Parents have a
Sports help them stay in shape because, the Aspen Institute, a nonprofit organization that does humanistic studies, said, “Exercise is one of the least expensive ways to stay healthy, with one study finding that exercise can prevent chronic diseases as effectively as medication,” (Aspen Institute). One of the many benefits of playing sports is that the children will build character. Building character is important because with character they will make new friends and develop different skills. Playing sports at a young age can build character in many ways, “Playing sports at a young age enables children to participate in social interactions and build skills such as teamwork, leadership, and responsibility as they learn to work with others to achieve a common goal,” (Aspen Institute).
Involving your child in sports is important part of growing up. There are several benefits to children playing sports. The child will learn how to make friends outside of school, church, and family. It will help develop self-esteem and physical skills. They discover what it means to be a member of a team, and how to win and lose with self-respect. Children also need to be active every day; exercise promotes growth and improves physical and emotional health. The Office of the Surgeon General states that active children are at less risk to high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease as well as many cancers (Office of the Surgeon General, January 11, 2007).
They behave better and create better relationships. One piece of textual evidence is, " Students who are intensely involved in sports are less likely to abuse drugs or alcohol or join gangs, have a later onset of sexual activity, and do better in school and form good peer relationships. " Parents often discourage these actions but kids do them anyway. Being involved in sports keeps them from doing them because they don't want to get
Girls on the other hand shun such activities. There has been a link between media coverage and the indulgence of girls in sporting activities in schools. This is primarily because television and other media show sports as a preserve of men.... ... middle of paper ... ...
Why should women be able to be on boys sports teams? I feel this topic is very important in our society. Society should be for females playing male sports because they have our equal rights. I feel that men and women can have the same sports for many reasons, everyone's equal rights, the fact that women aren't all structured the same; There is a danger in playing with boys. Everyone's body structure can be used as and for different things in various different sports. Is changing sports for girls really fair?
Such as football, women don’t have a football team. Or wrestling girls don’t have their own wrestling team. Many girls had to join a boys football or wrestling team so that they get the chance to play a sport that the enjoy. There has also been a time when a girl didn’t want to play softball but wanted to play baseball. But the only way to play baseball was to be on a boys team.
Is this the world of females in sports? I think, in a world of sports, a woman should be allowed to play professional sports with men if she chooses to. Women that want to play sports might have a better chance, just because they are girls does not mean anything in terms of their ability to play. I feel that women should play sports because they can have a better chance at a college education. Female athletes receive more scholarships than men because they are smarter than men. Women have an advantage in competitions with other countries. Some women may have more strength than men do. Women can earn more scholarships than men. Women might like that sport, and they might have the strength and speed to play that sport.
Many people choose to exercise at the gym, at home, or they participate in a sport. Research shows, “playing sports is the best physical activity that helps to improve the functional capabilities of body” (“Physical Activity for a Healthy Weight”). Playing sports, especially softball is beneficial to a person’s health, as shown by achieving better grades, maintaining healthy weight, building up self-esteem, and most importantly learning how to work together with others. Softball is “a sport similar to baseball played on a small diamond with a ball that is larger than a baseball and that is pitched underhand” (“Softball”). These benefits allow teenagers and adults to find out who they are and to use the strengths they learn from softball in the rest of their lives.
In the world of sports it started off that girls could never play sports and then in 1972 a public law called Title IX came to existence which allowed girls to play sports but not with boys. Today the question is asked should girls play on boys’ sports teams? One would think that girls should not play with boys on a sports team because boys are just naturally taller and stronger than women and they would dominate the girls in a fully contact sport. Another may think that if a girl is truly capable to play on an all boys’ sports team, then she should not be denied the opportunity to try out for an all boys’ team. Some other people may believe that sports at younger ages should remain co-ed because boys and girls body types are still similar, but once boys and girls are in high school sports should separate based on gender. Females and Males are equal but not in physical stature, having a girl on an all boys team will negatively change the dynamics/flow of a game, having the best girl player on an all boy’s team will hurt the girls’ sports teams. So sports should strictly stay separated between males and females.
Another issue of women in sports was the health risk to the women who compete. The recommendations of the scientists state that involvement in sports and other such physical activity reduces the likelihood of developing a number of life-threatening health conditions. Involvement in cooperative and competitive activities can improve a woman’s social outlook, sense of competence and emotional control.
In the end, a lot of guys always think that because girls are who they are they shouldn't play a guys game, but we're not letting that happen. This essay will explain several reasons why girls should not be excluded from any sports. In the beginning, I know girls should not be excluded because girls can do whatever guys can do, It's not fair for girls to be excluded. Black people and girls had to make their own team because they couldn't be on a white team.
Few girls are really interested in athletic events. This is a false statement, because many girls are excited by athletic events for different reasons. Some girls enjoy sporting events because it provides an opportunity to spend time with friends. Others may like sporting events because they admire a certain player. However, athletic events branch out into multiple categories. Some ladies use athletic events as a way to stay in shape. A few may do so for a cause; like running for breast cancer
At some point students has had trouble either at home or at school and need to release stress or tension. Some of these times the teens choose to do activities that are wrong. Youth want to feel comfort and accepted, therefore they sometimes will do events that are not well for their body just to fit in with a group. There is evidence that proves sports can reduce the likeliness of teens committing crimes, or getting into trouble. Tees look at the negative substances such as drugs, alcohol, or tobacco, and think that they can do whatever they want. Many teens look at these activities and think they are “exciting” or “cool” and want to try them, but if they are busy with sports they most likely will not be as easily influenced. Participation in sports helps keep teens out of trouble by taking up their free time which could be used for mischief, gives them an opportunity to meet new friends for positive role models, provides teens an outlet to develop a higher self-esteem, and also enables student to set goals for on and off the field.
