Leadership. What does it take to be a successful leader? An exceptional leader is able to captivate their followers and lead them to accomplish a task that will, overall, help the cause. William Bradford’s leadership was far superior than John Smith’s because of differences in values, captivating followers, and the response that colonists had to the leaders. William Bradford had a unique set of values that portrayed who he was as a leader. His values also lead him to be successful in developing a colony. Bradford focused his leadership around religion. He truly believed that God made him the leader he was and that all good things were from God. This thinking led Bradford to obtain other values that would contribute to establishing
In the New World Bradford and Morton were both important men of our history. The stories of both great men give us an insight into the way religion and influence affected Puritan life.
Many people possess leadership qualities although they don’t rule a country. Meriwether Lewis, the official leader of the Lewis and Clark Expedition has been called “undoubtedly the greatest pathfinder this country has ever known.” Just like Hazel, Meriwether Lewis led a group of followers into unknown territory. The two guides faced many difficult situations that they were able to overcome since they had the qualities of a notable leader. Both of the journeys were rough, but because of the brave leaders both expeditions were successful.

Each leader has his or her own unique leadership style. The gift of being a leader can be learned. Certain individuals are born with a charismatic style and can easily be a leader. A successful leader is one who can inspire and motivate people towards a goal. Martin Luther King Jr. was an individual with a born gift to lead people. The following paper will discuss how Martin Luther King Jr. was able to inspire and motivate people with his effective leadership style.
Leadership can be defined in many ways, but one thing all leaders have in common is determination to get a task done. Although leaders may carry out this action in many different ways they all do what needs to be done in order to reach their goal. Leadership is essentially the ability to motivate. An effective leader can motivate others toward reaching a common goal. Leaders are different than managers in that leaders inspire others to do the work needed while managers generally tend to manage the tasks associated with completing the goal.
To be a leader you need to be able to inspire others, get people motivated, and set an example to other people. A leader needs to do all of these because if one of these aspects fails people don’t look at the leader...
Our 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, is a great example of servant leadership in America. It has been said that the reason he sought the presidency was that it was the best way he could serve his fellow Americans (Welborn, 2011). Lincoln’s desire to free the slaves is the perfect example of his servant leadership style with the ultimate goal of empowering the people by giving them what they needed (Welborn, 2011).

What does it take to be an effective leader? This is something that has been asked many times over the course of human history. Some might say that having a strong personality and a commanding presence is needed in order to be a strong leader. Others might say that someone who stays on top of everything and keeps order is more effective as a leader. Everyone has their own opinion on this subject and in many regards, they are not wrong. Good quality leadership is something that is hard to possess and is not something everyone can do.
