Bobby Unser once said, “Success is where preparation and opportunity meet.” Everyone invisions themselves being successful, but not everyone takes advantage of the opportunities handed to them to prepare themselves for success. Granting me an opportunity to take part in Chesterfield County’s Career and Technical Center would the foundation for fulfilling my ambition of becoming an Orthodontist. Given the chance to take the Dental Occupation course at Chesterfield County’s Career and Technical Center, would be essential in furthering my opportunity into becoming an orthodontist in the near future. I have been interested in engaging in this dental program for several years now. I have heard from numerous people that taking this rigorous program has opened many doors for them. Especially the second year of the program, in which only selected students are chosen to go perform the skills they have been taught on actual patients at a dental office. Several have told me that having the chance to work on patients has given them more experience with how to interact and better their communication with patients and see how the dentist field works on a daily basis. …show more content…
Being able to learn in great detail about every particular component that makes up our mouth, and then given an opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge at a Dentist Office is quite something I hope to be able to undertake.
I became interested in the dentist field when I myself had braces. Watching them place the brackets on teeth, make molds, and insert colorful rubbers in between the brackets was something I became curious to see. I’m also interested in becoming a pediatric dentist because how much I cherish kids. I plan to take on a career in which I can be involved with children and have considerable skill to alleviate them in some
way. I am the eldest child in my family, and will be the first to hopefully attend college. What motivates me to attend college and get a prominent career is my parents. They expect highly of me. Being able to acquire a career in which could help me maintain them as they begin to age is something I am aiming towards. In countless situations, my parents have had to sacrifice their time and money for my sisters and I to attend college and obtain a career in which we are intelligent and skillful in. I consider myself to have strong communication and management skills because of my job. I work as a waiter and hostess at a nearby Italian restaurant, and being able to communicate with customers and managing the restaurant is a hassle, but something I can get done. Writing down carry-out orders on the phone and in person, sitting customers who are dining in at a table, customers coming to pay, and preparing the food all at once is overwhelming but manageable at this point. I have been working for almost a year and I assume I have acquired those skills by now of communication, management and also responsibility. I anticipate the challenges this program requires their students to undertake once in the program. I completely understand that this dental program expects highly of their students and I am up for the task. I have been able to maintain my academic skills high, while maintaining an after school job, and being on a soccer team for the Chesterfield Strikers. The willingness to follow this program’s regulations is something I look forward to and hope to be able to demonstrate next year.
The career path that I want to pursue is in the medical field. I major in psychology and minor in biology because going to medical school has always been my desire. Being a pediatrician is my goal I wish to conquer. I am beyond interested and passionate about this career. It is not just a career, it is my life dreams. I want to be able to enjoy going to work every day knowing I love my job and I am here because I want to. Being a pediatrician I am able to work with children and many people of different cultures. I am thrilled to know that I will be capable of caring for sick children.
We have all had those dentist or orthodontist appointments that were a complete nightmare. Getting poked, jabbed, and pinched in the mouth. Well, I have been thinking since I have had this experience and wouldn’t want anyone else to go through that. Maybe I could become an orthodontist and ensure to my patients that these problems do not happen. I enjoy helping people that I don’t know and being as precise as I need to be, to be an orthodontist. Though I have never had any experience at all with any of this, that is what school is for. I realize that being an orthodontist is the best career choice for me.
What I am looking for in my career as a dentist is embodied in the National Health Service Corps’ (NHSC) mission to serve the community through unification between healthcare providers and patients within the community. It’s uplifting to know that the NHSC Scholarship Program exists to promote awareness about the underserved population. I believe the NHSC Scholarship Program serves as the perfect platform upon which to start my career and will steer me in the right direction in fulfilling my career goals. I look forward to making use of all the valuable tools that NHSC provides, including resources and experience, so I can learn how to best ...
Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry which involves the prevention and correction of irregularities in the teeth. The ones who practice orthodontics and specialize the field are called orthodontists. An orthodontist has specialized and in depth knowledge about the human teeth and jaws. Providing treatment for people who have problems associated with their teeth and jaws has been their goal. The treatment provided will be varied from person to person depending on their ailment. The orthodontists make sure that our teeth and jaws are in good condition.
I can remember coming to school and hearing all my classmates talk about how much they hated going to the dentist. Going to the dentist was one thing that I have always loved to do. The sound of the tools and just the smell of the clinic was never a bad atmosphere to me, I actually enjoy the dentist. Laura was my first dental hygienist from as far back as I can remember, and she had the whitest teeth I have ever seen! I have honestly came to the conclusion that I am obsessed with teeth. With this being said, I have always felt and known that I wanted to be a dental hygienist. I am currently in my first year here at Community College getting my preq for dental hygiene. I always get the question, “Why would you want to look in somebody’s mouth all day?” After I hear this question and then I start thinking to myself. I want to be a dental hygienist because first of all someone has got to do it and secondly, I think smiles light up rooms and if I can help get more smiles in this world then that is what I am going to do. With seeking my career in dental hygiene I have great hopes of being able to help people understand and find compassion in caring for their teeth and inspiring them as Laura inspired me.
I plan on applying to the dental program in 2019. I really appreciate the degree plan being that it does not require a great deal of math. My intention is to move to Arizona or Colorado and practice Dental hygiene in rural and disadvantaged communities due to them having a higher rate of periodontal diseases as a result of the lack of dentist and hygienists.
Imperative 3 – The strengthening of the career services identity with the institution. The career services depart was very small! I do not feel it was advertised enough around campus to what services were offered. I learned of the career center by the recommendation of someone that did not attend the university. They had advised they visited their career center and urged me to do the same.
Dental schools often look for new students with a high GPA, excellent recommendations, and a high score on the Dental Acceptance Test taken in junior year of college. Dental school provides class courses such as anatomy, microbiology, biochemistry, physiology, clinical sciences, and laboratory techniques. When taking these courses, students learn local anesthesia, periodontology, or they learn the study of oral disease, health, and radiology. The first two years of dental school are typically dedicated to learning the pri...
I want to be a dental assistant focusing on orthodontia. Usually when I go to the orthodontist I don't see the doctor first I see the assistant. After the assistant takes off my rubber bands the doctor usually comes over and tells the assistant what to do to my braces. Usually the assistant changes wires, rubber bands, tightens wires, and just about everything else. I choose this career because I want to change people's lives and how they look at themselves when they smile. Teeth are one of the main points of self confidence. Before I can become a dental assistant I have to go to a trade school. Then I can go find an office to work at to start my career.
I am currently studying at CFCC to get into the Dental Assisting program. Upon graduating, I would like to acquire a job at an orthodontists office. The employment for this occupation is actually expected to grow much faster than average; between 2008 and 2018, employment is expected to grow 36 percent. The job demand in the Cape Fear area seems to be fairly higher than other areas in North Carolina, and higher than some other states as well.

I chose to become a dentist as being a child I had to visit a dentist many times for correction of malaligned teeth that i had. So my dentist who was also a specialist in the field of orthodontics inspired me deeply as it gave me a vague idea of how can i also bring smile and self confidence back to an individual by providing him with a competent smile again by incorporating the blend of my hand creativity and mental alertness, same as my dentist did for me thus returning me my self esteem and the confidence to smile again .Thus i found this field very satisfying and fulfilling.
In the future, I hope to pursue my career dream of becoming a pediatrician. Pediatricians can be identified individuals who specialize in giving medical care to children and adolescents between infancy to adulthood at eighteen years of age. I became inspired to become a pediatrician due to my immense love of children. Perhaps I have an innate intuition for taking care of people being that I have always felt that I excel at taking care of others. The idea of taking care of others truly makes me feel that I serve a purpose, not only to better the life of myself but the life of others. Therefore, I believe that becoming a pediatrician will help me combine the best of both worlds into a career that I adore and cherish.
a) For many years now I have aspired to be a Pediatrician. My mother is a radiologist technologist so I’ve grown up around the medical field. From an early age, medicine and science struck my interest and they are both subjects I am very passionate about learning. I love helping people, especially kids, which is why I have chosen to pursue this career field. I truly want to make a difference in modern medicine and become the best health care provider I can be.
If a patient really needs something and is committed but can’t afford it, there is always other ways to solve the issue. Orthodontic treatment is expensive but it is so worth it. There are many programs that will most likely give a patient free treatment, if the patient qualifies for dental insurance it provides the patient with many other options that can help the patient pay for orthodontic care. A most common payment method that is usually used is the monthly plan, splitting the cost will always help someone on a budget. According to Huddleston, “...check with your employer to see if dental insurance is available to you and what sort of coverage it will provide for orthodontic care… Get estimates from more than one orthodontist because you
