The success of The Wilson Brothers depends on the leadership of the organization. The brothers are typical examples for their employees to follow. The evidence of this is that they work longer hours than most of their employees. Compared to other owners, they will give the job to others to run the company and employees can report their responsibilities to the leader instead of the owner directly inspecting. However, the Wilson Brothers know what they do and they always show their enthusiasm for the job. I think the Wilson Brothers need to have the qualities of a leader. They should provide leadership for their staff, clear job descriptions as well as on-the-job assessments. They rarely direct employees or supervise their employees.

If I had to make a suggestion to better manage the situation, I’d probably suggest the organization to practice and use collaborating as a management strategy. I’d propose that Kate and Tom get together with their other willing co-workers and come up with an appropriate solution to the organization’s problems. When they feel comfortable and satisfied with their possible solutions and proposal, they should then pitch it to the hierarchy of the organization: Jeff Donaldson, Rick Clark, etc. This would hopefully produce a mutually and completely satisfactory solution.
RL Wolfe decided to try the SHRM through self-driven teams. In the past, the company had highly unionized stru...
Leadership does not start by focusing on others; it starts with focusing on oneself. Start with yourself. Leadership is a matter of how to be, not how to do it. All great leaders must have good character. Character is made up of two interacting parts, values and attributes. And we have to understand what they both mean first to understand how they are a main focal point of leadership.
Leadership is a quality which cannot be acquired by any person from the other but it can be acquired by self-determination of a person. Leadership can best be called the personality of the very highest ability-whether in ruling, thinking, imagining, innovation, warring, or religious influencing. Leadership is practiced not so much in words a it is in attitude and in actions. Their actions leave a long lasting memory in the line of history and lead up to may events that occur today. To be a leader one will need many qualities. Leaders have a purpose and strategies to accomplish that purpose. They are driven and motivated. In the end they should be able to attain good results. These innate talents help to make up a leader that will succeed and be efficient in carrying out tasks. But, the purpose of this paper is determine what truly makes a leader successful. A successful leader should be considered more on their impact rather than their accomplishments of their organizations alone for they are not sufficient in determining the key to their success .
Throughout history, there have been great leaders: civil rights leaders, business leaders, and spiritual leaders who have inspired millions. Leaders and visionaries such as John Lennon or Martin Luther King Jr. fought for unity, love, and made an impact on people through their speeches or songs. Watching these great men touch the hearts of millions has brought out a desire for me to become a C.E.O. and an important leader in the life of others. Not only do leaders have knowledge in politics, in emotional values, and spread a certain message or “vision” to their followers or co-workers, but they have certain special characteristics which make them great leaders or heroes. So, what makes these people different from you and me? Could it be that they are better looking? Perhaps they speak in parables or give great speeches? People have often said to me that a good leader is a person who guides both physically and mentally. Going to the job shadowing program has given me an opportunity to broaden my view on how efficient and effective a good leader can be in the work place. Something that has been shown to me in my many interviews with the board of directors has been that every leader must have the capability to have integrity, listen, a vision, and must be responsible.
In the film 12 Angry Men, a group of twelve jurors are deciding the fate of a young boy accused of murdering his father. Throughout the juries dilleration, one man exhibits all of the qualities of leadership. This man is juror number 8 played by Henry Fonda. Fonda not only exhibits the the 10 qualities of a leader but he uses these qualities to lead the entire jury to a vote of not guilty (Fonda & Lumet, 1957).
In John Kotter’s article, the first error mentioned I believe is one of the most important of all the steps. Not establishing a great enough sense of urgency is a very common error. Without this, a company usually has no idea how it has already started the failure process. In the reference to the NEWC, Gregory Peck’s character Andrew "Jorgy" Jorgenson is the benevolent and folksy leader who is very near and dear to the small Rhode Island company. He is in a sense the hometown hero. Even his nickname, Jorgy, shows the affection that the workers established and personal relationship they with their boss. From his speech, it is clear that he and everyone else knew NEWC was in trouble financially. During Jorgenson’s appeal to the shareholder, he spoke as a friend and not as the leader of the company.
According Hughes, Beatty, and Dinwoodie’s ( 2014) work on strategy, all areas of an organization need to collaborate with each other to help bring strategy to fruition. They mentioned four elements of leadership strategy. (1) Leadership Drivers of Business Strategy. This is the identification of and the preparing of leaders to implement strategy. Certain skills, abilities and resources need to be in place prior to a strategies’ roll out. When the correct leaders have the proper skill sets are in place coupled with the backing of the organization this may create a dynamic situation. Hughes et al. (2014) describes these as “levers- that if pulled will catapult the organization toward success” (p. 236). (2)Leadership Culture, as mentioned
Jim Collins and his research team have done a wonderful job identifying what it takes for a company to go from good to great. I found this book to be extremely interesting and would like to share several of my thoughts.
John C. Maxwell is spot on when he says “Leadership makes a difference.” Not only does leadership make a difference, it is the difference between success and failure, especially when it comes to a school. Granted Maxwell is more of business person, his knowledge, wisdom, and experience can easily translate into any setting, especially the education field. After reading Maxwell’s book, I sat down with my mentor and discussed a few of these nuggets of Leadership Gold.
Leadership is essentially the ability to motivate. An effective leader can motivate others toward reaching a common goal. Leaders are different than managers in that leaders inspire others to do the work needed while managers generally tend to manage the tasks associated with completing the goal.
AJ Hackett looks after their employees by providing them with food; this is done 3 to 4 times in the winter to keep their employees happy and to motivate them to come to work even when it’s cold. After 3 years for working with the company they give their employees $500.00, after 5 years they give you $1000.00 for free. They give their employees gifts on their first day every year that they are still with AJ Hackett. Also they give their employee’s free tickets for the attractions; presents for Christmas and Easter also training is given. AJ Hackett deal with complains efficiently by talking to their client face to face if they have a problem and they offer a refund or another jump. If they have left the site they will email their client and offer the same product or refund. AJ Hackett has appraisals 30, 60 and 90 days into the employees trail, then 6 months later and then every year they will do an appraisal. I think that AJ Hackett would be a great company to work for because they look after their staff really well and they offer some great rewards for working for the company. One of the biggest Health and Safety hazards on site is the staircase because it is designed to look like a bungee cord bouncing back, this is due to customers getting distracted looking around and not focusing on walking down the staircase and they end up tripping or falling

Leadership is seen as a process by which one individual influences others toward the attainment of group or organizational goals. It is a social influence process, which involves voluntary action on the part of followers and it is always purposeful and goal-oriented. Leadership deals with influence and is not the same as management, which includes planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling.
