The changing economic world that exists today means workplaces and employers may struggle to keep up. This can result in employees who feel stress or have a high level of anxiety. People who experience anxiety or stress at the workplace exist in great numbers. This means you should not feel alone, when a workplace seem to be in flux. Individuals need to learn how to cope with workplace stress and to reach out for help when managing workplace anxiety is necessary.

Anxiety in the Workplace

The overwhelming feeling of worry and stress can be caused by changes that occur in the workplace or external environment. Experiencing anxiety when at work is not uncommon. This is often seen at times when an employer is going through a round of layoffs. There is also staff reductions which could occur when a merger or bankruptcy occurs. One result will be an increase in calls to any employer-sponsored employee assistance programs from workers experiencing depression, anxiety, and stress.

Changes in the Workplace

Change that can occur in the workplace are the result of many factors. This can include a company that hires new workers, brings on new management, enters bankruptcy, is downsizing, announces layoffs of employees, increasing workloads, and retiring workers. This may include discussing a company announcement with current management. However, companies will need to have details in place. If communication is lacking in a organization, then department manages may not know any more than the workers do.
