Recommended: How does television violence influence teenagers

What is the best way to keep kids occupied? Many rely on a TV to entertain growing minds that need to flourish. Television for kids can be not only unsettling, but can harm children lasting a lifetime. Did you know that children ages 2-5 spend 32 hours a week in front of televisions, videos, and gaming consoles? I believe that The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy is inappropriate because of being plain disturbing, morally corrupt, and explicitly violent. First, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy is at least alarming because of its harsh humor mainly based on pain, suffering, and its other vulgar themes. An example of this is that in most episodes, the main characters or reoccurring ones fail to keep their body parts intact. In the …show more content…

To explain, it condones individuals hurting others without any consequences or conscious. For instance, the two young children, Billy and Mandy, should be learning morals, and to think of others feelings instead of being egocentric. Instead of doing this, they are prancing around with Grim who is fundamentally the children’s slave. To sum up, this TV series does the opposite of what a parent does, which is teaching a child morals and manners. Lastly, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy is blatantly violent, which I believe is not something children need to be watching. A main concern for violence on TV shows is that it can not only desensitize anyone to victims of such crimes, it can teach children of aggressive attitudes and behaviors. The American Psychology Association states that this violence is often glamorized, which can teach children that their actions of violence are justified. For this reason children may not suffer remorse or penalty for their actions caused from a favorite tv series. An example of this violence would be that in almost every episode as mentioned previously, characters wind up deceased or with major bodily harm and this is portrayed as humor. To sum up this TV show is obsessively violent and can cause long-lasting harm to anyone involved and I advise not allowing your kids or any kids to watch
