Cheaters Have a Tougher Time Moving On
Trust is the biggest factor in a relationship. When that bond is broken in any way, it is hard to earn it back. Some people feel the urge to cheat on one another when they are in a committed relationship. The reasons for cheating can vary, but it most likely is because the person is lonely, or doesn’t feel connected enough with their spouse. The cheater themselves will have a longer lasting effect because of what they did. More often than not, they feel remorse and the guilt eventually catches up to them. The person who was cheated on will feel awful and wonder how they will ever get passed it. Except they have a strong support system behind them and day-by-day they learn to grow and move on. There are some things that you wished should have happened or would have happened. Even though the sympathy goes out for the one who was betrayed, the cheater grows to have a deep regret for his or her actions. They most likely won’t be able to function and they will only want peace with the one person they hurt the most. According to relationship expert Charles J. Orlando, the cheater tends to despise themselves after their actions. He explains that the cheater can feel less of a person and it takes a toll on his psyche knowing that he cheated on somebody that he had once cared so much for. Most of the time when people do result to cheating it is because they are still in love with their spouse, but they are also expressing themselves when they commit this action. Often times the relationship ending will lead to the cheater wondering what could have been. They will lose friends close to them and they people will grow to distrust a cheater because of the result of the actions portrayed. Although they will feel tremendous regret, it is also hard to gain the trust back of friends as well as …show more content…
Although they say, “it will never happen again,” most of the time they are likely to cheat again if they have once already. According to Latoya Newman, the chances of a couple getting back together depend on how big the error was and how far along the relationship was. Some people may try to get even with their partner by going as far as cheating as well. The result of this usually terminates the relationship all together. This can be unfortunate because the individuals most likely still love each other but just want to get even. According to a Rutgers University study, 56% percent of males who had cheated had said they had a happy marital status. As a result, a relationship doesn’t have to be falling apart for somebody to cheat. Women or men who cheat haven’t necessarily fallen out of love with their significant other, but more likely not satisfied with the current state it is in. The cheater could want a change or a different feel for something, but this leads to regret and a loss in
...ouses back and get involved with another person. There is not a good enough reason for someone to cheat on his or her spouse under any circumstance. If they want to, then they need to end the relationship first. Or else, they just need to try to make the relationship work as it is.
In short story “The Cheater’s Guide to Love,” written by Junot Diaz, we observe infidelity and the negative effects it has on relationships. Anyone who cheats will eventually get caught and will have to deal with the consequences. People tend to overlook the fact that most relationships are unlikely to survive after infidelity. Trust becomes an issue after someone has been unfaithful. Yunior, the main character in this story, encounters conflict as he struggles to move on with his life after his fiancée discovers that he has been unfaithful. Over a six-year period, the author reveals how his unfaithfulness has an effect on his health and his relationships.
A betrayal by someone who you trust emotionally impacts you in a variety of ways. Sinclair Ross’ short story The Painted Door prominently shows the reasons of why a person would choose to betray their partner. The story is set in an isolated farmhouse in the prairies where a married couple, named Ann and John lives. After John’s trip to his father’s house he arrives back home and sees that Ann has been unfaithful. Although people know the effects of betrayal they still carry out this act. The main reason that people betray loved ones is due to the fact humans yearn for companionship, crave the thrill of new experiences and desire change to keep them fulfilled.
...me again. The deserted or betrayed party will always look upon their spouse differently, thinking and fearing that they will be betrayed again, or left, with no warning. Hurt and pain will be a constant companion, and they will find themselves always questioning their partner’s motives and actions. Perhaps trust is damaged or even destroyed.
did cheat. This article discusses how infidelity is popular in both men and women no
The worst part about betrayal is that most people never even find out that they have been betrayed. A man could go on vacation, cheat on his wife, return home, and she would never find out. Cheaters and other traitors often tend to have the mindset of “I never lied, you just didn’t ask.” Another popular phrase is “It’s not illegal if you don’t get
When engaging in an affair with someone other than your partner, most people find in the end that the affair is not worth it. If a person is having an affair because they are no longer in love with their companion, it will be easier to break all ties with a loved one instead of being unfaithful. If the affair is out of lust, perhaps resisting the temptation and concentrating on trying to revive the romance at home is a solution.
Being cheated on can be traumatizing and possibly the worst thing that has ever happened to you. After you find out that your partner has been cheating on you your instinct may be to run. Making a rash decision is not the answer. According to The New Monogamy, by Tammy Nelson, there are three stages a couple in this crisis will go through after the discovery of an affair. First is the crisis stage, then the understanding stage, and lastly the vision stage.
Cheating can cause a mental breakdown. It affects how the person feels about themself, as they start to believe that they are not good enough because you went out to find what he or she couldn’t give you. It can make your partner have suicidal thoughts because pain may differ from person to person. Not everyone might respond the same way to an unfaithful partner. For Example, A married woman expects her husband to be loyal and a married man expects the same because the moment they said “Yes I do”, they made a commitment to be together and not let temptation bring them
... Imagine how difficult it would be to trust one’s spouse again. It would be like starting all over. Many believe that “once a cheat always a cheat”, people who have several affairs have a higher divorce rate (figure 7). One would have to put forth time, and effort to restore something that they did not destroy. All of the years of marriage, all that was shared and considered sacred is gone. How can one be expected to believe that the affair was an isolated incident that never took place earlier on in the marriage? It is with all of these doubts and unanswered questions that it becomes evident that adultery destroys marriages and therefore marriage cannot survive infidelity. Infidelity not only destroys marriages, it also destroys families. Children turn away from their mothers or fathers, and it is at that point that the marriage should be considered null and void. The possibility of a marriage being able to survive infidelity is far fetched. Therefore, the answer to the question: ‘can marriage survive infidelity’ is evident.

There are several types of effects that can happen in relationships once someone in the relationship is caught in the act. People define these in different ways. Some focus and feel more of the physical effects on a relationship, others more of the physiological or emotions they feel. With the physical signs, it’s more with how the relationship is afterward, and not as focused around the emotions both feel. For instance, when one is caught cheating, many things change. Yes, breaking up generally takes place, but what happens between the breakup or divorce is possibly living separately, and practically preparing for living by themselves once again. This effect is not the prime factor people think about after cheating takes place in their relationship, it is the physiological, or emotional feelings they receive. An article titled “The Effects of Cheating” by Stacy Lucas, goes in depth into the distinct effects people say they feel after either being caught or catching their loved one cheating. Summing up her article, she goes in depth with the grieving process. The grieving process, Shock, Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance, which according to Lucas, is what many people feel after cheating takes place in their relationship. She mainly expresses her opinion on “feeling like you failed”, going on to say “From their actions you feel like a failure,
To begin, one of the leading causes of divorce is infidelity. Infidelity happens when the husband or wife decides to replace their spouse with another one secretly. In other words it is known as cheating. The reason for this is that after the spouse discovers that his or her partner is cheating, the spouse feels that he or she cannot trust the partner ever again. As the partner finds about this infidelity, he or she would definitely get these mixed and negative emotions, which are often the reason for a divorce (Meyer, n.d.). One of the emotions that the person feels is anger. A person would certainly get angry after finding out about the affair because it is considered as a violation of the vows that they took when they first got married and as damage to the marriage and relationship (Meyer, n.d.). Another emotion felt by the spouse is denial and rejection. A person feels that he or she is no longer wanted and are rejected when they discover that another replaced them (Meyer, n.d.)....
First of all, cheating is not an option; it’s a choice that a lot of people choose. A person tends to cheat when they are not contented with their girlfriend or boyfriend. With this issue, some people prefer to date two guys or girls at the same time especially if one of you and your partner lives in a different place. For example, in my case, I was in a relationship before and it happens that B (code name) lives 3,736 miles away from me. As a result, I was tempted to date another guy because I couldn’t do what other couples do with B in person such as hug, hold his hand, kiss him whenever I want, and etc. B didn’t know about it and I felt really heinous. Few weeks later I was forced to choose between B and the other guy because I realize that it’s not fair for them and they don’t deserve it. I feel so shamed about myself for making that mistake. If I could only turn back the time I would not do what I did. Admit it, we can’...
