I have always been very fascinated by the medical field and sonography in particular, as I love helping people and improving the lives of the people around me. Since I am a first-generation college student living in a small town, such big dreams scared me at first. However, as I have progressed through my academic journey, I have realized I can do extremely hard things if I focus my effort and dedication on them. I have completed and am actively partaking in difficult courses, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, AP Calculus, AP United States History, dual credit English Composition 101 and 102, and more. Although I know this journey won’t be easy, I know it will be possible through the support of my family, friends, and community. I have been extremely fortunate to have a caring and supportive community that has pushed me throughout my high school career to be a better person and approach every struggle with full force. If I were granted the Foundation scholarships, I would make a promise to utilize the money in a way that would help not only myself and my college education, but my community as well. Receiving this money would allow me to focus on my education while attending Carl Sandburg College. Since I will be paying most of my tuition from a part-time, low-paying job, extra financial assistance will be extremely helpful, as I will be able to focus on my studies rather than worrying about how I plan to pay for my next class.
