get up! Get on your feet! You’re burning daylight!” I met my brother in the hallway, and we took our time making it down the stairs, still waking up from last night’s sleep. As we made our way to the kitchen, I thought about what to have for breakfast: fried eggs, pancakes, an omelet, or maybe just some cereal. I started to get hungry. As usual, mom and dad were waiting in the kitchen. Mom was ready to cook whatever we could all agree on, and dad was sitting at the table watching the news. The conversation went as usual, “Good morning.” “How are you today?”
