Due to early school times, kids do not get enough sleep, which is why they should have school started in later times (Vyas 1). These health risks are dangerous to young teens. Many teens stay up late playing video games or finishing school work, which leads to unhealthy sleep. Students need to be able to graduate from high school and to do that, we need to be sure they get enough sleep to focus throughout their school day. Rather than having a good amount of sleep, students focus more on the later in the day. Students will feel more refreshed with the sun shining and you will be more awake for the day. When teens go to school earlier in the day they don't quite focus and do school work, so if they go to school later they will have enough motivation for school work and homework. In order to get kids to show up to school, it would be better to let them sleep in for at least an hour later in the day. Schools should be allowed later school times due to how it would positively affect students and it would make them less stressed, tired, more focused, and capable of turning things around on time. Over the years there have been so many arguments over what time school should start but which one proves to be the best solution? Oh the alarm clock is ringing time to go to school. For some high school students getting enough rest is a challenge. Seattle schools are pushing their start times back to 8:45 a.m instead of 8:00. To me this shouldn’t happen. I believe that school should start at the regular time and not make the tenns slack off and sleep in. It is the teens own fault they aren’t getting enough rest. Parents should limit their kids from being out so late on school nights. The late school start would also move after school practices like football, to a later time. If the goal is trying to get kids rest it still would be a late night for the teens.

One the biggest issues at Mclane is tardies in the morning, school starting too early, lack of effort and bad grades. Our school has a lot of tardies every day in the morning because school starts too early but if we started late, the numbers of tardies will decrease instantly. Every student will be on time instead of being late because they have more than enough time to get ready. It is proven teenagers are not ready to learn until 11am and their brain isn't ready to function. Students will have more than enough time to do their homework, esspecially for ap students, which will lead to better grades.
