She started off designing book covers to other books until the time was right to write her own books. Her first of her books was Wonder, it is a great novel but she did not design the book cover herself. Auggie Pullman is a 10-year-old boy that faces many difficulties in his life. Starting the year with only had one or two friends but at the end, he realized that has changed. The point of the book where this mainly changed was when the school went to a nature place with school. Auggie was being picked on by kids from another school, but then kids from his own school stand up for him and help him from the attacking other kids. After this moment he feels really good about his new friends and how far he has come this year.
In conclusion, this book has a great outcome, being that August has new friends and people started to see him of how he really is and not how he looked like. It showed no matter how much kids bullied him he could always rise to the top and defy them. August Pullman a boy who faces many difficulties in life, makes a very brave decision in his life to attend mainstream school and is very happy with what he has achieved this
Heck organized his book chronologically, which strengthens the narrative It has moments of weakness due to the period between Heck’s childhood and when it was published. But it also has many more strengths than weaknesses; the first person perspective immerses you into the novel, the emotional appeal tugs at heart strings. The reader rides and feels Heck’s initial steps toward loyal Nazism and his devastation at the failure and deceptions committed by his party.
The author, Sherman Alexie, is extremely effective through his use of ethos and ethical appeals. By sharing his own story of a sad, poor, indian boy, simply turning into something great. He establishes his authority and character to the audiences someone the reader can trust. “A little indian boy teaches himself to read at an early age and advances quickly…If he’d been anything but an Indian boy living in the reservations, he might have been called a prodigy.” Alexie mentions these two different ideas to show that he did have struggles and also to give the audience a chance to connect with his struggles and hopefully follow the same journey in becoming something great. By displaying his complications and struggles in life with stereotypical facts, Alexie is effective as the speaker because he has lived the live of the intended primary audience he is trying to encourage which would be young Indian
The mood in this book reflects the mood of a teenager this helps the reader understand the main character Ethan Palmer.
Coming off the death of his father, his best friend, and his cousin, he must fight a constant battle against negative community influences such as guns, drugs, lack of opportunity, and cultural stereotypes. On the ruff streets of southeast Fresno, Eddie is just trying to get by. All he wants is to forget his violent past, find and hold down a job, and walk the right path, But after his cousin's murder, Eddie finds himself slowly drawn back into the cycle of violence and going against the scrim of a city sweltering in the grip of poverty, crime, and unfulfilled dreams, this is a story of a young man struggling to survive in a world spiraling out of control. Fresno is the city where the novel materializes.
How White people assumed they were better than Indians and tried to bully a young boy under the US Reservation. Alexie was bullied by his classmates, teammates, and teachers since he was young because he was an Indian. Even though Alexie didn’t come from a good background, he found the right path and didn’t let his hands down. He had two ways to go to, either become a better, educated and strong person, either be like his brother Steven that was following a bad path, where Alexie chose to become a better and educated person. I believe that Alexie learned how to get stronger, and stand up for himself in the hard moments of his life by many struggles that he passed through. He overcame all his struggles and rose above them
The author read books which his peers thought were “too hard” for him but that was how he became a strong reader. He realized teachers made books a public humiliation for children who had to read aloud.
Altogether, this is a book to be read thoughtfully and more than once. It is about an unusually sensitive and intelligent boy; but, then, are not all boys unusual and worthy of understanding? If they are bewildered at the complexity of modern life, unsure of themselves, shocked by the spectacle of perversity and evil around them - are not adults equally shocked by the knowledge that even children cannot escape this contact and awareness? & nbsp;
Teddy and Summer go to the same school and there is a really bad bully at the school that picks on Teddy. In the book, Summer comes up with a plan to humiliate the bully in front of the whole school and show Teddy that he can stand up to his bully's. The go through with the plan and it works perfectly. This shows that Summer is smart because she came up with a plan that made the bully look bad and showed Teddy that he could stand up for himself without her.
...hough there were a lot of odds against him, Sherman Alexie pushed towards what he really wanted. Life can have a lot of obstacles, but you have to find ways to overcome them. You also have keep on fighting. It doesn’t matter what people tell you, if you believe in something it will happen. This story is truly inspirational. Unlike many of the other Indian children, Alexie refused to fail in school. No child anywhere should give up at all and always have this kind of a attitude. The kids were expected to fail, but Alexie was one of the few to not live up to those expectations. Alexie read everything and everywhere he went. This is probably one of the reasons Alexie never failed in school, because he loved to learn, he wanted to be smart. A lot of people can learn from him. Life is whatever you make it, so make wise choices, and don’t let any obstacles hold you back.
Children have often been viewed as innocent and innocent may be a nicer way to call children naive. Since children’s lives are so worry free they lack the knowledge of how to transition from being a child to becoming an adolescent. Their lack of knowledge may be a large part of their difficulties growing up, which could be a few rough years for many. In books like the boy in the striped pajamas the story is told from the point of view of a little boy, this way we get a full view of how innocent he is. In this book the writer shows the reader first hand how a child viewed the holocaust and how his innocence cost him his life. Then in books like the perks of being a wallflower Charlie is a teen whom is struggling with the transition from being a child to becoming an adolescent. In this book the writer gives a first hand look at how difficult it can be to transition into an adolescent. Charlie has many difficulties in this book; he is in search of his identity and how to fit in.
Many people can agree that adolescence can be some of the most nasty, gruesome years of a boy's life due. While this may be true, this stage in a boy's life is the one in which he finds out who he truly is. Some people can find who they are with little to no outside influence, others, such as Joe Coutts in The Round House by Louise Erdrich, take almost a whole community to shape who they are.
Although Adam Brown was thrown many challenges in his life, he achieved his American Dream by joining the military and serving his country. From the beginning, the reader will learn that Adam was not the biggest person but also come to learn that he definitely had the biggest heart.
When I watched the movie Wonder I felt like everyone could connect to how the main character Auggie was feeling because we all have insecurities. Auggie faced so many challenges in the movie like bullying, betrayal, arguments and disagreements, but also Auggie wasn't paying close attention to the people around him like his sister. His sister (Via) was always the one feeling left out. No one in his family was paying attention to her and after awhile she just got used to it like it was a habit. They would always pay attention to the problems in her brother's life rather than her own sometimes. At the start of the movie when it was Auggie's first day at school lots of kids were bullying him. One day, Auggie was sitting at the cafeteria alone, so Jack

Wonder, it is something that all of us around the world can experience. We really have no idea of what wonder actually is and what it really means. Samuel Johnson and Albert Einstein both have different views of what wonder means to them. Personally I agree with Einstein more than Johnson. I have experienced wonder before, and this is how I would describe it.
