I’m been driving for over 10 years and every since I took my first cruise around the neighborhood, I’ve been aware of the amount of angry, dangerous and aggressive drivers that are plaguing our streets and city. They make me nervous every time I have to get out and drive and I end up dreading going anywhere. We shouldn’t be worried about getting rear ended or t-boned everytime we leave our driveway. We need to band together and figure out an ultimate solution for this, so people don’t have to be anxious just driving to the grocery store. Just this week I was driving to work, going west down 34th during rush hour traffic and a lifted truck came up from behind me honking it’s horn as it passed multiple people while driving in the turning lane. I see similar situations everyday on my drive to work and it just seems to be getting worse. Everyone I talk to seems to have a weekly “crazy driver” story and there are endless news stories about hit and runs, wrecks and road rage incidents. I started off driving a little quicker to make it to work and then transformed to weaving in and out of traffic while driving. I was extremely impatient and would lay on the horn whenever someone wasn’t going quick enough. When I drove with coworkers they hated driving would be and would avoid it. I eventually stopped driving recklessly after getting rear ended by another reckless driver that wasn’t paying attention and trying to get to work himself. It helped me realize that the same would eventually happen to me if I kept driving in the same fashion. I began driving the speed limit, making sure I had plenty of time to get to my destination on time. Making sure I didn’t focus on the other drivers also helped prevent me from getting angry at their
