Why Men and Women should be Equal?
This is a speech to persuade society why men and women should be equal. In addition to this, this speech is specifically aimed at young people because they’re the new generation. To begin with, there is a group of three used when I describe men “powerful, dominant and strong”. This technique is used to express how men are being portrayed today and in the past. However, not all men are the exact same. The irony used in this speech is to imply that women vehemently hate it when their husband is drunk however, it was invented by a female. This will influence the audience to stop and think about what has been said. In addition to this, I have used a rhetorical question multiple times in this speech. This is mainly because it is a persuasive speech and the rhetorical questions are purposely used to grab the audience and question their knowledge. To also make them think twice instead of having an instant judgement.
We say to ourselves how men are meant to be dominant and women are meant to be delicate. However, we should be asking our self why do we think like that? However, the gender pay gap is another problem. “In 2017, men on average were paid £1.32 more per hour than women, which, as a proportion of men’s pay, is a pay gap of 9.1%.” This evidently shows that women who are living independently are also suffering.
