1 Why should we hire you? I believe you should hire me because I am hard working, reliable, dedicated; I have experience and the attitude to excel in this position. I worked in the college of Health professions and social work as a student assistant/OPS for 2 years at Florida Gulf Coast University. During that time I’ve managed the office with all secretarial duties – including receptionist, communicating with student and prospective students. In addition, I’ve interned at Hamilton Mikes Law firm and alongside Attorney David Steckler. These internships gave me the push and confidence I needed to prepare me for a fast paste environment such as your firm. 2 What are some of your strengths? My top strengths are motivated, trustworthy, and friendly with great work ethic. …show more content…
My weakness is that I ask a lot questions. If I don’t understand an assignment I would want to ask questions in order for me to accomplish it the correct way. 4 Tell me about a time you had a failure. What have you learned from your mistakes? One of the scenarios that I can think of is when I set up a goal for myself and I was unable to accomplish that goal. Besides that I honestly do not believe in failures. I believe that if you work hard enough then you should succeed and if it doesn’t happen the first time keep trying and don’t give up. Life is a serious of lessons and if you understand what you did wrong, analyze the situation, make a new plan and try again. With that said, I analyze what I did wrong, set a new goal and make sure that I accomplish the requirements so that I can reach my goal on time. 5 Tell me about a time you had a conflict with a co-worker, supervisor, etc. How did you resolve it? I haven’t had a conflict per se but there was a time when I felt belittled by a supervisor. I asked if I can talk to her privately at lunch and told her the way I felt about what she said to me. She apologized, I accepted and we move on from
The weakness I portray are very difficult for me to think of. I know that I have quite a few but to change them is something that I have not full conquered yet. A weakness I know I have is sentence structure. I am not very good at putting sentences together and making them strong and well developed. Another weakness that is obvious is word choice. I don't always know the exact wording to use in different parts of a paper, this makes it hard to understand sometimes not very well written.
Understanding how situations can become conflicts are important matters to investigate in hopes of preventing it from happening again. Every employee (in their minds) have different perspectives as to why conflicts happen. Such things include a lack of communication, feeling as if others are not doing their jobs, crazy rules, special treatment of friends as well as expectations that they feel are not reasonable. Conflicts that management may be involved in could be poor communication, lack of appropriate response to any given situation, not taking responsibility for their own errors, letting work & personal life interfere with the other, as well as not having good prioritizing
While Mike believes that conflict is a normal part of any organization, and the real challenge is how one deals with it. He then provides you with his “5 Keys of Dealing with Workplace Conflict,” (Myatt, 2012) which are: “Define Acceptable Behavior, Hit Conflict Head-on, Understanding the WIIFM Factor, The Importance Factor, and View Conflict as Opportunity.” (Myatt, 2012) What I have learned for this article is, that in order to be a good leader, you need to know how to deal with conflict, employ effective conflict resolution, while also avoided unnecessary
Conflict can be perceived in different ways of positively communicating about a topic or negatively, but one thing that can’t argued is that conflict occurs in everyday life and there’s no way of escaping it. One form of conflict that occurs frequently due to constant interaction is in the workplace. Many people see workplace conflicts as just disputes between coworkers, when there are many forms of personal conflicts between those coworkers and bosses such as
Failure can cause a torrent of mixed emotions and thoughts. One can begin to doubt their motives for even attempting to succeed at a certain task. Some people may choose to give up after failure, but there are a select few who rise up to the occasion and move forward to try and succeed no matter how many tries it takes. By overcoming those difficult moments in life, it gives a person a sense of accomplishment and pride and that alone is a beautiful thing.
Failure isn’t always something you have control of or have the ability to predict. Failure seems to happen at the worst of times; however we need to accept it, because you cannot always win. My greatest failure would be tearing my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), my junior year in a lacrosse game, through no fault of my own in which my body physically failed me, but it truly changed my aspect of life in multiple ways.
When I think about my past experiences of when I failed many scenarios come to mind. Us as humans beings are bound to fail at one point in life but its how you learn from them that makes it a fundamental. I came to a realization that all my past failures have played a huge role in my life, all of which have been either a lesson or an eye opener. The most vital scenario is when I failed to make the grade point average (GPA) required by my school to run track my first year entering high school. This event played a major role in my high school life.
A time when I experiences failure is when I made the B team for volleyball. From not making the A team I learn a lot of lessons. I knew that if I wanted to be on the A team then I was going to the have to push myself to improve. I knew that just because I didn’t make the team that I wanted to I shouldn’t give up and quit. I also knew that because I didn’t make the team that I want I couldn’t take it out on other people. I had to show good character and prove that I wasn’t taking it out on anyone else. I also knew that I could set long term and short term goals to reach to become better.
Conflict is something that you encounter pretty much every day. It is almost inevitable that you will not encounter conflict as you through your day or doing anything else. There are different ways to confront conflict, and it depends on the type of person that you are. The different ways that people can confront conflict are either head-on or just complete avoidance. When people avoid a conflict, sometimes it tends to work in their favor, but sometimes it does not and the problem just becomes bigger. Also with handling it head-on there are some major problems. Sometimes the people who confront those conflicts are not people who can express themselves in a good manner, so they tend to blow things out of proportions. “Our basis understanding
Conflict can happen in any organization. It can be viewed as a difference of opinions, ideas or beliefs. Conflict between supervisors and employees can create friction and can be uncomfortable, frustrating, and stressful. It is important to know how to resolve conflicts in the workplace. Not being able to deal with a conflict can jeopardize your job and the organization. “If you understand the cause of a conflict, it can help you resolve the conflict and help prevent similar recurrence” (DuBrin, 2015, p. 199). Dealing with conflict can be stressful and can hinder an employee’s professional growth. Learning how to deal with conflict in the workplace can help build strong relationships, overcome challenges, succeed at work,
Conflict can occur anywhere and at any place, and recently there has been an ongoing conflict that has been manifesting at work, between a supervisor and an employee, and I am stuck in the middle of their conflict. For the past few months, a coworker has been moved from seat to seat, all over the call center. At first, the conflict was very difficult to see, however, between the supervisor and the employee, atmosphere of tension was felt when interaction was made. The employee, Ana Maria, began showing acts of defiance against her supervisor’s instructions, and additionally began spreading her discontent with fellow employees. As a result from her discontent being spread with to the other employees, work productivity began to fall, which caused
An experience of failure I had was when I was in my 8th grade year. At the beginning of the year we planned as a class to go on the body glove and play a game called underground railroad where we have hide around the whole school and out run the taggers. But we got it taken away from us even after we were worn that if we keep up what we were doing it was going to get taken away. The first thing we got taken away was the body glove. The reason it got taken away was because everyone in our class were either about to fail or already are failing. Only a quarter of the class was passing and that could go on the trip. Also because of drama that was going on. For example for one week our class would argue with others and not listen. We also went to
This happened when I failed. My failure reveled to me several life-lessons. One lesson that it showed was to never give up. I was right on track to achieving success, until I stopped trying. If I had continued to try to reach my goal, I would have achieved success. Another life-lesson that my failure taught me was to set your goals high, to a point where you can’t stop trying until you have met your goal. During my freshman through junior year, I worked very hard to accomplish my goal. Then, during senior year, I stopped trying to achieve my goal, because I thought that I already met the goal. If I would have changed my goal to being the top of my class, I would have had to try very hard until the day of graduation. In turn, I would have become an honor graduate. My failure also taught me to never give up. I would have achieved success, if I hadn’t given up. Another aspect of life that my failure taught me was to never forget your goals. When “senior-it is” hit me, I completely forgot about my goals. Had I remembered my goal, I would have succeeded. One last life lesson that failure has revealed to me is to always try your hardest. No matter what the task is, always put all you have to overcome the obstacle. Failure is disappointing, but it is a necessary part of
Failure is the result from actions that were not successful, to have failed your actions. Society believes that failure should be hated but it is fundamental to success and to achieve goals. Each human learns from their failures, their success becomes even greater. The key to success is to believe, other want to postpone you into total failure; but you can use those failures for your benefit. I have experienced many failures that have impacted the outcome of my life in negative and positive ways, the most traumatizing failure was my rejection of the National Honor Society. I had dreamed of joining the National Honor Society since the staff had introduced it during the freshmen induction, it had become a goal mine for the entirety of high school.
“Conflict”! What does it mean? Stephen Robbins, author of Organizational Behavior, defines conflict as, "A process that begins when one party perceives that another party has negatively affected or is about to negatively affect something the first party cares about." In the workplace it may manifest in a number of ways. Examples can include things that happen; when, your ideas or thoughts are not broadly accepted. Your opinion is opposed or downplayed. When you are due for a promotion and someone else gets it. When someone you have a crush on; is romancing someone else etc. Conflicts need not be always bad. They can also be used as a tool for healthy competition, which can encourage an individual to put his best foot forward and cover the extra ground. It all depends on how the management uses this tool.
