Why Should Chocolate Milk Be Banned From Schools

A big debate is flying around the schools in the US. Should you ban chocolate milk from school or keep it as a golden rule? Does chocolate belong to the other foods in the cafeteria? Some people believe chocolate milk is healthy and full of nutrition kids need daily. Although others disagree sayings there is too much sugar to consider chocolate milk healthy. Both sides have strong arguments, but it is clear to see chocolate milk doesn’t belong in the school cafeteria. First of all, chocolate milk is filled with sugar and calories. Secondly, it is also unhealthy in many other ways. Chocolate milk’s vitamins can also be replaced with other foods. Chocolate milk should be banned from schools.

Taji Mortazavi, a nutrition author, states, “ to break down milk you need a supply of lactase to break down the lactose in milk, as we get older we get less lactase decreasing our ability to digest milk properly.”This means when we get older we aren’t supposed to drink milk. Drinking milk when you get older is unhealthy. Mortazavi also explains that many cows are fed hormones and antibiotics. Consuming the cows’ milk means you are drinking liquid antibiotics and hormones. Proving my point chocolate milk is unhealthy because of the hormones and antibiotics. Dr. Neal Barnard says, “Milk is a big part of the obesity plague.” The “obesity plague” is that being overweight is spreading around. It is said that people who are born after 2000 will have a shorter life that people who were born before the 2000s. Chocolate milk is a factor of obesity.
