Good Morning, You know how they always say take that chance, send that email. Well, they might not really say that, but I read an Instagram post along those lines the other day. So there it goes. I have been working professionally as a Creative Services Coordinator for a dance costume company, Costume Gallery & Art Stone, for the past two years. I run social media, manage photo shoots and handle everything marketing related. Before my current position, I have multiple internships in the marketing, public relations, and advertising world. Simultaneously, I have been performing as a dancer in the professional sports industry- both NBA and NFL. My life has been a performance. Dancing for 22 years, lucky enough to dance professionally and even luckier to work in the industry that defines who I am as a person. But with my 26th birthday around the corner, I’ve started to question my path in life. …show more content…
I wrote for my high school paper and was the News Editor for two years. I helped behind the scenes for the high school television station and looking back it was a passion I wish I followed. But, it’s difficult to follow every dream. By the time college rolled around I was focused on dance. I took a few broadcast classes here and there but kept my focus in public relations, journalism, and marketing. Once I got into the real world I started to notice that the passion I had for broadcast media was still there, but I had no idea where to start. Watching Molly Sullivan from the sidelines as I waited to dance for the Philadelphia 76ers. Watching Samantha Ponder on ESPN. Watching you host in the morning while I got ready fro work. I said to myself, that’s it, that is what I want to do. But at 26 is it too late to start? My biggest fear in life is wasted potential. Not finding my passion. Being average. In 2017 you can be whoever you want. So why not send this email and help myself figure out who I want to
I became a nurse in 1992. I had graduated high school in 1989 and discovered that I lacked a vision of the profession I would be involved in over the course of my adult life. I was involved in the pursuit of a career of teaching music to high school children based upon a passion for performing arts as a teen aged student. I discovered that I enjoyed performing as a trumpet player, but I did not trul...
I've always wanted to be an actor. I've always liked performing. We used to live in Alberta, and I didn't have much opportunity there. But we moved here {Vancouver, BC}, and I got an agent, and here I am.
what I wanted to become. So after graduation I decided to explore my options at
I want to be sportscaster when I grow up because I would like to discuss events with proffesionals. I also couldn’t see myself in life without being connected to sports. Also it seems really cool to be a sportscaster at ESPN because it looks like a cool place to work there.
Every time I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always had different answers. An author, a photographer, even a video game tester. I've juggled lots of different careers, and yet I still don't seem to know which one I really want to do. When I was younger I always loved to write. Fiction was my favorite genre, especially when it comes to dystopian worlds. I always joked with my friends and family that after I become an author and "make millions off my first book", I'd be able to buy them whatever they desired. After I got a bit older though, writing just wasn't my top priority anymore, I lost interest in it sadly. Don't get me wrong I still like it, I'm just never in the mood to write anymore. So, being an author was crossed
James P. Spradley (1979) described the insider approach to understanding culture as "a quiet revolution" among the social sciences (p. iii). Cultural anthropologists, however, have long emphasized the importance of the ethnographic method, an approach to understanding a different culture through participation, observation, the use of key informants, and interviews. Cultural anthropologists have employed the ethnographic method in an attempt to surmount several formidable cultural questions: How can one understand another's culture? How can culture be qualitatively and quantitatively assessed? What aspects of a culture make it unique and which connect it to other cultures? If ethnographies can provide answers to these difficult questions, then Spradley has correctly identified this method as revolutionary.
2)Ginsberg and Super’s Theories of Career Development assert that there are several predictive stages of career development, based moreover on the developmental stages of life. Under this theory, as a child I was in the fantasy period; I saw myself becoming a famous model/dancer/actress or presti...
My life's path reflects my passion in a very direct way. Ever since I was young I had always believed in doing what I enjoy and being myself. I think that doing so will lead me to happiness, especially in finding a career. To me, not doing what you love every day of your life is no way to live. Your career should directly reflect your passions, as it will even help your performance while on the job. My goal to become an attorney is a direct reflection of my own passion. Ever since I was a kid, I had enjoyed playing video games. I always like exploring the world within the game, and making progress within that world. It was through this interest that I was introduced to a game called "Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney." In this game,
Hello, Shannen, It was awesome to read about your passion for the art of cinematography/photography! I have recently started to practice photography myself and was wondering how the experience has been for you? How did you come across photography as an interest? Also, I attempted to guess the degree you are studying that requires mathematics but couldn't think of an answer, so, I have to ask what are you studying?
As I reflect and look at my career journey, I realize that I have not really had a career journey. I have held a few jobs; however, I have not had a job I would consider my career yet. Furthermore, I only worked for a couple of months in each of the jobs I had in the past. Currently, I do not have a job yet, and I realize that I am now 24 years of age and should be starting my way to my career. However, I have not looked into jobs in my career field because I feel as though I am not ready yet to start working in my field.
What experience that convinced me that it has been my underlying passion all along? It all began during the last days of my senior year in highschool. At that time, I was naive of what courses to choose in college; I became negligent.
Nothing gives me more satisfaction than public speaking. I have been involved in communications events most of my life. At age eight I realized that I belonged in front of an audience. I started giving demonstrations and speeches in local county 4-H competitions until I was eligible to participate in state competitions. I won every state competition that I entered.
Culture is an important concept in anthropology. Culture is defined as, "sets of learned behavior and ideas that human beings acquire as members of society. Human beings use culture to adapt to and transform the world in which they live." (LS:512). Culture has been used in anthropology to understand human difference, but within this understanding there have been benefits and drawbacks to the ideas of culture. Finally, the study of language and humans as symbol using creatures helps us have perspectives on different parts of the world. All anthropologists share a certain reliance on culture to have a starting point in understanding human experience as a whole.
Like everyone who studies journalism, I wanted to win a Pulitzer for investigative journalism, but I had to pay my bills so I took a job as a book editor.” A lot of people start of thinking that when they study journalism they are going to become famous and rich, but then they find out that it´s not that easy and take jobs on the side that end up being their long
Most of my life has been focused on my career. I never really thought about my life outside of high school until my junior year. It was not until this year that I realized all the things that were involved with my career interests. Although I am very committed to my career choices. I have chosen to major in elementary education and minor in photography.
