Oh, how our teachers like to tell us that writing is so important. I used to not believe what they told us. However, after being in Mrs.Kigar’s Senior Composition class I learned that they are actually telling us the truth-writing is important! I’ve gained many new writing skills this year and realized many I already had. Additionally, I found some weaknesses in my writing and was able to improve upon them as well.
I have always thought that my writing was mediocre, even substandard at times. Due to my lack of confidence in my writing capabilities I found it boring to write; even fearful to write. My knowledge of vocabulary, punctuation, and grammar has all grown exceedingly. Learning such things has influenced me to write on my own more, and has made writing more enjoyable. I have learned the importance that writing has in lives. “Writing isn’t just for college papers. Our world is all about writing. Tweeting, posting, messaging, emailing, and all other forms of communication involve some form of writing. The better you get at it, the better you’ll be able to represent yourself on social media as a professional person whose words are worth reading.” (Ribeiro 2) I can’t say it any better than that quote right there, it is true writing can enrich all parts of your communicating life. Writing is in more aspects of your life than you think. If you want people to listen to what you have to say then learn how to convey your message. If you want a good following on instagram know the uses of voice and style. If you want the best job out there learn how to write a killer resume that will make them want to hire you on the spot. Your writing represents you, and your representation is so important. Next time your teacher says writing is important, you ought to believe
