Why Guns Should Stay Legal

Whether or not guns should be legal has been a big topic in the United States the past decade. There has been many arguments saying guns are the main cause of violence. There are also arguments saying that guns are people’s main protection against any kind of violence. I feel that guns should always be legal. To own a gun is a right. You can’t take someone’s right away. Guns make people feel safe from all the bad people that are in the world. How are you supposed to protect yourself and your family if someone breaks in your home and is trying to kill you? You grab your gun and you scare them off or you cause harm to them before they cause harm to you.
There are many people in the United States that say they do not need guns. They say guns are just a nuisance. Many people have never had to encounter a life threatening situation where they needed to protect themselves though. They take for granted never having to do that and always thinking that they are safe. I would like to see them try to protect themselves without guns when their life is on the line. If they were to become illegal I think that would cause an up rise in the United States. I feel like people would start to go crazy. Like when the 18th amendment prohibited the sale of alcohol in the United States, people went crazy. They were illegally transporting and selling alcohol across the United States. It caused a big ordeal across the country. I believe that if guns were to become illegal that’s how it would be. I feel like the crime rate would increase across the country. If all the law abiding citizens gave up their guns how would they protect themselves. The criminals would not give up their guns so they would just have free taking of whatever they wanted from people that do not have guns. I don’t exactly think the murder rate would go up but definitely armed robberies and small thefts in houses or gas
