By limiting when youth can be out on their own, you limit the opportunity for them to commit crime. Also they will be limited to being exposed to seedy nighttime activities, which will have a negative impact on them.

That is not the reality; the majority of teenagers will not be out looking for trouble. On a typical Friday night teenagers will be hanging out with their friends, catching up with everything that has gone on during the week. Why do parents fear for their teenager’s lives? So often we hear about violent crimes and things that go bump in the night, but do we think that the problems can be solved by a magical curfew? City Council’s addition of a curfew would be harmful for the teenage life. The curfew takes away their freedoms, and makes it so they can’t hang with friends after work or after an after school activity such as a sporting event. It also makes it harder for teens to work because most teens need nights shifts because of school, and other activities. It also reduces the time to have fun during summer… some teens might work during the day, and then after work they go to hang with their friends till late at night. The effect of the curfew will create a gap in the abilities for teens to manage their time during the day because they don’t have as much time in the day.

There has been talk about how they are going to make kids under the age of 17 have a curfew at 9:00 PM. Although I understand that kids in high school should have a curfew, but I disagree with some of the conditions of this. First, teenage years is the time they develop responsibility, therefore they need some freedom to develop this on their own . Second, I also believe that parents should be able to decide on what time their kid needs to be home since they know if their child is responsible or not. Third, I find it funny that at the age of sixteen you are deemed responsible enough to drive and have a job, but why is it that at that age you are not responsible enough to stay out past 9:00 PM.
I believe that teen curfews are important, it is a thing that all teens need to have so they won't fall asleep in class during the next day.
