Born Bad? Are people born bad? Many factors decide can why people are bad, but no one can just be born bad. For example, when someone is born the first concern that influences the child is the parents. As the child grows up, even more influential events come into play such as friends, society, and how their life is at home. Others think people are destined to be bad because scientists believe that they have located genes that are responsible for rage and violence. Today that question will be answered. Are people undoubtedly born bad? A great deal of people try to blame the children's parents, friends, and society on why the child is awful, but no one can ever look at a child when they are first born and say, “That child is bad.” (Goldhill 1) They cannot do that simply because there is no proof of how that child will turn out when the child grows up. The influence can either be good or bad The child pays close attention to the parents and as it grows up and it models itself after them. If the parents are always stressed out, then the kid will always be stressed out. If the parents are always mad and angry at each other, then the kid will be mad and angry towards others. There are some benefits of parents arguing. The child can see how conflicts are resolved and apply that knowledge later on in life. In some cases the parents can raise the children in a loving and caring home and the child will still turn out awful. For example, Gloria Harding raised her son named Bobby in a perfect home where he was the perfect child, but grew up as an uncontrollable teenager. His older sister is a responsible mother while Bobby is out of control. There are many causes on why a child or teenager may misbehave. There could be issues at home, with family, other kids, peer pressure, and the list goes on. This can affect family, friends and their own lives in a negative way. “Understanding why children engage in bad behavior is critical to curbing it”, illustrates Harvey Karp, M.D, a pediatrician and author of the book and DVD “The Happiest Toddler On The Block”. Based on my observations, I have learnt that each child is remarkable and extraordinary and the biological, surroundings and the educational encounters impact a child's advancement. Along these lines, as a juvenile justice social work student, I have learned to abstain from summing up somebody's practices and/or behaviors solely based on my visual perceptions. I also have to think about how probable it is that young ones have their own qualities and unmistakable excellencies. Reasoning being, is because many practices and/or behaviors are greatly impacted by the system in which that individual grew up. While doing this assignment, I reflected on my past encounters as a kid, my beliefs, mentalities, my childhood guidelines furthermore inspected how they affected my development. By building up this self-awareness, it has set me up for against harsh practice and a consciousness of how I identify with individuals.
“In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.” (Eleanor Roosevelt). This is just one of the infinite examples of how human nature has been explored by so many different people. Each and every human is born with the capability of making their own choices. The decisions that they will make in the future will determine how evil they are viewed by others. Although one’s nature and nurture do affect their life, it is their own free will that determines whether or not they are evil.
Moral development is not completely accredited to one’s genetic makeup, though, theorists such as Lawrence Kohlberg believe that moral development is underlined by the cognitive development of an individual. He believed that moral thinking changes in predictable ways as cognitive abilities develop, regardless of culture (Arnett, 2012). As listed earlier, morality can be affected by many factors including the environment and the parenting of a child. Parenting has a larger effect on the morals of a child than many scholars have described, but this is because the parents of a child in the early times of life are the only exposure to culture and the teaching of norms and how to obey them. Parenting has no real right or wrong way of being done but for over 5 decades, research has been done attempting to find out how parents parent.
People have constantly attempted to understand what evil truly is, and, if possible, how to eliminate this evil from their lives. However, first it must be known what it is that is being eliminated. Different people, cultures, and eras have all had a different view of what evil is, and how it affects their lives, and there is no true answer. Because of this, discussing the idea of whether people are born or can be evil is meaningless. The idea of what evil is, and whether people can be evil, is relative and cannot be applied to human nature in a universal way.
Every human is born with the potential to be inherently evil. Whether they choose this path or not depends on the influences of the outside world. We can see an example of how this is true from the book, Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Although all of the boys in the novel start out as innocent choirboys, they show their true form of evil when they are put in a dire situation. The boys no longer become friends to one another, instead they try to kill animals and even each other for the pure enjoyment of it. Humans are born evil and have the intent of doing violent and harmful things as evident by; the world’s history, violence as a source of entertainment, constant wars, and bullies, both cyber and physical.
In my opinion, people are not born inherently evil—it is a learned behavior that is influenced by their experiences, their choices, their circumstances, and even the interests and thoughts that they choose to entertain. An “evil” person is incapable of empathizing with others—he routinely dismisses other people’s emotions and feelings and instead receives pleasure from wronging and harming others. This makes him unapologetically selfish, egotistical, and disdainful in his words, actions, and behavior. If he appreciates the needs or desires of others in any respect, it is only to further his own interests and desires, which is ultimately stripping them of their humanity and objectifying them by making them no more than a means to an end—serial murders and rapists would be prime examples of people who I would personally consider to be evil. Again, however, it is important to note that even the evilest of people can still likely have good qualities, especially to those who love them, such as their parents—it is often black and white from an outside perspective, but not so much so for those who care for the

Scientists make a good point about genes but I believe physical aspects come through genetics, but that personality development is shaped based solely on how a person has been nurtured through their lives. All children are bad at one time in their lives; consider this, a 4 year old girl throws a book at her brother, and is punished she is put in the corner.

The behavior of a child grows in a patterned manner just as the body. Like the physical growth, behavior too is strongly influenced by the home and other surroundings in which the child grows up. While we all have a lifetime to develop varying aspects of ourselves, it is the childhood period that is the most important in acquiring many tools. The strongest and the longest environment to affect the child are the parents. Most parents consider it their responsibility as well as the privilege to provide the best possible environment favorable to child's physical growth. However, often they tend to forget about the behavioral aspect in a child's development. The more a parent knows about the changes that take place in a child's behavior when he grows up, the more successful they can be in guiding the child along the complicated path leading to maturity. A person's ability to develop is due to two factors, maturation and learning. Although maturation, or the biological development of genes, is important, it is the learning - the process through which we develop through our experiences, which make us who we are (Shaffer, 8). In pre-modern times, a child was not treated like they are today. The child was dressed like and worked along side adults, in hope that they would become them, yet more modern times the child's need to play and be treated differently than adults has become recognized. Along with these notions of pre-modern children and their developmental skills came the ideas of original sin and innate purity. These philosophical ideas about children were the views that children were either born "good" or "bad" and that these were the basis for what would come of their life.
