Imagine answering a couple of questions correctly is crucial to the rest of your life, but you don’t know the right answers. You start to despair because you’re about to bomb this test and flunk out of the class you’re taking. It’s not completely your fault though. Maybe you had a rough couple of days prior to the test, or maybe you did study and you still do not know what to do. You look over and see a beam of light shining down upon your classmates uncovered answer sheet. Are you passing up on this opportunity to pass?
Although cheating is technically wrong, people should consider their conception of morality because in the right context cheating is justified. Although choosing to copy a classmates answers in the example is morally wrong, it is still justified. Not only that, but also necessary. Because of certain problematic and uncontrollable situations in your life, you were unable to properly study for your test. Now say despite that you still tried to study but due to a lack of teaching you could not comprehend the material. Depending on what you want to do in life, whether it be becoming a doctor or just graduating high school, grades will either make or break you. This demanding situation, combined with the copious amounts of assignments, and your own personal issues, can make life all the more stressful. One could argue that choosing to copy someone's homework assignment means that a lazy student is going to receive an unfair grade over material they don’t know, but it could also mean that the student knows the material and is choosing to save themselves time.
