I had applied for a job at Catholic Guardian society; in 2001 I did get the job. It was working with young girls in a group home, place there by the court. A group home is a place that children are sent to, once in foster care. A child can be in a group homes for many reasons; such as running away from home, not going to school and getting being arrested. I work every shift that was allowed, sometime doing doubles. When I started the job, I learn my way around fast. My partner was Michelle S.; she was great she began working there three years before me. Our primary job was to ensure the safety of these girls; their age would range from twelve through twenty-one. Our supervisor was great or so I thought. I soon realized that she was a horrible …show more content…
My thoughts, was if I could help young mothers to become better mothers to their children. I resigned from CGA, in 2008 and opened the doors to my daycare in 2009.I was a business owner, opened my 1st home based daycare, and that was my moment. It quickly became apparent to me that this was not just babysitting someone’s child/children; this was in fact a business with laws and regulations. I read and researched ever and anything I could find on daycare and how to run a business. Myself along with my little staff and the parents I had a team; and with their help my business became a company. While running a daycare and going through my educational journey, I have learn how blind I was to all the other ideas, theories and practices of other people. How accepting opinions and criticism would help me grow as a person and educator. My Company is made up of two separate businesses. But both have the same goal to teach children, and adults about child care. The daycare has been such a powerful influence in my life; it has given me a great since of accomplishment, and satisfaction. The daycare is designed for staff to supervise all of the children. All tables and chairs are different shapes and sizes to suit of the child. When you enter the daycare there is a big open space filled with bright colors, colorful posters wall decorations and a chalk board, our chalk board is made of a writeable black paint. All of the tables and chairs are centered in the middle of the
Overall, I was very impressed with the infant room I observed. To start off the day, the teacher warmly welcomed all of the children and parents. The teacher asked the parent how their night was since they left the daycare the night before, when they ate last, had a diaper change, and when did they wake up. I made me feel like the teacher really cared about the children even when they where not in her care and waited to make sure everything went ok at home. All of the personal care routines where fallowed and the teacher where constantly washing their ha...
Instead of focusing on what others were or were not doing, I decided to start focusing on me and goals I wanted to accomplish. One day, I was on the computer surfing the net and happened to get on social media. I happened to come by a post about The Birth Well doula training. A doula is a professional birth support person who assist women emotionally, physically, and with information during pregnancy, birth, and for a short while during postpartum. This sounded like a perfect opportunity to exercise my getting out and broadening my circle and meeting new people all the while fulfilling my birth worker goals from long ago. I decided to look into it, so on the day of the Q & A meeting I attended. I learned about the process, and I signed up for the classes. I was both super excited, and also super nervous at the same time because my family and I were experiencing financial hardships at the time, and I was about to be taking $400 dollars of our funds and investing into a career that was all up to me on whether or not it flourished.
Leading up to the collapse of the Caregroup, a researcher on the CareGroup network started an experiment with a knowledge management system application. The software was designed to locate and automatically copy information across the network. The researcher left the software up and running in its initial configuration. The software hadn’t been tested for the environment and began copying data in large volumes from other computers. By the afternoon of November 13, 2002 (the day of the collapse) the software was moving large terabytes of data across the network.
In this centre, their all settings for the school age children are appropriate for their all developmental skills. I think they are trying to meet their philosophy which is fostering and contributing to the child development partnership with parents. as well their mission statement, “Our mandate is to meet the needs of our school families by providing quality age appropriate, interesting, engaging enjoyable activities for the students entrusted to our care on all regular school days and non school weekdays.”
I spent two years working on a literary magazine and newsletter, and proved myself enough to grab a higher position my second year. Helping others perform to their fullest with my help is extraordinarily rewarding. These qualities reflected on the two years I spent regularly babysitting after school and on call. Babysitting not only helped me develop my leadership and role model traits, it was also gratifying to know that because I dedicated myself, I was making the lives of parents
This paper will establish the group contract of the family group and for fostering group cohesion, and shaping norms within the family group. This paper will discuss specific behaviors to be changed by group members, activities the family can engage in the family group that are fun, and specific ways the family can demonstrate love and belonging to each other. In addition, other information to be discussed is Choice Therapy and Reality Therapy and how they may apply to the group and this will be discussed in the week three videos. Furthermore, when looking at the group Guy needs to work on self-esteem issues, Beatrice needs to learn to be assertive and Katherine (Kat) needs to learn to deal with her emotions.
Over 670,000 children are put in the foster system yearly. Five out of eleven children put in foster care are put in a group home. Group Homes house multiple children at once with very little helpers. Like everything on earth, it has pros and cons.
They have failed to appropriately arrange the room and don’t allow enough creative freedom for the children to properly and adequately express themselves. Though this centre has a good foundation for success they still have a lot of work ahead to make it a responsive environment. It is important for the environment to promote healthy learning and inclusiveness for each of the children. Incorporating more play accessories, natural light, pathways, and more private quiet places they would do much better in succeeding in having a responsive
It was in my second year of college, upon transferring to Hofstra University, when I realized how much harder my experience as a foster youth made college for me. Because of this, I decided to dissect Administrative Children 's Services
There has definitely been a lot of stressors that have shaped me into a better professional and educator. I have overcame being displaced in a temporary room with little to know supplies for 3 months, being interim Head Teacher for 1.5 months while still performing all my Teacher Assistant duties, training and working with 2 new staff as well as personal issues going on as well. I have overcome everything. I believe now that I can tackle whatever life throws at me. This quarter, I believe that I became a better educator by increasing my abilities to individualize learning and development, being more focused on how children learn instead of what they learn, and learning techniques and practices I can put into effect next year as an educator. I definitely feel like a better educator after learning from this program. I have the ability to be patient when children are having negative behaviors. I have grown into a professional improvising in situations, and I definitely have a lot of knowledge about how children learn. The best part of my experience has been working with other professionals that I now call colleagues. I realize that networking with other agencies is the best way to accomplish goals for children. I have learned so much from working with people outside of Head Start and my other practicums. I have full confidence in my abilities to teach and educate children, as well as administrate. With my education, and experience I know that I am now a quality educator and can perform any job with
“It is Tuesday morning and Mary is sitting at her desk, when she overhears a co-worker talking about her to other employees. This situation bothered Mary because the person that was talking about her she called a friend. Mary let the matter go however, later that day returning to her disk from lunch she notices in big bold letters “MARY IS A LOSER”. Co-workers begun to laugh a few even bumped into her well walking past. Just before it was time to go home she heard the same co-worker from earlier lie and tell other co-workers Mary would talk about them behind their
Social Workers must be knowledgeable on how to facilitate and lead group sessions with clients. They must be cognizant on their responsibilities as a facilitator, and diligently work to meet the needs of all group members collectively and individually. According to Toseland, Ronald, & Rivas, Robert (2009) group work practice focuses on Social Work practice with a broad range of treatment and task groups and the group’s environment (pg. 2.). It is significant for Social Workers to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to be able to properly assess and assist in group atmospheres. At my field placement which is at the Covenant House, a homeless shelter in Detroit that services youth from ages 18-24. I am responsible for co-facilitating along with the agency’s Social Worker, a
Firstly, I hate my job because they are really unfair with everything; servers and bartenders always get special treatment. Servers and bartenders get to do whatever they want whenever they want; they get to sit down and talk to friends that comes to visit without a word being said to them by a manager. One of the server’s friends came in to visit her, and she went to the
My first option for a career was to be a Nursing Assistant, but I noticed that wasn’t my strongest passion. So I decided to go to Early Childhood Education since ever
One of the first things I noticed about my placement classroom was that it had a wide array of space. The walls were covered with pictures of family from different cultures and background. The toys in each and every area were accessible to children all day. For example, the blocks were open and available for children to play all day long. Children have plenty of open space to move around. The reading area has books and a big large tent for use. My placement consists of 7 non-verbal autistic children, hence they like being by themselves. The tent in the room provides a great a calm environment for children self-regulate their emotions. I feel welcomed in the room and ready to learn. There are plenty of toys in the room for children to play with,
