In the United States, there is a famous saying to justify gun ownership “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” It is true that the person with the gun is the one who is doing the killing but the gun makes it easier to have a massacre. However guns are useful for police, security, and military so they could protect themselves and everyone around them. Americans are not obsessed with guns; the American people are tired that their 2nd amendment rights are being violated. Police violate the citizen right to bare arm and will detain them. The sell of guns are being banned in some states, which makes it harder for citizen to own a gun. When someone chooses to carry a knife for protection the law will try to violate his or her right.
They are people who like to show off their guns and will walk around the neighborhood to show that they own gun. But they are people who don’t like guns and will call the police and the police then violate the gun owner

rights. According to the article “Warning: Federal Court Rules that 2nd Amendment Right is Now a Reason for Cops to Detain You.” A man was walking around his neighborhood with his handgun singing a song. There was a woman who sees this man with his gun and call 911 because he was carrying a gun. But this guy knew his right and told the cops that he have the rights to carry a gun. The problem with this is that people cannot even walk outside of their house without their guns and express their 2nd amendment to carry their gun to protect themselves. As usual they are people who don’t like to have guns it could be because is too powerful, expensive, and it not their preference they would rather have a different choice of weapon.
Currently people who are practicing their second amendment would always face problem with the police where the police will abuse it power and cause harm to the victim. As an example the article “Freddie Gray’s Second Amendment rights were violated — where is the NRA” by (Tony Ortega) explained that Freddie Gray was improperly arrested for having a legal weapon where the police though it was an illegal weapon. “But by the end of his ride to jail, he’d suffered a severed spine, resulting in his death seven days later.” (Ortega) This is why American’s are tired of police violating their second amendment because it could cause them their life. And the weapon he had was a blade that was legal in the state of Maryland and it tucked in a safe place in his pocket and this weapon is not even a gun it was an good weapon that is not really
dangerous. Generally speaking banning guns in the city is a horrible idea because they are people who are gun collector or they are people who want to have a gun to protect their household from someone. For one thing in Chicago guns are banned due to crime rate and they think banning gun will lower crime rate but criminal will go to a black market and illegally purchase guns. Furthermore this act of the city banning the sells and transfer of guns it violating the people right to protect himself or herself from someone breaks in their house. If one city does this act of making guns illegal to be sell other city will also be copying this idea and people will fight for their amendment right. And crime will still rise because criminal don’t buy gun from the store they buy it from the black market and commit crime and crime wont stop because don’t need gun they could use a blade. In conclusion Americans are not obsessed with gun they’re just tired that the second amendment keeps getting violated by the government. In fact Americans are always getting in trouble for having their weapon of choice but soon all American will be able to walk freely with their weapon of choice without being bother by the government.
In"Get a Knife, Get a dog, but Get Rid of Gun," Molly Ivins argues on gun control laws and how guns should be banned or restricted to some people. In the essay she argues how knife is more safer than guns to use, because more likely people die from cleaning or using guns in wrong way. Author main purpose is to let people know guns is danger, and should be ban. She also points out the 2nd amendment and it says clearly that guns are for those who form part of a well-regulated militia, that is armed forced, including the National Guard. I agree with Ivins about the guns control, because guns is for special training people only, and private citizens shouldn't have gun, also we don’t need to hunt for food to survive and killing innocent animal just for fun.
Imagine... you are driving down the street to see your loving family. You stop at a gas station and a guy comes in. He has a bandana and bad intentions. All of a sudden, he loads a pistol and aims it towards you. What are your options? Try to visualize, a guy going to see his wife and kids, but when out of nowhere a person pulls you aside and then points a pistol at you. Over the course of years, ninety-three United States citizens are killed with guns. Due to these reasons, it seems it is necessary to get rid of guns because of the 21,175 suicides, 505 deaths due to accidental/ negligent discharge of a firearm. Guns should be banned for civilian use, due to too many deaths from unregistered users, misuse, and increased crime rate.
Because any confrontation may become fatal with weapons other than concealed handguns, the likeliness that these confrontations have daily deadly outcomes is low, so it is just as implausible that banning handguns will prevent these outcomes. Raven Clabough reports for the New American Magazine, “according to the FBI, more hammers, clubs, and other blunt objects are involved in murders than rifles or shotguns. In 2011, 323 murders were committed with a rifle and 356 with a shotgun, while a staggering 496 were committed with hammers and clubs…Also in 2011, 1,694 people were killed by ‘knives or cutting instruments,’ far more than rifles and shotguns combined,” (Clabough). If taking away American citizens’ right to bear arms, the government should also place a ban on hammers, clubs, and steak knives. These items accumulate more murders than the firearms did. This statement provided by the FBI proves that any confrontation can turn deadly using everyday household items that any person of any age or criminal background has access
Take a look at the history of our country and the role guns have played in it. According to the second amendment gun ownership is perfectly legal and guaranteed as a right. There were and are good reasons for this, luckily they are still practiced today. Back in the day guns used to be for hunting and, on the occasion self defense. But when the colonists of this country had enough of British rule, they picked up there own personal guns and went to war and the British saw first hand how powerful the rough band of average American gun owners were. Our forefathers knew that the general population if armed would be key in winning the war. And it was.
Molly Ivins argues against the common ownership of guns in America is pointless, and that it will only result in negative consequences. In her column, she argues against the common ownerships of guns in America by pointing out that the second amendment’s original intent does not configure with current forms of gun ownership. She argues there are several impracticalities that have evolved from the legal doctrines of gun ownership. She argues against the use of guns by offering substitutes to the reasons why people own guns in the first place. One of her biggest arguments for the substitution of guns is to use a knife instead, and she begins to explain why a knife can be a better fit for the reasons people typically like to own guns.
In America guns have been a major topic of controversy and have been at the forefront of many political debates. Our forefathers created the Second Amendment, which allows American citizens the right to bear arms. There are many who support the Second Amendment right to bear arms, but there are also many who oppose it. Those who support the Second Amendment often do so because it is their fundamental right granted to them by the United States Constitution. The Second Amendment allows citizens to have the ability to protect themselves and their property from outside adversaries. In contrast, there is almost not a single day in America where gun related violence is not reported in the news. This leads many to believe that guns are a key contributor to the increase in violent and deadly crimes. This has caused many to push for stricter
However, despite the United States being the number one country in gun ownership, it is number nineteen in gun related homicides rates.(Wikipedia) Even at number nineteen, there are still nearly 12,000 gun related crimes/homicides per year.(FBI) In Australia, Finland, and the UK, there are less than 40 gun related crimes/homicides. The solution to less crime now seems to lean towards banning guns. However when looking at the overall violent crime rate in the United States, the numbers are 367.9 violent crimes per 100,000 people.(FBI) The violent crime rate in America is also going down every year. However, the amount of guns in the United States goes up every year. The top 3 countries in violent crime rates are Australia, South Africa and the UK. All these countries have banned guns and nearly triple the violent crime found in the United States.(James Slack) So for a law abiding citizen, having the right to a gun might not be such a bad idea. If citizens have a right to protect themselves and the tools necessary to do so, crime rates actually seem to go down. Crime rates decreasing with the presence of the second amendment solidify that the right to bear arms is not outdated at all. Modern America enjoys the benefits of safer
Gun control is one of the biggest debates that America is currently facing today. The reason why this topic concerns many Americans is because of the crime that is related from it. FBI data shows approximately 70,975 homicides were committed in America from 2006 to 2010 from various different types of firearms (Wenzel, 2012). That 's 14,195 on average per year homicides from firearms. Only 9,075 came from knives and other sharp objects, which equate to about 1815 homicide a year. Firearms are the number one tool being used in America for homicides. But even bigger than this, suicide rates reached over 19,000 casualties in 2010 from firearms. Firearms have a 90 percent success rate compared to poison, which is only 30 percent (Center for Disease
Guns have been the weapon of choice for some of the most brutal massacres on America soil. Since early history guns have been used mainly for militia and defense purposes. But, the development of new gun technology has made firearms more accessible and deadly. Although the second amendment gives the right to bear arms, guns should be controlled and monitored by the government because guns have contributed to a lot of killings in America and will increase crime rates.
Some Americans are convinced that more federal regulation of firearms is necessary to reduce the number of murders that are committed with guns and to ensure a safer, more civilized society. Others who support private ownership of guns insist that the right to bear arms is guaranteed by longstanding custom and by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and that no cyclical increase in crime, no mass killing, nor any political murders should lead the nation to violate the Constitution and the individual rights it guarantees. What’s more, they say, knives and other instruments are used to kill people, and there is no talk of regulating or banning them.
In today’s world violence and crime are everywhere. Crime is particularly bad in the United States. All these different crimes like robberies, assaults, school shootings, murders need to be slowed down and these are not the only crimes being committed. There are many different ways to try and deter crime. One of these ways is having a concealed carry license.
According to Amanda Marcotte at the Rolling Stone news (2015), “A murderer can often kill one person or two with a knife before being stopped. But to really rack up those mind blowing death counts_ to make that many lives are destroyed and families ruined in the space of five or 10 minutes- you need a gun.” This quote is saying you can use a knife to kill, but guns are more effective in many people. Marcotte also states that, “ The sheer amount of damage a gun can do is reason to limit who can get their hands on one.” (Marcotte, 2015)
America is a freedom country that has people from all over the world have come and lived. In America, the safety of people is the most important concern of government, and Americans are encouraged to be able to protect themselves from dangerous situations. As a result of that, Americans have right to possess guns so that they can protect themselves from dangerous situations. However, besides the reason that people with guns can protect themselves from dangerous situations, researches have showed that more than 30,000 people are killed every year and more than 30 people are murdered everyday by guns in America. Although there are many people think that it is necessary to own gun, there are a lot of benefits when guns are restricted to own except police and security. The three main benefits are reducing homicides, reducing the ability of suicide, and reducing deaths from gun related crimes.
The key issue of gun control has been a significant topic as it affects the relative incentive of criminals and law-abiding citizens in gun acquisition. This means any control taken by the federal government or state or local government to regulate through legislation the sale, purchase, safety and use of firearms by individual citizens. Most people could argue out the intention for self-defense vis-a-vis the deterrence of risks involved with possession of a firearm. Ownership of guns should be banned in the US Foremost, all guns have the potential to be dangerous and should be dealt with precaution. Guns control should therefore be of paramount importance in the USA.
Do you think that guns should be banned? The argument that we will be discussing today is should guns be banned or not. I do not think that guns should be banned because many people use them for protection, and they also use them for hunting and for fun. There are many ways and reasons to use guns, and many people use them all the time. There are many reasons why guns should not be banned.
