Why Not to skip class Skipping class is not a good decision to make. One reason for this is that you might miss something and get a bad grade because you missed something. Another reason is that it does not look good when colleges look at it. Last reason is that teachers won’t trust you as much. If you skip class than you might miss an assignment that the teacher went over and would get a zero because you did not show up for class. This is a big deal because zeros tank your grade. Also you might miss something they learned for a test and would not know how to do that section when the test comes around. When you skip a class you would be counted absent and being absent to many times is not a good thing. If you miss an assignment then you would also miss the explanation of the assignment and then you would not know how to do it and would not get a good grade on it. The worst part about that is that you will probably get a zero and get talked to by …show more content…
Skipping class a longer effect than just the couple of days after, It could affect the college you go to and the job you get. If a college sees that you have skipped a class they will be cautionate to see if you skip a college class which has a greater effect on you. When you apply for a college they look at almost everything, and when they see that you had skipped class they might not want you because of the type of student you are. Even if you only do it once it could have an effect on the years to come. Colleges are picky even without skipping class so they would be extra picky if they see that you had skipped a class. They would notice that you had skipped a class, and they would not want you there at their college because you might skip one of their classes. They want loyal students to attend their college and if they see that you had skipped a class then they might not accept you into their program and it would be hard finding a job in the
Number one rule in the book is “go to class always.” Many students used to go to school because their parents force them to. However, in college, students have the choice to attend the class or not. Some courses don’t have attending policy, so they won’t count students who where absent. This makes student feel more freely to whether attend class or not. Students usually skip classes because they pretend that they are tired or they want to go to a shopping mall. It is very easy to skip a class and give excuses, such as I was in the hospital, I made an accident, or I need to study for a final exam. After skipping a class, students go and take notes from other students who attended and class and copy them. However, this will affect them in their exams because they won’t get high grade as students who attend classes.
Failing is not an option for many people this means that they will do anything they can to get good grades and keep them there. For many people getting by is just fine and some just don’t care at all, normally collage is where people get weeded out. During this time in life most adults know the meaning of failing and what consequences it will have, number one being the loss of money for the class that must be taken a second time. However sometimes one might fail due to distractions or problems
The thesis of Class Dismissed is about how the working class people on television are portrayed. Many people wanted to be part of a particular social class. The programs in the Class Dismissed changed people’s perception of certain groups. For example, The Jefferson’s , is about how a black man grows his business and become successful. From watching the film I never thought how TV shows frames us. Now, as I think back to watching certain shows like The Cosby show, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The George Lopez, The Hughley’s, My Wife and Kids, and The Bernie Mac Show they all are working class people who are successful. However, Good times, is another show that I have watched, although Good times the family are still living in the projects,
There are different types of high school graduates in America: some seniors already know what they are aiming for the future and some others wish not to know, while several others care less about their future – even if they are going to graduate in a couple of days. Few from the ones who are planning to go to college are just going to figure out themselves. Why go to college when you are just trying to figure out yourselves? Why should you not just take a year off for that? Taking a year off to refresh the brain would really help the students to decide on their future life. The graduated high school students should not be forced to attend college because some students present financial problems, lack of motivation, and lack of interest.
Some professors in universities and some departments have very tight polices related with attendance. There are many universities and colleges in the world which doesn’t consider regular attendance in their grading part system. Sometime if the professor knows about the excessive number of times the student was absent they will mark the name of student and the final grade of that class is lowered. This topic is an issue of debate all over the world. Some people support this rule while other is against this rule. In this paper, I have presented many arguments in favor of strict attendance policy while some arguments are against the strict attendance policy. Students in college and universities are matured enough to take their own decision (Bastedo,
Teachers in college for the most part don't really care whether or not you are in class. All it means is that if you are not there, you are going to get a failing grade if it happens too often. Missing too many classes will cause the teacher to withdraw you from the class, resulting in a failing grade. If you do it the smart way you would withdraw from the class yourself because then it would have no negative effect on your overall G.P.A. In high school the teachers are always on you about attendance. If you miss too many days you can fail. If you are not in class they want to know why. They also want a note from your parents excusing you from class. Some schools even want your parents to call you in sick if you are not going to be there. If you do not have a note they can write you up for an unauthorized absence and, give you a detention.
There are plenty of well backed supports given towards the author's stance on this issue. The main consists of his argument being the fact that he is paying for a service rather than it being a requirement to show up like in public school. He explains that whether or not he is passing the class should be the only real thing that matters and not if he is actually showing up to the class. The overall intent of this essay mainly shows focus on trying to reach out to professors and persuade them into trying different types of policies rather than giving
One major threat students fear is failing behind on learning. Felling so lost and behind will make you fall behind even more, not just in class but in future classes as well. Failing behind will only lead a student to fail. Failing a class is not just a waste of time and money but mentally failing affects you and your self-esteem. With most classes a student can just take a withdrawal (W) and try again next semester; but with a linked class things are not as easy.
Teachers will not be interrupted in the middle of lecture for the most common reason, which the student couldn’t find parking, and students wouldn’t have to miss part of their lecture and fail the course for being late all the time, and if this being than the college would have more graduates by the end of each 2 years, sounds odd, but when thought about, if a student is constantly late for class most teachers take down points which affects the students grades, A lot goes on at the start of class and if a student misses that, then it also affects the grade. Anything that affects a grade can hold a student back a for year or may have them repeat the course, now this isn’t the main cause of students failing classes but tardiness is one of the causes that is preventable. According to Spencer Havlick and Will Toor in some colleges attendance is crucial, “Students must be in attendance at least eighty (80%) percent of the clock hours of a course to receive credit for the course. Those who do not meet minimum attendance requirements will be given the grade of “F”, which will be computed in the students’ grade point average as a failing grade (Havlick and Toor).” Being late to class one time is no big deal and not noticeable, but when it is constant than it becomes
While studying or even registering for a class presents a challenge to some college students, the greatest obstacle remains, going to class. Attending college is supposed to signify a new found freedom to make many important choices regarding education without high school mandatory attendance policies. However, students everywhere are coming to the staggering realization that college is not too different from high school. Teachers still take class roll and students are still expected to be at every class on time. What next, hall monitors in the hall? The time has come for action to be taken. Colleges must abolish mandatory student attendance policies for several reasons to be further discussed.
The word truancy means “Run away from classes” and the students who always tend to keep themselves away from studies and avoid attending classes are called truants (Gosain 2013). In another vein, Stoll, (2002) in Chukwuka, (2013) defines truancy as “absence from school for no legitimate reason”. Nwana, (2004) in Adekunle, (2015) added that truancy involves intentionally absenting of oneself from school without permission, leaving without authorization and dodging of specific lesson periods. Therefore, it is clear that in a situation where a student absent himself from school without any concrete reason and the parents are not aware about it can be regarded as truancy. Many perspectives on factors that make learners play
Some college students argue that they should not be punished for poor attendance since they are paying for these classes. Beside, attendance should not be mandatory, student is adults, and they should be able to make the decision to attend classes on their own. If someone wants to jeopardize their future by not attending classes, that’s their
Currently there are many students tried to go to college and finish their degree. But some students don’t know what they should do in college and how to avoid the failure in classes. The failure will happen if you have no real goal or plan to finish it.
The teacher must have autonomy to discern when we must make an exception, according to the criteria above, or can always contact us when in doubt. In the event of an exception, the teacher must not include the class imediately in the Progress Card, only after the replacement. In case of considering the class as taken, the teacher must write the class in the Progress Card filling with the scheduled date and time, and writing "cancelled" in the "next lesson" column. This class does not require the student's signature, not to cause discomfort, and even so will be accounted for payment to the
Mandatory attendance policy does not really enhance students' school performance as it's usually expected. Some teachers and schools believe students would study better if they come to class regularly. They argue that all lessons in text books should be explained, discussions should be held with full class. If students do not come to class, they would study nothing or make no progress. Some even think of students as lazy creatures who play truant to do everything they like but homework or assigned reading, so they take roll-call to ensure that all students come to class and work with them. What i can say is that attending class regularly does not mean you will have better understanding or performance. Some students sometimes miss class but they still study well. That's because there are some lessons they can study by themselves at home without spending too much time as those who study in class. On the other hand, so...
