Merry Christmas! We are starting a magical time of year that presents an opportunity to embrace love and diversity. As a school system, we have embraced diversity through new schedules, programs, and infrastructure. It has been a wonderful and exciting year for our students and staff. Our teachers are dedicated to our students and are implementing new and exciting methods with which to engage and challenge our clients. The support from our parent leadership teams, all of our school level student leaders and our many dedicated parent volunteers has never been stronger. I have attached an important message regarding winter weather. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school and express your thoughts.

Sharon’s planned “Open House” event for students, teachers and staff was met with resistance from staff, and overshadowed by the Suburban Journal Report labeling Bayou as a failing school. Some staff strongly opposed the event and stated there was no reason to return prior to the first day of school. Someone anonymously left ...

The weather report calls for below normal temperatures reaching into the low teens with a freezing rain snow mixture. The stores are packed and everyone is scrambling to buy supplies. Every gas station is out of bread, milk and fire wood. A bag of side walk salt cannot be found anywhere. This may be something that you deal with every winter. This type of weather may not be a big deal, or anything to cause panic where you live. But, where I live, this type of weather is a huge deal. We very rarely have to cope with bad weather. We like it that way!

I attended a Board of Education meeting on May 3, 2017. The meeting had a published agenda that was available on the website ahead of the meeting. A press release of the meeting was sent to local newspapers and uploaded to the school districts website on April 27th. The meeting began on time and started with the pledge and the call to order. The meeting then went into closed session so the Board of Education members could speak with legal counsel.
The major decisions concerning education in Cabarrus County are made by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the local school board,
The school board was not allowing the kids to attend due to them feeling as the school scores will be very low. Many kids failed behind and some gave up and became drop outs. These people are not treated equally
Did you know that over Christmas break for Council Bluffs, Iowa they weather colder than Antarctica? It was below zero and in the negative numbers. On a few days it was negative five and negative two. It was very dangerous for people to be outside in the cold. Cars were acting up because of how cold it was and it was dangerous for people to be outside for longer than 30 minutes. My mom’s car always acts up when it’s cold outside her tire pressure drops. My brothers car was outside all night and my mom pulled it in the garage after my dad left and it didn’t want to start or go up the driveway. Walking in and out of places were very cold and it was dangerous for your skin to be showing in those weather conditions. So after me and my mom walked
With the amount of abnormal disorders being diagnosed every day, there are a variety of psychological orientations that practice their beliefs and views on treatments. The biological perspective is an orientation that I support, while orientations such as the sociocultural perspective and the humanistic perspective are more questionable in their ideas of therapy.
Weather does not stop people from doing their daily routines. In the article, “Even in Alaska, temps as low as -59 are hard to handle”, it mentions that kids go to recess when it is still minus twenty degrees and the kids do not
The neighborhood soon filled with children excited over the freshly fallen snow. Since all of the schools were closed, the children were assured of enjoyment for several days. The sounds of the winter snowstorm were echoing throughout the town, from the snowplows in the distance, to the scraping of snow shovels that sounded like fingernails scratching a chalkboard. Neighbors were shoveling snow that had accumulated on their sidewalks and driveways. The snow that was predicted to be several inches by the end of the weekend quickly piled up to around eight inches by that evening.
Parents and community members want to know that their contributions towards the campus are valued and appreciated. Many times we take for granted those events occurring around us. It is crucial we express gratitude towards those people investing in increasing student achievement. Stakeholders want to feel accepted and worthy in their contributions to the campus. In addition, communities are made up of different types of culture, race and income status making the culture diverse which may act as a barrier in creating a positive atmosphere. Yet, this type of misunderstanding can be avoided by simply asking questions in a respectful manner. School leaders must make parent and community involvement a priority, valuing and accepting each other’s differences. “Schools provide wonderful opportunities to bring together students, families, educators and other community members to build the collaborative partnerships that promote quality educational, recreational, and social opportunities for all citizens” (Lechtenberger and Mullins, 2004, p. 21). Schools, parents and community members must work together to support all students in a learning environment to ensure every student is a successful lifetime
