Do you have friends with a curfew? This would not be a good idea because teens need to at least take a walk and hang out with their friends. Teenagers at age 14 or older should not have curfews because what if they have to go to work. This may help them stay out of trouble but what if it was an emergency and they couldn’t go out ? This is why teenagers shouldn’t have a curfew. First, teenagers need to be let out because they may have things to do after school. They might have to go to a baseball practice or school activities.. Then I had a conversation with my mom explaining to her that I should not have a curfew and she agreed because being on a softball team was great exercise for me and it gave me a sport to put on my high school transcript. Many young teens out past 10p.m. are only trying to get home or have a place of interest in mind. There shouldn’t be an automatic negative assumption of a teen that is out past 10pm. Teenagers should not have labels placed upon them when they have not caused any trouble. Curfew laws create these labels on young teens and put down the ones who are innocent. Curfew laws discriminate against young teens who have done nothing wrong and serve no threat to the community.

Teenagers' jobs and extracurricular activities are not the only thing that would be affected, school assignments could be interfered by curfews. Teachers occasionally assign group projects to be completed outside of school. Members having conflicting schedules may only be able to accomplish the project in the evening. Curfews could interfere with the project resulting in an unfinished project. Along with unfinished projects, even studying with a peer or at the library would not be accomplished. Students require many hours of studying in order to be able to have the knowledge for a test and studying with another person can help tremendously. When I study for a test, it occasionally requires the whole afternoon before I'm prepared. The studying hours would be limited due to the curfew that would be set. Curfews, over all, would interfere with the daily lives of teens. Some would argue that curfews keep teens out of trouble at night, but if teens are already willing to break the law with the acts they are performing, what would compel them to not break curfew? That is not the reality; the majority of teenagers will not be out looking for trouble. On a typical Friday night teenagers will be hanging out with their friends, catching up with everything that has gone on during the week. Why do parents fear for their teenager’s lives? So often we hear about violent crimes and things that go bump in the night, but do we think that the problems can be solved by a magical curfew? Can parents really keep their teenagers out of trouble or does an imposed curfew only lead to resentment and chaos? Parents think back to when you were a teenager, did you have a curfew? If so, did you follow the rules or break them? Teenagers are no more likely to follow the rules today than they were in the past. It is not likely that creating a curfew for teenagers will cut down on the risk of violence and rule breaking.

This definition refers to the curfews that are enacted in some states throughout the United States and some countries. A curfew can also be described as a regulation requiring a person to be home at a certain prescribed time, as imposed by a parent on a child (Dictionary.com). Local city curfew laws are enforced with the intension of reducing the juvenile crime rate. On the other hand, parents enforce curfews to keep teens safe, to protect them and to save them from getting involve in illicit things.
Teenagers should definitely have a curfew, imposing curfews will help keep teens out of trouble legally, sets strict boundaries, and provides safety. You should talk to as many people as possible and make them aware of the dangers of not having a curfew. Be a fellow citizen and help your community stop teen crimes and crimes of teens being victims.
Teens push boundaries and break rules. Teens think they are indestructible and and can do whatever they want. Most teenagers will argue with parents and family and they need time and space to cool off. Teens seem to always be getting in trouble from doing various illegal activities, which is why some believe having a curfew will help cut down on the amount of trouble. If the police have heard of a crime committed and it is late at night and they see a group of High Schoolers they will question you and maybe even bring you to the station. In 1997 9 out of 10 cities said that curfews are a good use of police officers time and 88 % observed that enforcing curfews made their streets safer. If curfews can be inflicted and put into play, students may have much more opportunities to succeed and be better than the people before them.
